Bonus B-25 Day Footage

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

One of the many great things about Paine Field in Everett, Washington, is when you go there to spot one airplane, chances are VERY good that you will get a LOT of extra treats to view! Friday and Saturday morning were no exception to this rule! I was out spotting to see if a certain airplane would be flying that day, which it was, and got to see a North American B-25J Mitchell, Boeing 747-LCF, Grumman F7F-3 Tigercat, Grumman F8F Bearcat, and even more that I decided not to video tape! Instead, I just stood there in awe, watching a 777 and 787 depart and arrive! Sometimes you just have to sit back and enjoy the view! :-D
Enjoy this video and let me know what you think!
P.S. All of the footage caught this day was with pretty significant winds, as you can tell by my camerawork. Even with that small Canon HG20, it still acts as a sail in the wind! But the GREAT news is my home-made windsock cancelled out almost ALL of the wind noise!! Yay!! Only took me 2 months to get it right, but better late than never, right?!
Thank you all for your continued support of my videos and efforts here at Paine Field in capturing these amazing aircraft. If you enjoy these videos, click on the links in my profile page to show support and help me show the best quality possible! Thanks again!

I was close to this airplane last year and watched it perform. The plane looks new, as if it had just left final assembly and inspection at North American and was ready for delivery to the Army Air Corps. Also this plane is one of the few B25's that does not have the modifications performed by Hughes Aircraft after WWII. This bird is the real deal.

My dad, SSgt Joseph J. Manijak was a 490th B-25J Waist Gunner and Radio Operator in CBI. In addition to doing Direct Action missions they also did PSYOP (dropping leaflets, sewing kits), and other special operations types missions. The B-25 was really our Nationa's first gunship. Recent history of AC-130s sport the similar "skull and wings, spectre and spookie" type emblems.

@1339LARS They are aimed that way so the aircraft can strafe while flying level at very low altitudes.

I love B-25s painted up in army colors. Once upon a time, I had a model of The Ruptured Duck -Captain Ted Lawson s plane from the Doolittle Raiders.

The Skull and Wings indicates the 490th, known as the "Burma Bridge Busters". Couple of good books out there on their exploits in the China/Burma/India theater-- check Amazon, they are good reading. On one run, after dropping their bombs on some Japanese bridges (their specialty), two "gulls" expended between them, 32,000 rounds of .50 cal strafing! Not that hard maybe when you have eighteen .50's on board ("J" Model"). The "J" had evertying you see in this vid, except whee you see three .50;s coming out he very front it had eight. I asked my friend if you could fire only some of them and he said no, it was all eight together or nothing. What was it like, I asked. "LOUD!"

The guns are pointed straight ahead as the natural flight aspect is with the noise slightly up.

Greg Fair Yes, this one is at Flying Heritage and Combat Armor Museum. There is also a B-25D across the runway over at Historic Flight Foundation.
