Bonding a Trio of Rabbits [Primrose, Reuben and Velvet]

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

This is my bonding video which shows exactly how I bonded my female rabbit Primrose with an already bonded pair (Velvet and Reuben). I'm not saying this is the correct way to bond but it has always worked for me. I hope this can help you in some way!

    This video helped SO MUCH! Could not have done it without your help! I now have 3 happily bonded bunnies, 2 male Netherland Dwarfs and one female Lionshead. The boys fought so much even after neutering. I never thought they would bond, but this video gave me hope and it worked!

    Wow can you give any advice? We have two bonded rabbits ( male + female) and we recently adopted a new male who was left in a shelter and likely would not have been adopted. I know how hard it is to bond a trio especially with two being male. We have the space to keep the new male separate just in case but any advice would really help :)

    Lil' smart Bunny that’s cruel they are social animals and should have a partner. If she have enough company by you then that’s okay but you will never replace another rabbit.

    Bunny Nature from what I've heard the giants have the force advantage when fighting and dwarfs have the speed advantage, did you see that in bonding? And how did it go? Also I'm planning to adopt but most bunnies left at the end are larger bunnies so I'm wondering what should be done differently or what special precautions should happen

    Thanks :) Haha they are! I was the same (as in staying with them 24 hours for 3 days) when I was bonding Blossom into my previous quad but that's because Tinkerbell was a moody little thing and the fights were really scary! I guess it just depends on the rabbits, I think I've been quite lucky with these 3 so felt I could trust them alone quicker! 😃

    Wow I would’ve never guessed they would become friends you’re awesome at this bonding stuff! I took my 2 year old female bunny to a local rescue to board to get bonded and she was getting along with 1 of the boys, but after a few days they fought and unfortunately the place told me my bunny doesn’t want a friend.. Do you think I should try again or should I just leave her as a single?

    Hi I would definitely try again! It's very common for rabbits to fight when bonding, its what they do to sort out their hierarchy. So many people give up at the first fight and assume their rabbits don't want friends but they really do and it is the most amazing thing when they are bonded. 🥰 Good luck!

    I'm currently on day one of bonding a quad and have been watching all your vids. I have two males and two females, they were two bonded pairs. Everything seems to be ok with no aggression or fur pulling as of yet but one of them is a humper. Henry is constantly trying to hump the others. Buddy the other male is taking the brunt of it though has largely sat there and taken it. He's now too nervous to move. The two girls have their share but run away most of the time. Any suggestions or do we recon it'll calm down on its own?

Do you think it will be easier to bond these 2 male together o maybe it will be easier to bond these 2 males together with a spayed female all at the same time? Will it help introducing a female? We have a fixed Bonded pair, and just rescued another Doe that had been given to charity and we took her because she was only 4 weeks old, too young for a child's first pet, she hadn't properly been weaned and has been trying to suckle/ bite any one she can get to or submitting to be groomed for hours. our older Doe had been constantly lunging at the bars to we had to put a pen inside a pen while she gets a bit bigger. I don't think she could handle the initiation/ bonding bites, I really want to get them all free roam friends sooner than later because the summer is coming up.

    horses and ponies I got mine from Honey Bunnies in Leicester and they rehome all over the UK! Tbh although baby bunnies are cute, they don't stay little for long and then you have a lot of expenses to pay out for. In my opinion it's better getting a rabbit that's young but not a baby! Rescues have rabbits of all ages though. x

    it's kind of funny. When I bonded my two females I did everything wrong and they ended up really really closely bonded. I think that as with any other animal, it is all about the personality of the animals and not the animals themselves. I got Rowan a female who had bee part of a bonded male and female pair. She was 3 years old when I adopted her from the shelter. She is defiantly the top bunny. She likes to be the boss but, she is also quite the scaredy bunny. They tell you to do a male + female pair, they recommend not introducing them in person right away and they recommend getting two rabbits that are close in age. Sweet Pearl is a baby, not a year old yet - she went into Rowans enclosure but that didn't work right away so, I let Rowan roam free for a few days and left pearl in a smaller cage. Eventually when I put the both of them together they were a little iffy but I just left them to do their thing. Well, now they are almost like lesbibunnis. Hehehe. they are always side by side, always grooming eachother, always looing at eachother. They will share a treat and both eat it at the same time ala Lady and the Tramp. It all goes to show that it depends on personality.

  • @sapphireotaku3399
    @sapphireotaku33998 жыл бұрын

    I put my two little baby bucks together a while ago. One is about 5-6 weeks (he's a rescued orphan, I didn't steal him from his family so young) and the other is about 8 or 9 weeks. I had the 6 week old (Storm) for about 2 days and he seemed a bit lonely and depressed (he had a surviving buddy that unfortunately passed away recently), so I decided to get him a buddy. I put them together on the floor, they sniffed, then Storm nuzzled Loki and a few minutes later they were cuddling and grooming each other. ^^ Storm follows Loki around like a lost puppy and copies him (which is terrible since Loki is a trouble maker haha). They cuddle, share food and romp around. Not a single fight. I'm so glad I got so lucky with them and they're happy. I just thought I'd share so people know it really depends on the rabbit, sometimes it's super easy! :)

  • @mypamperedpets

    +Sapphire Otaku Sorry to hear about your loss but glad Strom has a friend now. Baby buns are usually easier to bond as their hormones haven;'t kicked in yet. Be careful as they get older though as they could suddenly fall out when they reach maturity. If you have them neutered when old enough then they should stay friends!

  • @sapphireotaku3399

    ***** Yeah, thanks! I already know about their hormones that's why I chose them specifically to bond, Storm is SUPER submissive and they'll be neutered as soon as they're old enough. :) Thanks again, I hope they stay best buds! I'd hate to have to seperate them. ^^

    +mypamperedpets Oh, and you did an awesome job by the way! Haha, I find myself self-centered sometimes. -.- (I guess we all have our moments.) Anyway, I forgot to mention that, you were very patient and calm, and didn't force it too much. I also love that you didn't stress bond, I'm not sure how I feel about stress bonding, but I don't think it's the best idea due to bunnies being so sensitive to stress. You're an awesome bunny parent, I don't think they could ask for anyone better! :D

    I'm thinking about getting another rabbit. I already have a 2 year old dwarf bunny who is neutered and well behaved and very loving and kind. Of course, I want to get another rabbit, but my parents are a different story. I know that rabbits don't do very well as singles because they get lonely and easily bored, which is way I'm looking for a second bunny to play with my current rabbit, Cooper. How do I convince my dad that I can take care of two rabbits? And also, since mini lop rabbits are one of the nicest rabbits (or so I heard), will it be easier to bond them? My bunny is very sweet and kind and I think will do fine with a companion. Anyways, please reply if you can. Thank you. (:

    Hi! I know this video is a few years old, but I was wondering how the rabbits were doing nowadays? c: I'm looking to adopt a pair of twin bunnies and a third, from the same shelter, all of them only a few weeks old. And as far as I was told, they interacted well during the past few weeks and I'm hoping these buns will stay closeknit in the new home they'll have for the next coming years! ^^ I ask also because I hear some rabbits can be very bonded in groups and suddenly fall apart sadly, so I wonder how yours have been since!

    Hi! Thanks for the comment. So lovely you're looking to adopt some bunnies. Primrose is doing amazing, she lived very happily with Reuben and Velvet and the bond never broke down. Sadly Reuben and Velvet are no longer with us but Primrose is living happily in a group with 4 others! I have a video on my channel showing how I bonded such a big group. ☺️ As long as the 3 rabbits you adopt are neutered and spayed then it's definitely possible for you to have a happy trio. 😄

    @@mypamperedpets Awww sorry to hear that Reuben and Velvet are gone! I'm hoping its re-homing and not the "other" thing! 😭But I'm very glad Primrose is still there,and with a lot more others! And very much so glad to hear she's bonded happily with them as well. C: I'll definitely check out the other video! &I've definitely messaged the shelter if they're all spayed/neutered, so let's cross fingers! If not, I can always get them so, if they're old enough. c: Thank you for the response!

    Did you just keep them together and never separate them? Becasue I've heard you're supposed to do no more than 2 ten minute sessions at first and go on from there. But this method seems to have worked for you. Also, are those pellets that they would eat for daily meals? They seem to really like them. What brand/kind are they?

  • @mypamperedpets

    @mypamperedpets

    +AnimalsEtc. Yes I kept them together the whole time! I've always bonded using this method which has worked really well. 10 min sessions are not usually the best idea as just as the rabbits will start to get used to each other they'll be split up so best to keep them together at all times! Yes they were burgess excel pellets :)

    OMG I am super happy that I found your video. I have 3 rabbits, and all are the Holland lop breed. Two are a bonded 8 month old pair of a female (Cinnamon) and male (Chappy), both neutered and spayed. The other one is a male (Peanut) 6months old and very small. I am trying to bond the 3 of them together but everytime I put peanut in the play area with the other two he immediately wants to play. The female does not mind him much, but Chappy will attack him severly every chance he gets. Since peanut is smaller I am afraid he is going to kill him and I do not see peanut getting any bigger. For some reason he stayed really small. Chappy is ay 5.30lbs, Peanut is at 2.30 lbs, and Cinnamon is 4lbs. Can you please give me any advice on how to bond the 3 of them? Peanut is soooo loving and all he wants to do is play. I want to try your method, but again I am worried about the size difference.

    I hope you see this comment. I have two lone girls at the moment who are due to both be spayed this month. After hearing horror stories about bonding two females my anxiety has gone sky high. One of my girls only has three legs and I am worried she will be very defensive. I only live in a flat and they will both have their own bedroom but I am so worried they wont bond and I will have to keep them seperate. Can you give me any tips on bonding girls? This video helped me tons and showed me it was possible but any other tips on how to do it would be great. Would I be able to do this method for them or would I have to do short intervals? I dont want to do anything wrong and mess up the process. Thank you

    I'm enjoyed watching you tips in this video. I have a question though. I'm in the pre bonding stage with my bunnies and am trying to research and learn as much as I can before I actually start bonding them. I have 2 Netherland dwarfs, one girl, one boy, both neutered/spayed. Each around 2-3 pounds. They are both around 1 and a half years old and have been together for around a year of that time. A few days ago we got a third bunny; a New Zealand overweight neutered male. Probably around 13 pounds if not more. I have been putting their cages side by side and the little girl is very interested and starts smelling around and looking at the other bunny, the little dwarf male doesn't seem to care about the big bunny. One time I put the big bunny in his cage, and let the little ones run around his and the girl dwarf started trying to squeeze her paws in between the cage to try to scratch at the big one. I immediately removed them and since then have not attempted anything further other than leaving their cages side by side. I have been watching videos such as yours, and now am even more worried about bonding them, because of their big size difference. I've noticed that humping is a normal way of bonding, but if a 13+ pound rabbit starts humping a small 2 pound dwarf, I'm no sure if that's going to be okay, or how harmful that might be for her if he tries to get on top of her. My question basically is, do you think it will work out to bond the 3, or do you think it will not work out because of their size differences? Thanks in advance. :)

    +Anastasia Oliferovskiy Hello, it is definitely possible to bond them! I know people who have nethies living with giants. :) You will just have to be extra careful when bonding them and be there to split them up if you think the big bunny is being a little too aggressive to the smaller ones! Good luck :)

    Lolibunny As you've had a serious fight, it might be risky to be honest. Also as you have a pair already there's a risk that adding a third rabbit could break their bond. Instead I recommend bonding your 2 single males together, providing they've been neutered!

    I have a problem with my rabbits. So they are siblings (a girl and a neutered boy) about 8 months old. They have lived together since they are born and always got along perfectly fine. The last few days the boy has been chasing the girl and she is terrified. He will chase and attack her until I separate them and after that she is terrified and pants. I've now separated them in two different cages but it can not stay like this forever. I've tried rebonding them but the same happened again. Any tips for why they are fighting and how I can stop it? Thank you so much.

    Hi so sorry you're having this problem. :( Is your female spayed? If not I highly recommend you have her done because not only will it stop the high risk of uterine cancer, but it may also stop the tension between your rabbits. Your male can probably smell her hormones which is probably what's causing him to chase her. xx

    I tried to set my two neutered boys together today. They have been living together when they were babies but they grew up and began fighting. Then I needed to split them, and neuter them. when I sat them together today, one of them was constantly biting the other one. The one that got bitten was screaming, like really high so I can hear it. I am getting so scared of him because I dont want to get him hurt. I splitted them again because i felt really sorry for that the rabbit screamed many times. I havnt heard anything about screaming while bonding:( what can I do?

  • @mypamperedpets

    @mypamperedpets

    7 жыл бұрын

    Screaming is a very bad sign and indicates that your rabbit is in severe pain or absolutely terrified. If this is happening during bonding then unfortunately I don't think you should continue with it in these circumstances. So sorry this happened with your rabbits, screaming is a horrible sound for them to make and I hope your rabbits are okay.

    Well... The rabbits are okay tho:) I really want to get them bonded, and since I commented this commend, I have tried to set them together again, but the screaming happend again. The bonding thing i have been doing since last screaming is to have them in a pen splitted with a grid wall. I was thinking to have them like this, 4-5 hours every day and see if the agression is calming down after some weeks. And it is only a mounth since they were neutered so maybe it is their hormons that is making things worse?

    I am bonding my two female rabbits and everything is going fine, they seem bonded for the most part. The only time I'm seeing a problem is when I give attention to the new rabbit I have introduced to my rabbit I've had for a year now, she starts humbling and pulling her hair. She also does this in the night or early hours in the morning. Other then that, they cuddle, groom each other, and seem like they are definitely bonded. Does anyone know why at times my older rabbits acts out but others they seem like they're best friends?

    Quick Question- I have 2 bonded rabbits, 1 is a dwarf and 1 is a Velvet rabbit and both get along great about a year old. I brought a new baby into the mix and she is 8 weeks and a lop eared. My Dwarf doesn't mind her at all but my Velvet rabbit tries to attack her every chance she gets. She tries to grab her by the back of the neck. We monitor them very closely and try to prevent any fighting. The dwarf and velvet are housed together and the lop is housed separately so they are only together running loose at night with supervision. However if the baby goes into the large cage, my dwarf gets very upset so we are looking at getting another cage to house all 3 when the time is right. Do you feel that the techniques in this video will help with bonding my overly aggressive velvet rabbit? I dont want to hurt my rabbits and i dont want my rabbits to be afraid of one another.. any help or advice is greatly appreciated.

    Hello are your older rabbits spayed? As your youngest one is not then your Velvet rabbit can probably smell her hormones which is upsetting her and causing her to fight. The techniques in this video should hopefully work however I would wait until your youngest girl is spayed and if the older ones aren't spayed then they need to be too. Good luck.
