I'm excited that BonaVita came out with the new design. When mine breaks I will look forward to getting the new model. That black color looks really nice too. TFS

The flat bottomed filter basket for the BonaVita will also give you different results than a Cone shaped basket. If you had the Moccamaster with the ROUND base with the 3 setting basket switch, it would be interesting to try and place the Bonavita basket on the Moccamaster Round base and see what the results would be. I also purchased the Flat bottomed basket and showerhead cover and One hole showerhead that comes with the Moccamaster Grand coffee maker to compare. (The Grand is a 16 cup brewer ) with a Flat Bottomed basket like the Bonavita you sampled. However, even though the basket fits on the round base, the placement is not perfect as the basket is a bit too wide on the top. Purchasing the Moccamaster cone filter 3 setting basket and cover and 9 hole showerhead will fit better with the Moccamaster Grand. The Grand is a larger capacity brewer and what appears to be designed only for large full batches. (16 cup) I was able to modify one side of the flat bottomed basket and showerhead lid to better fit the flat bottomed filter basket. Flat baskets tend to deliver a slightly less strong brew. The favorable results that you may be getting from the Bonavita may be directly related to a flat bottomed basket vs a Cone shaped basket.

So these are on back order with an expected date of April. I ordered one last week and received an email stating they are now putting a stop in the basket so you can pull the carafe out mid brew. I had a BUNN for 7 years loved it - saved the cone /purchased another one and poor hot water,all coffeemakers need maintaining for hard water

I bought the Bonavita a couple of weeks ago. Previously I was using an Oxo 8 which was good but the Bonavita is better. A great cup of coffee every time, brews in less than 6 minutes. The lack of an automatic shutoff when removing the carafe is not a huge deal. It also does not shutoff when the brew cycle is done but these are minor things. I strongly had been considering the Technivorm but took a chance on the Bonavita and really am glad I did. I really like this coffee maker.

Still have it and no regrets. It makes great coffee. Only negative is that the lid started clicking while brewing but there’s an easy fix. Just don’t tighten the lid while is ts brewing.@@yjeafar

The difference is mostly due to the shape of the filter used (with the rest being equal/similar). I always prefer flat bottom filters because the brew is more even, hence the sweetness.

Great video! Which one would you recommend? Is there a preference between glass and aluminum/metal either between longevity or taste? I've heard that the moccamaster has a lot of replaceable parts available. That seems like it could be a bonus

How is the shower head compared to other models? Complaint from previous models show that the water does not come out of all the shower head holes. It struggles to reach the furthest ones.

I previously owned a Mocca Master but recently purchased a Bonavita. The Bonvita has a way better flavor with the same coffee.

​@@belalkay6808Manufacturer saids on Bonavita Enthusiast 8 cup You use Medium Ground. Not Medium fine. Not Medium cource. I grind my coffee with the Fellow Ode. Thats the 5 2/3 setting. If brewing Dark Roasted coffee with my Bonavita I use a Faster Flow Basket but keep the 5 2/3.

I agree. The Bona Vita makes a better cup of coffee, for my taste.

Was this a pre release that they sent you? I don’t see it for sale anywhere.

Why are there not more videos on this thing? I can't even find a place to buy it.

Just picked one up. Have you notices the carafe lid makes a clicking sound while brewing as it lets steam out?

Would you say the Bonavita One Touch or Enthusiast makes the better cup?

What is the size of the paper filter? Bnovite

I was interested in the Bonavita but the fact that it has a stainless steel carafe which affects coffee taste had me reconsider. It is also available with glass carafe but still without heating plate which makes it rather pointless. Hopefully somebody at Bonavita is already working on this.💡

I have the Bonavita Enthusiast 8 cup. Just like the KZreadr OP. Except mine has the Glass Carafe. My unit has the heat plate that the Carafe sits on. On couple heat infra gun test coffee in carafe is appx 180F.

@@mikecees2230 Sometimes have taken off the Bonavita's Basket holder. And underneath its showerhead have put in place a Chemev with V60 type filter. With a correct height size Carafe you can also place on top a Hario Switch.

The bonavita has a much better shower head and better coverage so I would guess it tastes better for sure

Just replaced my Bonavita connoiseur 1900 (died, sadly) with the Enthusiast and I'm underwhelmed. The flavor is not as robust with the same water to grounds ratio (measured both). Anyone done such a comparison for themselves? I'm hoping this gets better over time somehow... might have to return it. If anyone wants to get one, they're at sur la table in stock.

I would imagine at this point it might come down to your grinder. The machines aren't fundamentally that different but brew time is, which the grind size will need to be adjusted for.

A "finer" grinder may not be necessary but a more uniform grinder. I learned from espresso that the grinder is about half the taste because it allows you to control the rate of water flowing through the beans in via the size and consistency. I've been looking at this one: amzn.to/45e7i8N (that's an affliate link) but i also still use my bodum grinder here: amzn.to/45k3brZ It will probably take a little experimenting which is why it's annoying to have to change stuff up when your machine breaks up. Can you brew into a travel mug with the Bonavita?

Yes. So long as your Mug don't catch on fire sitting on the its heat plate. Myself on my Bonavita Enthusiast 8 cup I remove the basket holder and set the Chemex wt V60 filter under the open bonavita showerhead. Of Cource you can put your mug with any correct size Dripper setting on it and just use the showerhead with Perfect Pouring.

Where is this bonavita at for sale? Looks like nowhere

I've had multiple Bonavitas and I'm done with them. They always start clogging after a couple years of our hard North Texas water. I monthly run vinegar through and it doesn't help still clogs. Every Bonavita I get

You should always use filtered water if you can. Every machine is susceptible to clogging In my experience.

Yeah filtered water is best either way. Also bonavita says don’t use vinegar

I wanted a moccamaster because of how it looks...but I'll stick to my trusty Bonavita.
