I think many people will mistakenly conclude that you broke the drill by abusing it. A drill shouldn't outright fail when it locks up, maybe thermal breaker itself for a timeout, but not start shitting parts the first time a hard load is applied. That was only a couple seconds. Better hope you're fast off the trigger when you reach the end of your 1/4" plate and the bit binds. Two seconds into lockup and she's done for. What happens when you use it to mix a batch of drywall mud, auger or spade a few holes or try to sink some lag bolts? If it can't actually handle drilling anything, it's practically just a screwdriver.

My mate asked to borrow one of my drills, then I got a phone call. Mate.... I had to stop using that drill, kept stripping all the heads on these Ikea drills, it was a 230v corded drill......

The removable 20v is for different markets. Since in certain countries like the UK it would be labeled as an 18V drill due to 20V being technically false advertising. Same thing with the Dewalt 20V MAX cordless tools, which are also marketed as 18V XR but the exact same. When an 18v battery is fresh off the charger it’s 20v, but once in use it goes to 18v.

Everybody cracks on Harbor Freight, me included, but I'll be damned if they don't have a place on the cost/benefit spectrum. I've bought a cheap Japanese pull saw that tears through pallets for the fire pit, cheap 4 pound and splitting wedge for twisted grain log chunks for the same fire pit (had to look through for the sledge that didn't have a loose head), and they're the king of consumables. Steel wool and shrink tubing, that's my spot. Power tools? might as well go to the casino cause you'll have the same odds.

LOL...nice opening! Those Samsung 15M's come out of the Malaysia factory (the second "M" after the "15M" and the "SDIEM") and are rated at 23A continuous for a 250 cycle life before capacity has dropped to 60% of the minimum 1450mAh, typical 1500mAh capacity. The metal cans for Samsung cells have two lines of code near the top identifying the battery series and some production info. I tried checking the date code (the "121") but it's in a different position than I expected and doesn't come up as valid for me. But, Samsung could have easily changed the formatting of the codes without me ever knowing about that. The 15M is a decent cell but there certainly are others that would provide more capacity at the same or higher performance level. Probably more expensive though.

I work at harbor freight now but I've been watching hb videos forever. What's funny is how you say the stuff stinks, try smelling the vulcan gloves next time you go in. Whenever I have to stock those in I hate it, it just smells like china garbage. AvE youre wrong about brick and mortar, some stores like HD and Best buy are having their best years in decades according to their financial reports. The only reason sears, jcp, macy, etc are failing are because they were mall stores, malls are dying, and those stores catered to people that are aging and dying. You say online shopping is going to take them over, but the reality is one Amazon exists, while thousands of internet stores came and went, even ebay is suffering. Also have you ever bought an Amazon branded item? They are dollar store quality. Harbor freight looks like precision german engineering in comparison.

I would say that for the mosfets in the bottom are just for over voltage and under voltage protection for the battery. The MOSFET in the trigger is doing the heavy lifting of switching the motor current and it is probably running in the linear mode so as to speed control.
