Bolt Action Unboxing - Char B1 Bis

Ойындар

This week John and Justin take a look at the French Char B1 bis tank for Bolt Action from Warlord Games.
Produced from 1937-1940, this early-war tank saw action under both the French and then subsequently the German armies, who refitted some of these tanks with flamethrowers.
This platoon set allows you to build three tanks as either French or German gun tanks or as one of two versions of German flammpanzers.
Have you read Major Hans Von Luck's books?

Char B1 had a 1 man turret and a 3 man hull. The turret housed the tank commander who operated the turret gun entirely on his own, the radio man was sat in the back of the hull by the engine.

The radio operator would assist the commander by handing him shells. So it was a 1 and half man turret. Doesn't that sound great?

Off topic completely, but it's nice to see another Bolt Action unboxing. I listen to and watch these videos over and over while I am painting and building my armies. I can not begin to tell you how much i value you two gentlemen and these videos of bolt action that you have perfected! I need to renew my xlbs so I can watch all the backstage content! Thank you so much for doing what you do!

The French didn't Build out the maginot line to the channel because the whole plan was to fight the Germans in Belgium, and keepoing the Belgium sweet on that plan made an exstention of the line polticaly unwise.

I rather enjoy the off topic rambling you guys do. It's interesting and entertaining. I'm really looking forward to building my own Char B1 Bis very soon. Looks like a great kit.

The Maginot Line wasn't a bad idea. The Germans had extensive fortifications on their side of the border. The problem for the French was even before WWI the French didn't have the manpower to take on Germany. The Maginot Line freed up large numbers of French troops to fight on other fronts. As for the Ardennes the allies DID detect the Germans. The generals simply discounted the reports.

The biggest problem of the CharB1 was bad crew placement. 1 man commander turret. The commander commanding and operating the turret gun. The radio operator in the back on his own. The driver had to drive and operate the tank and the main 75 Howitzer. That is both targeting and firing the gun. The loader only job loading the gun.

It is a beautiful tank. I plan to get some for early war FOW... I remember playing the 1st Sudden Strike and dropping my FJ on the DZ ... and all off a sudden we needed to man the captured AT guns because these behemoths were coming down the road! Great video ... keep it up!

Our Wargaming Addiction I was planning on getting some for late war german. You can have over twenty tanks in the one late war army list that has french tanks, and you can get up to twenty other units with them, with some of those units having around 20 men in them, allowing for you to literally outnumber your enemy, and you can get a giant german AAA.

The problem with the allies in 1940 wasn't so much slower tanks, but slower staff work and tactical application. The French were continually showing up a day late for battles, by which time the Germans had penetrated further west and north; they were always playing catch up. The allies fell into the old trap, as you rightly pointed out, of fighting the last war. In particular, horrendous French losses in the Great War convinced their high command that the next war should be fought on the defensive. The Maginot Line fed into this complacent mind set, but the Germans were already fighting an all arms, mobile war which the allies simply weren't equipped to counter.

Char B1 was also used by the Germans during Normandy invasion, and it was the heaviest tank used by the Germans in the Balkans.
