Bogged Down and Surrounded By Lions And Elephants- Virtual Safari # 205

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

This afternoon's adventure starts with us being side-tracked by a herd of elephants drinking in the Sand River, exactly where two male lions were supposed to be. We capitalise on this and get some great footage of them drinking and then crossing through the river.
Thinking that the elephants had all moved on, we looped back around to try to find the lions and sure enough they had just been seeking refuge in the bushes nearby to avoid the elephants. As the lions move out into the open revealing themselves, another group of elephants arrives. Attempting to move out of the way of both the elephants and lions lands me in a little bit of a pickle that not even a Land Cruiser could help me with.
Finally, after being rescued by a tractor, we follow these two enormous male lions on a territorial patrol and have them walk right past the vehicle multiple times and then roar to advertise their presence.

    I agree fully, dont get into a sticky situation and then engage 4 wheel drive, and if in doubt, engage low range, or back off.

    You would think a ranger who just won a big KZread award wouldn't get stuck anymore? 😉 I have always appreciated that you don't shy away from showing these kinds of happenings. You could easily edit these out. Being stuck with lion tracks going underneath your vehicle. That's a whole new perspective particularly when two big boys are right close by.

    Thats what I was thinking on the cats tracks go thru the vehicle. Yes he could have but notice he wasn't shying away from telling and showing how easy it is to get in this situation. 😊

    Sadly, the KZread Gold Button doesn't give me immunity to getting stuck. I wish it did though. These sort of events are part of the experience so we love to show them.

    Morning LGR. That sure was a very interesting video clip, but a bit strange the game drive vehicle got stuck in the wet and boggy sand, whilst watching 2 big male lions resting a few metres away. And just out of interest, did you ever manage to find out and identify who those 2 very handsome male lions were? It has been quite a while now since some of the other lions also featured in a video clip. They include the Tsalala lioness, and the 4 big adult Kambula males and their sister. That group of five are a formidablely successful group when it comes to hunting buffalo and killing one. And that is something that I haven't seen for several months at all. Even though she didn't appear in today's clip as she hasn't done so for a long time now, but are you able to give me a good long and interesting update on the Tsalala lioness so that I'll know how well she is doing for herself at all please? I, like all of you, would be absolutely delighted to find out one day this year, that she is pregnant with her very first litter of cubs at long last over there in the end eventually. It'll be lovely to see the Tsalala/Marthly pride swell it's former numbers back up again a fair bit. Wouldn't it? Although all lion cubs are cute when tiny, but as she's the last of her birth pride surviving, I'd think a litter of at least 3 or 4 cubs would be a good boost for her. I've also yet to see her hunting in a video clip as well one day. Do you also have any news on the Nkoveni female and her newest litter of cubs, that have replaced her previous litter that she sadly lost to the younger Three Rivers female in a fight in August of last year? I hope she's given birth now, and will have a more successful job of raising and hunting for them. Hope to hear from you shortly. Robert 11.2.24

    It seems those 2 are after Ms. Tsalala again. Wouldn't be worth their time to fight with the Ndzengas for more territory farther east of here. They've got enough and there's always a risk of crippling injuries in fights.

    That was a scary situation. How come the African elephant can not be trained to help like the Asian elephants? A trained ellie would have been a big help now now.

  • @nnonotnow

    @nnonotnow

    3 ай бұрын

    Potentially African elephants could be trained. They just needed to start 4000 years ago The capture and taming of elephants began in the Indus Valley more than 4,000 years ago and people have continued to capture, train and work them since that time …
