Boeing's KC-46A Tanker Delayed By Wing Aerial Refueling Pods

Findings in a new report by the US Government Accountability Office (G.A.O.) state that the Boeing KC-46 Pegasus Modernization Program for the Air Force's new aerial tankers is further delayed. It is unclear if this will affect the overall delivery of the tankers. To date, over 80 have already been delivered by Boeing.

@@Choosewiselyeye All of NATO, with the USA being the exception! FYI - Airbus had planned to build the tankers at Brokley Field in Mobile Al, where they currently build A320s for commercial airlines.

I still think the USAF should have gone with the Airbus KC-45.
Maybe they should have stayed with the A330MRTT, which had proven track record already back when Pentagon was searching for new tanker.

Protectionism had nothing to do with why the KC-46 was chosen. It was picked because it fit better with existing infrastructure and was cheaper per airframe, which means more airframes. More tankers means you can refuel more aircraft at once, so less is not more in aerial refueling.
