I thought I recognized this. I've been on these very roads north of Kharkiv, recognized the burned out vehicles. Many of the vehicles belonged to civilians. No one can tell me that Russians didn't target unarmed civilians, we were unarmed civilians and they certainly targeted us. We had to hightail it out of there before our car looked like one of those beside the road, and before we ended up like those who were inside. RIP all innocent and lost victims of this senseless war.

What you see comes back to you,unbidden and at random, when you are tired, restlessly sleeping, or triggered by a news article or by something you see on tv. It brings tears to your eyes. And the smell of rotting human flesh is something entirely unique, once you smell it , you never forget, henceforth you smell a corpse before you see it.

I hate to say it but saying "bodies" is being very optimistic. Because of the precision and destructiveness of modern weapons it's very unlikely targets remain in one piece. Also for the same reason there's much less soldiers wounded in action. Which when people hear that their first thought is that's a good thing, but this is sample selection bias. So yes technically there's less wounded buts that's because having a 155mm H.E. round or 227mm HIMARS rocket land on your head isn't counted as wounded. But there's a silver lining, because of how precise modern weapons are there's much less civilian casualties or "collateral damage". Which "most" and I do mean "most" put a high if the highest importance on minimizing civilian casualties. Most people don't believe me when I tell them how strict our R.O.E.(Rules Of Engagement) were when I was deployed to Iraq, our leadership/government basically deemed that a soldiers/marines life was less important than Iraqi civilians, which is exactly how it should be. We signed up for this knowing what the dangers were and the innocent families/civilians did not.
