You are my favorite you tube reloading channel. I love how you go into detail on things. You are helping me understand the how and why people do what they do in their reloading process. I'm very experienced with pistol and I'm pretty good with rifle but you can always learn more. I love the way you lay things(your format) out keep up the good work sir and I will keep watching.

Just check the individual bullet weights on a accurate scale and you'll see the standard deviation existing in each box. Quality control has certainly gotten much better recently with many manufacturers but especially bulk packs seem to vary a lot in individual bullet weights. I'll bet you the bullet weight variation of sometimes 0.4 grains has more of an impact on groups and barrel harmonics than your 0.3 grains of powder increase. Sorting and grouping the individual bullets of the same box by more exact weight certainly helped me to reduce flyers. Keep up the good work, excellent channel.

That's what we used to call a "line clearance" in manufacturing. People thought we were being too picky until they started mixing up parts and they had to "participate" in a global recall. One product on the line at a time.

Loving all of the videos!!!...That being said I'd really like to see you foul out the barrel, say 10-30 rounds, whatever it takes to equal out the pressures in your barrel before the load tests. The first loads just didn't have an equal opportunity to shine!!!... I'd like to see this exact video again with a fouled barrel. THANKS FOR ALL THE WORK!!

I struggled with hornady 55gr fmjts in my 20" 1-9 heavy barrel. Multiple powders. At least 5 including varget. I had 3/4 of a jug of IMR4895 id bought to try in one of my 308's. Best groups prior were just over 1 moa with varget which i found disappointing. I tried the 4895 and was shocked! .6-.8 moa. Definitely came into it near the top of the charge range. So much so that im thinking adjustable gas block as my shells are bouncing off my deflector and landing at 1:30-2:00. Thats if i can find one for a .936" barrel.

Don’t use SS pins in wet tumbling. Just Dawn & lemi shine and dry for 30 min in walnut shell vibratory polisher. Nice & shiny. Wet Tumble for 60-90 min. I also use walnut shell reptile bedding (cheaper and finer grind) no issues with flash holes.

I'm loading with 55gr CamPro bullets, I'm getting the best results from Varget and CFE223 at there top loads. Federal brass seems to have the same case capacity as the Starline brass, when I load 27.5 gr it's falling out the top and hard to get a projectile to stay in the case mouth. Thanks for another great video.

One tip for you on cases. I have an indoor local shooting range that sells 500 PRE-tumbled once fired .223/5.56 brass for $24.95 & they are professionally tumbled & very shiny. All I have to do is full length size/decap & toss into the sink for a few minutes to get the lube off & then straight to primer & powder. This cuts my case prep down dramatically.

Two comments: This is totally conjecture, but I have bought a ton of Midway bullets and it seems to me that they buy in ultra-bulk - God only knows what that means exactly- then they rebox into those blue boxes for the numbers they sell. My guess is that this, if anything, means that there maybe more consistency within a given lot of bullets which is what I found when I classified them by weight. The other comment is with reference to RMR projectiles: I have come very close to buying a big bunch of their bullets on several occasions, but I know nothing about their products and I've never seen a review on them in the wild. So, thank you sir for choosing them to try out. I can't wait to hear what your impression is on first inspection and the same with their actual performance.

Nice video man. I've been thinking about picking up 1000 of these Bob's just to plink around with. I wonder though if it might be worthwhile to do what we call in the tech world "binning". Where you go through your box and weigh out the bullets and put like groups to like groups and see what consistency is after that. I'm sure there is some deviation in bullet weight in a group of 1000 of those guys. They have got to be mass produced somewhere, and if they are then there is room for error.

This video , when compared to another of your Bob's .223 55gr Bullet test using H335 and Varget shows just how much even Case Brand makes a difference . On that video the Bob's .223 55gr Bullet shot a .58 inch group with 26 gr of Varget using an OAL of 2.260 and a .78 inch group with an OAL of 2.235. And that folks is what makes our hobby so much fun. The amount of testing and combinations are limitless.......which means MORE SHOOTING !!!

Speaking from experience (from a different industry) "private label" products, like Hornady bullets made for and labeled as Midway, are typically not made to the same inspection tolerance. Also, they don't always get the benefit of the minor process engineering tweaks of the innovator's branded product. As a result, there will be performance differences, typically in the area of reproducible performance or durability. That doesn't make them "factory seconds though because they will perform to the private label partner's specification.

Funny I found this video the day after I loaded up 200 Speer Nickle plated cases with 27 gr. of Varget and the ever popular 55 gr. Hornaday FMJ. In MY cases 27 gr. filled them level full at the top of the case. Right on the can of Varget it gives a max load of 27.5 but with my cases anyway it's not possible to get that extra half a grain in them. Varget reminds me of loading with black powder, just fill er up and stuff a bullet into it. Haven't tried them in either of my AR'S but they shoot really good out of my Model 7 Remington with high dollar Leopold Scope graduated for .223. As you increased the powder charges it got better but when you started shooting I had to wonder if you were lubricating that AR of yours with diesel fuel. Looked like you were burning black powder in it with all the smoke.

In order to get good accuracy you need a rifle barrel that is free floating and is stress relived,,,this way you might get rid of the fliers as the barrel heats up. It seem to be a problem with AR that prints two groups out of a 5 round string.

Man, the benefits I see from my Forster drop tube for 223 are negligible. What works best for me is to use a cheap, old electric toothbrush to vibrate along the body of the case. And really, I kinda just stopped caring about the crunch. It doesn’t seem to effect accuracy either way. But the Forster drop tube also has a little shelf where the tube screws to the funnel, which sucks for ball powders b/c it catches on that. And the fluted end tends to wedge on my 223 brass, so I’ve gotta be careful not to get it stuck on there. It’s only ~$10, but you know, shht adds up.

I stopped using my F.A.R.T pins and went back to my Guntap .047*.255 pins and they work much better for me. also you should look into the Xtreme Hardcore powder funnels, they are pure funnel porn. The .224 one sits on the case mouth perfectly and is a joy to use.

Try some Benchmark, that's like a smaller extruded version of Varget, it meters better. That being said I also have Varget but mostly use that for my bigger calibers with more case capacity.

Tell you what Bob. To confirm inaccuracy I sugges you way all your rifle casings and weigh all your projectiles this way you ll be able to idetify inconsistent projectiles and casings , try it since the powder loads are controllable.... primer constancy cannot be evaluated, in a few words verify the constancy of all the components you purchase dimensions and weight.

Two things caused that. First, the sun was shining just right to make the cloud look enormous. Also, I think I had a decent amount of lube in my gas tube. I was spraying CLP all over the place trying to get that adjustable gas block to free up. So I think a decent amount of the smoke was from crazy excess lube. I laughed my butt off when I first saw the footage! That cloud was insane!

I bought the same bullets from Midway, mine sucked too. It's the bullet weights. They are all over the place. Had the same problem with a bulk pack of 30 cal fmj's. Garbage

Ron K What I found to help the most for me with bob's bullets was to sort by bullet ogive and to seat by the ogive length. Sorting by bullet weight made no difference as the weight's were by all rights spot on. The bullet lengths do vary quite and also the shapes of the bullets before the ogive so I don't sort by lengths. The best thing you can do is sort and seat by ogive. By doing so you are matching the pressure curves as closely as possible. For me it removed any flyers that I did have when I first bought these bullets almost 2700 rounds ago lol. Now all of my shot groups are 1/2 MOA or smaller. Of course all guns are different and some guns just do not like certain bullets/powders and sometimes switching to a cooler primer/hotter primer can change things sometimes.
