As a lifelong Pistons fan, we need to stop with this Core4 talk like they are going to take over the league. They look good on paper but don’t fit on the court. You can’t have a front office that ignores putting talent around your franchise player. Also all this cap space can’t be used on a player that doesn’t take you to a minimum Play-In team. This rebuild has been a disaster. The talent level has to be upgraded

They don't fit because their coach is 💩 and wants everyone to stand in corner to shoots 3's while Cade dribbles the clock down, and passes if he can't get a shot off. They run no real offensive system, or have any offensive rhythm their whole offensive concept is just "spacing" and nothing else even the Center they demand to shoot 3's at a 35% clip. Since when has the Detroit Pistons philosophy on offense been so retarded? You see Luka is all world, and has a FBHOFer as a backcourt mate, and they barely made 5th seed playing that heliocentric style of offense. Cade would've had to he all world, and have the same to make the Playoffs and that's their only hope for their future lol.

Idk why anyone would, but if you watched DET you’d see that Cade is NOT the problem. He averaged 23 and 8 on a horrible team with no second option and the paint ALWAYS clogged. I say add a vet big who can play defense bc Duren cannot and Stew is a backup 5, not a 4. Also add 1 good shooter, and continue building through the draft. Minimal spending, and continue to rebuild through the draft. Possibly take on another bad contract for a first next year. Then, hope your other young players just improve. If they are going to get out of this, the young players that are there now have to develop and improve. But Cade deserves the fun max based on him not checking out and playing hard, good basketball himself, as well as the leadership qualities he’s shown thus far.

  • @detroitboy52289

Gotta let Duren develop and they def need more than 1 shooter. Spend all the money on shooting to give those young guys space to operate. I'd rather big money on short years just in case what happened this year happens again (Bogie, Harris, Monte, Burks, Livers - all the shooters all flopped this year and are now gone) with injuries and vets underperforming.

@@detroitboy52289 that makes sense, I just think we need a defensive anchor in the short term while Duren develops. He has nobody to learn from, and I think he’s actually regressing on that end compared to the flashes we saw year one.

@danielbutler7202 injuries didn't help but I hear that too. I just disagree that we're as far as most think. The hardest part is finding a potential star, we have that guy already. Get competent vets that can shoot and I think we at least double our wins.

@danielbutler7202 let me run this by you, it's probably a hot take but it's worth considering. Thompson does a lot of great things but his shooting is terrible! What about exploring options for him on the table to see what you can get while his stock is still really high? He won't ever be the primary guy because of Cade so he won't have the ball and that's when he's most affective. I'm not saying give him away but if we can get a guy like Lauri M or that caliber (would love Brooklyn Bridge) would you do that or bank on him becoming a decent spot up guy on offense?

The bigger move is clearing house, you can't come into next season with Monty or Weaver imo. It's a lost season tbh, we gained no insight on the young guys because the roster construction was poor and the coaching wasn't utilizing the players to their strengths. Hopefully you draft Risaccher, sign some depth shooters (specifically on the wing), and maybe trade some cap for a pick. I like the idea of bringing in Simmons for a Suns 1st.

I have a plan for the Pistons. Ivey and Ausar and possibly beef stew to Brooklyn for Mikal Birdges, Duren and our pick for Sengun and maybe Houston’s pick depending on if we have #1 or we get screwed again with #5, then we sign Malik Monk and Pascal Siakam cause we have the money to do so, then we need a backup 4 and 5, get Drummond cause he gets boards and that what this team would struggle with, and then get Dario Saric cause he is cheap and played for Monty before (I have no real preference about backup 4 Saric is just one that makes sense to me) Cade, Monk, Bridges, Siakam, and Sengun is a lineup with multiple 3-level scorers who all score in different ways in Cade, Monk, and Bridges, and Siakam and Sengun are both great mid rang/low post scorers one because of strength and the other from his great post moves and skill, and on defense this team is solid too with Bridges and Siakam being elite defenders, Cade above average, and Monk and Sengun are both alright, and off the bench we have Sasser, Grimes, Fontechio, Saric, and Drummond. Add like John Wall or someone on a veteran minimum to get 0 minutes but still be a great veteran locker room guy as well, this team can genuinely make a push for the playoffs

The problem with the Pistons and I’m a Detroit resident so I have the right and insight on a team I’ve been watching for over 40 years! The problem is Troy thinks a team of 23 and under with no veteran leadership can figure out how to win without vets on the team! To be honest that’s the whole association’s problem with a lot of young teams! I wish Troy would get rid of the likes Stewart he’s not a basketball player! He’s built for wrestling, football, mma, any combat sport! But no basketball, he has no vertical, can’t protect the paint! Hands to small can’t rebound! Players like this is on the roster and that’s why we can’t win! I never seen the comparison between him and Big Ben!

They can deny it, but you gotta be realistic about who wins titles in the NBA and it aint going to be this Pistons team with this roster even if they can improve a bit

If I’m the Pistons HoBO (Head of Basketball Operations) I’m trading Cade to the highest bidder, no way I’m paying him a Max contract I’d take a few young guys that another team is wasting and see what I can do in the next few draft classes (This one is terrible) Let’s say, the Hawks wanted to part with Murray for Cade? I’d take that offer if they added a 1st round pick
