A friend said her father told her, losing his wife of many years was the hardest thing he had ever faced. This man landed at Normandy on D Day and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. I lost my beloved wife of 50 years 9 months ago. I now understand. This song nails the devastation one feels from such a loss.
I am 62 years old. I have loved this song since it came out. To this day it brings tears to my eyes. 😢

same here. Bawling like a kid who's dropped their ice cream. 68 now.
Such a sad song. I hadn’t heard this in ages. Still a tear jerker.
it's plain to see that this woman was genuinely touched by this song. It's the sign of a good person that she possesses both passion and compassion.
Rogue, THANK YOU for reacting to this song. It came out in '68 the year my Mom passed away at the age of 34. I was a young boy then, and when I listened to this song, I would cry and miss my mom so badly. Now 50+ years later, it still chokes me up and floods my mind with precious memories - of a time and a life that was way too short!

From one old widower to another, my wife left to be with Christ 19 days after our 61 st wedding anniversary, so hang in there we will see them again…..
You have officially heard the Saddest Song Ever Written. Period. Honey is sentimental and adorable and he thinks its cute and funny. She is upset that she wrecked the car and is crying hoping he isn't mad at her. He couldn't stay mad at her if he tried. He loved her very much, and now that he looks back at all the cute and adorable things she did, he really appreciates how sweet and sentimental she is. I always wanted a relationship like that but I got the opposite. I think she had a terminal illness and loved him so much she couldn't bear to break the news to him. This song has had me choked up since it came out when I was about six years old.
Wow! A blast from the past. Haven’t heard this in decades. So pretty and so sad. Thanks Royce!! 😊🌹🌹🌹
All these years later, and it still brought a tear.

My man, mom died alone too. It wasn't for the reason that she didn't have family. My sisters had lunch with her that very afternoon, and she usually spend the whole day with them, but on that Dec day on the 21 in 2005. They said that she was so anxious to go home, they say it seemed like she knew that was going to be her last time to see them and she didn't want them to see that. They founder her that evening with a smile on her face. I still kick myself for not going home that summer.
This was MOMs favorite. She passed in 93. Still gets me every time I hear it.

Bobby Goldsboro was also a songwriter. One song that he wrote was rather different from "Honey" & his other songs: "Summer (the First Time)." Let's just say there's a cougar in it-& I'm not talking about a mountain lion.

One of the best songs ever !!!!! get something in my eye every time I hear this song !!!
First girl who broke my heart this was her song, I still have issues listening to it..
This is our theme song. it's a sad song but my late husband had chosen it. He celebrated his 73 birthday on Aug 28, 2021, we celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary Sep 13, 2021 and he passed away Sep 30, 2021. Unti now I cried every night and I used to hear this sad song till I get some sleep. HONEY I missed you so much. I hope and pray that you are now happy with our creator. I LOVE YOU SO MUCH.Only time will tell when I will ever forget you
THIS Song , I was 10 when this came out , I cried then and at 66 I still cry now , the memory , this is the saddest of songs , a truely moving song , thanx Bobby Cheers
I was a little kid when I heard this and cried then and still do everytime I hear it.
I love this song. I sang this many many times - I'm in my sixties and from the Philippines. This song was huge there. I am so happy you played and reacted to this video.
I was a kid when this song came out. Thought it was too sad to listen esp as a kid, so I never listened to this song as much then. I was more into pop, rock, and happy tunes. Later on in life it had a different meaning, still sad but lyrics made sense of the song. Most of my relatives and siblings are gone now !

I understand how you feel. pretty much the only family I have left is my sister and a couple of cousins.
This song had a big impact on me at the age of 7 when my mother brought home the album and played it. Yes I'm old ha ha. Try "watching Scotty grow" too if ya get a chance. Great reaction as always!
I know all about it : Do not stand at my grave and weep I am not there; I'm not asleep. I am the thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glints on the snow, I am the sun on ripened grain, I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning hush I am the swift uplifting rush Of quite birds in circle flight. I am the soft stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry, I'm not there, I did not die.
Try his song “Autumn of my life” Great song, my father wanted it played at his funeral, which I did
This was so hard to watch and hear. My mum used to love this. Miss you mum.❤️❤️❤️
Kevin Neal This is one of my all time favorite songs. I guess one can look at this as being sad but I prefer looking at this as sweet memories of a loved one who is with us no more.
When he recorded this song, he did it in one take which is absolutely unheard of... Most producers do several and re-record sections and re-arrange on the fly, but not this one... One take and done and a hit. Astonishingly rare indeed!
I still tear up on these great songs - even at 64!! try listening to Autumn of my life by Bobby Goldsboro - or watching scotty grow! We lived back then with our music....really lived life - this generation will never know!
This song still brings tears to my eyes even after all these years.
Hi rogue ,this songs an oldie but a goodie, new sub from Ireland, fantastic reaction, one thing iv noticed you are one of the few reactors who actually concentrates on the lyrics ,
Though I am from another culture, I feel tears in my eyes every time I listen to Honey and Autumn of My Life.
One of my faves. Released twice here in the UK. First in 1968 reaching Number 2. Then again in 1975 and got to Number 2 again.
Haven't heard that song since the early '70s still remembered every word the power of music. I would love to see you react to a song called tobacco road performed by the winters Brothers Edgar and Johnny Winters but it should be the live version from 1970 while you're at it you should listen to Edgar winners performing live Frankenstein from 1973 with Rick Derringer. Edgar is an unappreciated musical genius forefront of his craft at the time I think you'll be pleasantly surprised
We all have this side of us. Both the plant a twig and laugh, the smart but dumb. Love is the true emotion.
This song reminds me of my mother, she loved this song, we would listen to it together when I was a child 😪

I love watching you react to the old songs

Was actually a big hit in 68, one of my favorite songs then. He had a song Autumn off my Life after that, was ok nothing to the popularity of Honey. I really dug his song a few years earlier Little Things, much different, upbeat.
Beautiful lyrics... 🥺❤️
One day when l was not at home The Angels came. That phrase is monumental ..
Thanks Bobby for sharing such a heart field message so sad it brings a tear.
Thank you so much for this song and your heartfelt reaction! I have loved this song since my youth, and to this day it still pulls my heart into a knot and makes the tears well up. It is just such a beautiful and heartfelt song that stirs up emotions in me I can't explain. Again thank you so much!
My mother loved his songs.... this one and " Autumn of My Life"😊
Beautiful song. You also had great comments about the song. Thanks.
OMG!!! My Mama passed away in March 2018 from end stage pancreatic cancer. My daddy had colon cancer that metastasized to his lungs, liver, bones and brain. He passed away 5 months after my Mama. Some cried. others vomited at the mawkish sentiment of this much-lampooned tear-jerker. I still have time for it for two reasons. One is Bobby's golden (and somewhat underrated) voice, The other is how deftly it captures the little things that cumulatively sustain a long-term relationship which have meaning only to them. I scoffed when I first heard it, but as I matured I started to get it. Yes, I've been there and I hope, dear Rogue, you are spared at least some of the pain

This was my late dads, favorite song ever. He and my late mom, would sit, and listen to this song, and hold each other while crying. My dad had gotten orders, to go to VIET - NAM. My beloved mom, would listen to this song everyday, to comfort her heart while dad was away at war. Both mom and dad are in heaven together now. Miss you both so much. A piece of my heart is forever missing. Love you always. RIP - MOM - DAD.

I could not understand the power of this song until I lost my beloved wife of 50 years.
My mom introduced me to this one. I honestly can't think of a time in my life when I haven't known of this song and I've loved it since the very 1st time I heard it. Yes it's super sad, but even way back then I've always focused more on the love than the loss. Afterall, as Alfred Lord Tennyson once said.. "Tis better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all." Many blessings and love to those who've experienced such a loss. Bit by bit, may your days get easier sooner rather than later ❤️
I hadn’t realised how much vibrato he used in his voice
Good old Bobby Goldsboro. King of ballads (and 1960's variety shows) that touched the hearts of middle America at the height of British rock n' roll. He had several hits back then. Another of his hits which was similar to "Honey" was ""Autumn of My Life." He got a bit edgy when he recorded "Summer (The First Time)" in his own immutable style which surprised many that it was allowed on the charts. But then, the (Rolling) Stones were in there also with "Let's Spend the Night Together," so ... the times they were a changin'. And here we are in 2022 getting choked up at the storytelling in a sad and silly song -- about the power of devotional love.
Takes me back to my teen years!!! When songs were proper songs!!
I think that I was about 14 or 15 and went out to California from Texas and went to Kntsberry Farm amusement park and got to see Bobby Goldsboro at a free concert in the auditorium there and he sang this song, it was very memorable. Ribbit, ribit.
Summer (The First Time) is my favorite song of his. He also had his own TV show for a few years. He also toured with the Beatles and rode on the bus with them.

Have always loved this song. I’m a sucker for sad songs. Truth is I’ve never had a love like that.
I grew up hearing this song and I was always deeply moved. I couldn’t have been more than 8 or 9 years and I was just learning that songs could be a way to tell very rich and complicated stories instead of just making us dance or think happy thoughts.
My daddy loved this song.
I always cry. It reminds me of old songs such as EBONY EYES by The Everly Brothers and TEEN ANGEL and TELL LAURA I LOVE HER.Thanks for this.
Tear jerker! Forgot how much I loved this song💞
I remember this song when it was new. It made me sad but thought it was a great tune. I bought the 45. It made Bobby a star also.

Before I meet my wife in person, we were playing suggesting KZread videos of sad songs that were unknown to each other. She likes modern country, I like the old. I suggested this song and after it ended, I couldn't hear anything and thought she hung up. She came back on after a couple minutes and I realized she'd been crying.... hard.
