Fischer's king could've easily scooted into the corner to safety if needed, and basically removed any potential threats and counter attacks black could've hoped for. Not to mention there were open and semi-open files on the black king, which seemed vulnerable to a queen sac and mobilization of white's rooks en tempo. And of course Fischer's bishop is always worth about 5 points in his games because he seems to be able to magnify its potency in every critical position.

I second the motion to set up a physical chess board with actual pieces - as suggested by Agadmator near the end. Yes, today's chess engines are fantastic but in terms of learning and retention, there is a lot to be said for physically making the moves and visualizing in true 3D. . I think that on some level, Agadmator agrees with this or he would not have suggested setting up a chess board etc. (I do own a copy of Bobby's 60 Memorable chess games, and have reviewed most of these games.)
