Costas knows exactly what to ask Uke to make audiences laugh during broadcasts, like an Abbott to Costello, they make a good team.

Later in the 7/24/1965 game at Dodger Stadium in which Uecker homered off Koufax, Sandy intentionally walked him. That astounds me even more.

First base was open with a runner on second and 2 out, and Ray Sadecki on deck; Sadecki struck out to end the inning. Uecker hit 2 homers off Sadecki in 1966 when Uecker was with the Phillies and Sadecki was with the Giants, and twice hit home runs in consecutive home runs in consecutive games that year.

when I read all the great funny stories about Bob Uecker, it reminds me of he and Bob Gibson getting caught holding hands in the Cardinals team photo (1964). Uecker thought they would get away with it. soooo funny! they both got fined and the team had to do a re-take of the picture.

Uecker also has said that he apologizes to Fergie Jenkins. I met Fergie at spring training a few years back, asked him, and he said he doesn't recall ever getting an apology.
