bob balaban is such a great actor - i think my favorite film of his is 2010. He's done so many good films.

In his KPCS interview, Chris Guest says that when he was in drama/theater school there was a really pretentious guy who wore a cape around campus. I wonder if he got the idea from that.

I remember first seeing this when our acting teacher showed it in class, and I remember seeing Bob and being happy as hell, yet devastated when he failed to pop up again. Thank you for this.

Bob Balaban directed Parents. He was also the translator in Close Encounters of the Third Kind. That man is versatile.

When I first saw this, it was a thousand times better than what I imagined Bob performed. I thought he was in a KISS tribute act or something.

So awesome. Never saw this after seeing the final Waiting For Guffman a million times.

Bob Balabans' whole role is exasperated looks at the Corky show. He's perfect.

This was just on Ovation or some other channel this weekend, and it never gets old. Christopher Guest is a genius.....

I agree with Malnourished Goat. Happy to have seen it, glad it's not in the film. It's funnier just to see him standing in the hall, and it's fun to wonder. And isn't that the magic of film?

@tmgore64 I traded for a copy of the workprint version of the film. It has many deleted scenes & musical numbers that are equally hilarious. Apparently, they shot 40 hours of footage.

That's not KISS makeup, you guys. That is how opera stars do their makeup for the stage (or a REALLY intense actor....)

I guess SOME opera stars do makeup like that, depending on the role. I've worked in opera for many years, and that's certainly not how most singers did makeup, generally. Then again, there are some roles that require fairly over-the-top stuff like that, in which case, you're right! This movie is brilliant, in any case.

I like just seeing him in the hallway and having that be it. I think it's funnier that way- leave it up to our imaginations.

OMGOMGOMG this has been my favorite movie for years, and I just finished Better Call Saul and Brba and Saul was my favorite character!!!! This is too much for my brain to handle!!!!!! I cannot believe I'm just seeing this!!!!!
