If you leave it just about long enough between repeat viewings of his tales, it's possible to end up in a loop of never remembering whether they are going to be true or not despite having seen it multiple times.

David Mitchell described this exact phenomenon (but he _was_ talking about Antiques Roadshow instead). He talked about guessing the ending of a TV show that you've already seen and getting the answer right. Then wondering if you've got a secret skill or if you just seen it before.

David summed Bob up in 1 sentence. "Whatever he says, however absurd, it could still be true, however plausible, could still be a lie".

Start watching at. 3:25 - David’s reaction after Bob quoting the witch - he looks like a small child, overcome by wonder and excitement!
I love how David forewarned his teammates about what was about to happen, to their dismissal. And by the end of Bob's story you could see how hooked they were.
Bob has the most amazing stories, it's insane. This guy's life was like a TV show, which is incredibly fitting.
The fact that the most outrageous stories can be true and how he sounds like he's making things up even when it's the truth make Bob an absolute wildcard on WILTY.
I never, ever, ever get it right - even on multiple re-watches of the same stories! I'd hate to be a cop trying to interrogate Bob for a suspected crime 🤣 He's just brilliant, unique and utterly hilarious 😂
Bob Mortimer is a spirit of primordial chaos

The tone of David and his team almost made me say "lie" with some confidence. Foiled by Bob again! Bob Mortimer is a national treasure! Have him on EVERY season of this show!
David def had a meltdown when he went home
come on, david, when bob breaks out the weird nicknames (ken numbers, mary candles) and absurd explanations (witches dont do gardening, wizards dont do plumbing) you know he is telling the truth.

I love Bob , he is so funny, I can’t help but laugh out loud 😂😂😂😂😂😂 watching these videos back to back, can’t get enough.

Brilliant! I remember a Witches house next to my school when I was a kid.😂
I love how Mitchell just *gets* this section
A lot of stories are not far from what we did as kids and teens in the 70s but he makes them hilarious whereas if we told our similar tales they would be merely silly with the odd funny bit.
Bob is a genuine legend lmao
I love Bob so much.
this game's greatest gift to society is bob's stories and David's reactions
The fact that it was true makes it even better.
Bob has a true talent for coming up with names on the fly
3:30 David looks so spellbound here, he should've trusted his heart
He's had such a magnificent life, gosh I wish I was him.
I saw Bob’s name and clicked ‘like’ straight away!

I feel that if you put yourself in a ludicrously absurd situation - maybe trying to float over the Eiger on a chair tied to a load of balloons while holding two live chickens and dressed as a 19th century soldier, for example - Bob would not only mysteriously turn up, but somehow make it more ludicrous..

I'm like David in the sense that I've resigned myself to the fact that it's a crapshoot if I will guess right. Some stories that sound really plausible turn out to be lies while some incredibly outrageous ones turn out to be true. Henning is also really good and I have to give Kevin Bridges a mention because his explanation of accidentally buying a horse in Bulgaria was not only over-the-top hilarious but David and Rob looked like their brains were about to short-circuit with frustration.
After the story "whats with the funny faces" I feel David's hopelessness.
Another distant memory like fingerprints on a dusty handrail....
Lee is so quick with that minimum and melting joke
I was sure it as a lie when he said that he never met her and assumed that she was a witch rather than a wizard, but then later said that she talked to him. Bob's stories are all over the place, you really have to go with 50/50 at best!
