I can't wait for this! I'm a big fan of Bob, and he did lead a very interesting, all be it, short life. A lot of his children have been in the music business. Ziggy & Damian were the most successful, but Stephen and Julian have done pretty well, too. His son, Rohan, was married to Lauryn Hill. His daughters and Rita, his wife, still perform as The Wailers, who Pete Tosh was a part of for many years before going solo. Yellowman was more Dancehall Reggae (heavier and underground.) The family are usually pretty forthcoming in documentaries about him, and will give you the warts and all version, so I don't think their involvement will cause it to be watered down. Thanks for the review, Mark & Nanny Di! 🤗💙

@@guinep My bad, I meant was, not is married 😳. Thanks for pointing that out 👍
I was lucky enough to see him and the amazing Wailers many moons ago in Dalymount Park in Dublin. I think it was his last concert.

Same director from King Richard and that definitely didn't shy away from portraying the flaws of the man so hopefully this will do the same so it's as authentic as possible.

@@nasimaali9646 from the little I recall, he had conflict with the band members. Whether that was more on him or them is debatable and also there's the infidelity. I believe the other woman he was cheating with is depicted in the trailer so that much they will tackle.
I was a bit worried about the casting - there’s nothing more cringeworthy than someone trying to portray the Jamaican patois badly, especially portraying the iconic figure of Bob Marley . There was a debate whether Julian or Damien, Bob Marley’s talented sons , couldn’t have played the part similar to Ice Cube’s son in “Straight Outta Compton”. The trailer suggests Kingsley comes across as quite authentic and Ziggy Marley ensured that the exact locations in Trench Town where Bob played football etc was filmed with lots of local actors in supporting roles to maintain the authenticity and I look forward to watching it . The thing to also remember is Bob Marley died in 1981. He’s always revered by the sound systems but at carnival /dances the sound system clashes aimed to produce the latest rhythm( riddim) to be as new and exclusive as possible with the competitive reggae charts so Mark , you wouldn’t hear a lot of Bob Marley songs regularly at these venues unless catering for the commercial crowd .
Hi nanny di sweetie 😮mark 👋👋
