When Harold Reynolds broke down thinking about the passing of this great soul, a part of me felt that way, too. Shows you the difference one man can make to so many lives. An awesome human being, by any measure. Just a shame that life has to be like a book. For every beginning, you know there's got to be an ending...🇺🇸🇵🇷🗽🦂⚾️😊

Mr. Morales you may be right. But I think when Mr. Kendrick was discussing forgiveness Mr. Reynolds thought not just about Buck O'Neil, but about his own issues involving allegations of sexual misconduct while with ESPN. He was terminated, filed suit, and received a settlement from ESPN. I think that he was dealing with some internal strife that he has held in from his experience with ESPN. It may have been the realization about what an outstanding human being O'Neil was and his own challenges dealing with how he was treated and his inability to let those feelings go. Then again, I don't know how many of us could be as compassionate and forgiving as O'Neil.

Growing up in Oregon in the 50s and 60s, I never knew of Buck O'Neil and that is my loss. It was through the Ken Burns series that I learned of him and grew to love his enthusiasm for the game. There is a special place in heaven for the man.

Jesus, I didn’t expect to be crying tears of joy, sorrow, and happiness after watching this video. I’m grateful I was able to go to the baseball hall of fame with my best friend the other week and see he’s about to be inducted into the hall of fame.

Maybe the most beautiful and moving tribute for anyone I have ever heard. I first met Buck back on the Ken Burns documentary about baseball. Then I would see him from time to time. And here he is, trying to console all the people grieving his HOF rejection by one vote. I believe I have taken something precious away from knowing Buck O'Neil which has informed my daily life, better than any pastor, teacher, shaman, rock artist or politician. He stands above all, a titan, throwing thunderbolts every time he speaks in his soft voice. I'm not a believer, but I say GOD BLESS BUCK O'NEIL, just in case there is a god, and I am proved wrong. Let's hope Buck has a blissful and safe journey in his next adventure.

I met Buck in the late 80's/early 90's at a Royals game. Bob Kendricks' quote "You always felt better leaving Buck than you did coming to see him" is dead on. Buck made you feel like his best friend in the world, even if he had never met you and all you had was a 5 minute conversation. I will treasure the memory.

Listen here and listen good. Harold Reynolds is the man. I have never met him but I know him and love this guy. If you do not love Mr. Reynolds then you do not like people. He is baseball, as much as anyone who ever played the game. I knew I always liked him a lot for his excellent insight and communication skills not to mention his playing years but this here is a side of him I never thought about. I gotta get out to KC.
