One of the best songs of the 80s. A classic. Probably one Dylan’s most overlooked lyrical masterpieces.

It is definitely overlooked! I have the album on CD, there are some low cuts on "Empire Burlesque" but this is definitely not one of them.

The problem with Bob Dylan is that he's a devil worshipper. He admitted it in an interview.

Most of the lyrics are lines from Humphrey Bogart movies. The original Someone Got a Hold of My Heart was all Dylan's lyrics.

I love the official video, but I feel we appreciate better the voice, the music, the sounds and the rythm without the pictures because we can concentrate better on them. This song is a real masterpiece ! Thank you for sharing !

Always thought this track was tragically underrated. Just love the groove under it and gorgeous guitar work. Finally looked at who played on it. Hmmmm....Mick Taylor and Mark Knofler on guitar with Reggae Gods Sly and Robbie on drums and bass. That kinda explains it.

Arthur Baker brought it. If you hear the bootleg outtakes, they are listless and flat. This material has been elevated about 25 notches by the skill lavished on the mixing.

Well, I had to move fast And I couldn't with you around my neck. I said I'd send for you and I did What did you expect? My hands are sweating And we haven't even started yet. I'll go along with the charade Until I can think my way out. I know it was all a big joke Whatever it was about. Someday maybe I'll remember to forget. I'm gonna get my coat, I feel the breath of a storm. There's something I've got to do tonight, You go inside and stay warm. Has anybody seen my love, Has anybody seen my love, Has anybody seen my love. I don't know, Has anybody seen my love? You want to talk to me, Go ahead and talk. Whatever you got to say to me Won't come as any shock. I must be guilty of something, You just whisper it into my ear. Madame Butterfly She lulled me to sleep, In a town without pity Where the water runs deep. She said, "Be easy, baby, There ain't nothin' worth stealin' in here." You're the one I've been looking for, You're the one that's got the key. But I can't figure out whether I'm too good for you Or you're too good for me. Has anybody seen my love, Has anybody seen my love, Has anybody seen my love. I don't know, Has anybody seen my love? Well, they're not showing any lights tonight And there's no moon. There's just a hot-blooded singer Singing "Memphis in June, " While they're beatin' the devil out of a guy Who's wearing a powder-blue wig. Later he'll be shot For resisting arrest, I can still hear his voice crying In the wilderness. What looks large from a distance, Close up ain't never that big. Never could learn to drink that blood And call it wine, Never could learn to hold you, love, And call you mine.

In New Zealand this song played for a while, then suddenly the radios would only play an edited version that had removed the verse at 3:14 about "They're beating the devil out of a guy who's wearing a powder blue wig" and "Later he'll be shot.." Had to wait until the rise of the internet before I could hear the full version again.

@@42awww You have a lot to learn. You don't understand the true nature of this world. You can say that I am wrong, but to say that I am crazy is too much. This world is governed by satanic authorities. Who is to say that yesterday's Bob Dylan is today's Bob Dylan? The implications of this go far beyond Bob Dylan, by the way.
