Lyrics:
How many roads must a man walk down
Before you call him a man?
How many seas must a white dove sail
Before she sleeps in the sand?
Yes, 'n' how many times must the cannon balls fly
Before they're forever banned?
The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind
The answer is blowin' in the wind
Yes, 'n' how many years can a mountain exist
Before it's washed to the sea?
Yes, 'n' how many years can some people exist
Before they're allowed to be free?
Yes, 'n' how many times can a man turn his head
And pretend that he just doesn't see?
The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind
The answer is blowin' in the wind
Yes, 'n' how many times must a man look up
Before he can see the sky?
Yes, 'n' how many ears must one man have
Before he can hear people cry?
Yes, 'n' how many deaths will it take till he knows
That too many people have died?
The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind
The answer is blowin' in the wind

Well done for realising that your family and friends need you on this earth. And then look around yourself - and see how many other people, that you don't even know - need you!!!!! Give 50 bucks to a destitute person tomorrow - see the look in their eyes - and see how that makes you feel. it's beautiful.

I always interpreted the line, "the answer is blowin' in the wind", as indicating that the answer is there, we can all see it, it's tangible, but every time we reach out it just blows in the wind. We all know how to not be violent and treat each other with dignity, yet we always fail somehow, no matter how hard we seem to try.

My very straightlaced father turned me on to Dylan in 1963, when I was 12 years old. We were riding in his car on NYC's Westside Highway, when a Dylan song came on the radio, and dad told me he thought Dylan was brilliant. To this day, I have no idea how my father even knew who Dylan was, but I will never forget the moment. I miss you, Dad.

Cathrine Berry: I agree with you, but do also remember that lots of Russian people are also victims in this. People who are affraid of living in their own country etc and people who are also excluded from various occations because of the fact that they are from Russia. Because of one man, the leader of this country. I am not so sure how I would have felt if I was excluded because of what our prime minister (I am Norwegian and there is no president here) had messed up. So when it comes to the habitans I have the sympathy. It also says that some agree with the president, but I don't know if they just say it because they are affraid, knowing the concequenses if they do the oposite. Poor people.

I wasn’t alive anywhere close when this song came out but this song is genuinely electrifying. One of those “you had to be there” moments in history. It’s a simple song yet says so much. Like you, I discovered Dylan whilst at school. An inspirational teacher who believed there was more to English Literature than Shakespeare and the great poets and novelists, brought his Bob Dylan albums in one Friday afternoon 55 years ago (1966). Yeah, a lifetime ago but, I'm still in thrall to that young troubadour.
I cried listening this song on my way to Annapurna Base Camp. I had trekked miles to reach there; I was surrounded by mountains all around me and then when my travel speaker played this song I literally cried. I now know how powerful songs can be - given the perfect time and condition. (PS: volume of my speaker was soft)

How long? Thats easy to me. A circle of guitars and other folk who know ghi a and other songs. 60 years later I tap my phone and it is alive. Thank you Mr. Dylan.
I really love listening to Bob Dylan's music as it brings back so many memories of back in the day!! I really loved growing up in the sixties and seventies because the music can never be replaced. Bob Dylan's music soothes my heart and my soul. BOB DYLAN IS ONE OF THE VERY BEST!!! Bob Dylan's music ROCKS! PEACE

I do love allBobDylan songs but this us really my favorite one
The seventh best song in history, created by the master and Nobel Prize winner, Bob Dylan in 1962. Undoubtedly a song that touches during any crisis, in my case, Nicaragua and its dictator who has murdered in recent months hundreds. Thank you, Bob, thank you for writing your songs with a golden pen.

Let's say this is the seventh. Then here is my top six: 6. Bridge Over Troubled Water by Simon and Goldwater. 5. Let the River Run by Carly Simon 4. Blackbird by the Beatles 3. A Change is Gonna Come by Sam Cooke 2. It is Well with My Soul.....by Selah And number one is heard at many funerals and done best by Judy Collins. The history of the song is quite beautiful and can be googled: 1. AMAZING GRACE written by John Newton.
I've been listening to this song for over 50 years!?!? And I'm still always surprised how raw and emotional it is. It's more like something you would here by a ravaged old blues singer than by a kid barely old enough to drink or drive. God bless you Bobby

I have been hearing it for 28 years and I never get enough. That's not a song that you start disliking after listening to it many times.
