"remove positive first" then you removed the negative..... little bit of confusion there!

Remove airbox. That's the correct way no need to loosen the braces.

there are two 8mm screws that hold the panel protecting the positive terminal at 3:50 in the video. You have to remove those screws before you can “pop” anything off without breaking things and cussing.

What a piece of s…t this X2 with the battery in front. All other models are a piece of cake replacing the battery in the trunk. I hope you register it after all this hassle 🙂

Thanks for the video, but for those of us without the scanner to registry the battery…we either spend the money on the scanner or take it to the dealer/shop , correct?

@@eastcoastphotography I was helping a friend replace her battery. It's also not a bad idea to watch a few maintenance videos for different cars so you can better talk smack. Every replacement (headlights, air filters, battery) on my Accord I've had to so far at 80k miles has been really easy haha.

German engineering at its best. (sarcasm) What a moronic way to design a replacable part. He didn't even show the challenges of getting it all back together, which is going to be a hot mess. Batteries go bad much more quickly now due to all the electric nannies (required by people who can't drive without all the buttons and bells telling the what to do). To have a tech do all this, plus the cost of the battery and the "reprogramming" of all the bells and buttons, is $1000.00!! Parts and labor. Engineers are asswhacks these days. Break My Wallet at its finest. Time to dump the BMW.

I'd recommend Honda if you're dumping BMW. Battery replacement on my accord was way simpler as well as all other maintenance I've had to do so far.

This "reprogramming" it must be done on all new cars.... you have to tell the car that you installed a new battery so that it doesn't charge it aggressively like an old battery...
