BMW vs Mercedes Reliability! (Surprise Winner)

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

It's Mercedes vs BMW reliability, and you might not expect who I'm picking as the more reliable luxury car brand. One of these car brands aren't going to last as long as far as I'm concerned! So if you're asking yourself if Mercedes is worth it or if BMW is worth it, this video will get you squared away.

Looked at several Mercedes SUV models recently and wasn’t impressed: Hollow sounding doors, weak AC and the salesperson tried (and failed) to do voice control commands. BMW (for me) was much more impressive and that’s the direction we took. Fun fact about the B58: In Comfort Mode, I’m running high 20’s around town and low 30’s on hywy- Given the power/smoothness, I think that’s simply amazing

Guessing it’s a bit dated as “Consumer Reports” on its Most Reliable List in 2023 and in the April 2024 magazine, has BMW at #1 (based on customer reviews, fit & finish, track performance & “green” issues). This year, C.R. also said they could not recommend any Mercedes model. Oh-oh!!!

If you really want the Merc quality you need to grab E-Class or above. I don't know much about the SUVs, because they are trash for me from any brand but the W212 is an undestructable bone especially the Diesel OM642 or OM651 Engines. BMW did alot of mistakes in their quality of manufacturing. But anything after 2015 is actually totally fine. Its just the fact that BMWs manufactured before 2020 all feel very outdated and like its from the last 2 centuries compared to anything that came from Merc Starting 2016 from E-Class and above.

I’ve had 4 bmws and were the worst when it came to reliability and maintenance. Like my last N55 motor that I maintained rigorously every 5k miles on my 535i cost me almost 7k over in the past 2 months of ownership and that’s with a bmw friend mechanic I know. I’ve had quotes every 5k miles when I went to dealer to do oil changes was over 11k for so much oil leaks motor mounts like ECT! towards the ending before I got rid of it. I bought it with 30k miles and I gave up on it at 110k. Got me a Mercedes which I’ve had 6 of them and always been good to me with just regular maintenance. But the BMW will always be the ultimate driving machine, I loved it! The performance! The handing! Hands down the best fun cars I’ve owned. I’ll get another one soon.

I'm only interested in 3-9 year reliability, anything beyond that should be a classic car territory. People say that modern cars don't last long, but what cars last long? How long are you planning to live? Are you buying a car at the age of 30 and planning on selling it at 60? Seriously,30 years? Well, even oil tankers usually scrapped after 30 years of service. Yes, old cars that last usually sit in a garage to be driven once a year to a car show. I cannot come up with a good practical example of a "good ole car" that you can own for decades without a serious maintenance. What about technology? It gets old, airbags may not deploy, frame will rust, would you trust your life to an old piece of junk simply because the transmission is "unbreakable"? 🤓
