Thanks--your tip on keeping the hose clip/bail down while connecting is a pure gold nugget of knowledge! Exactly what I needed. I was struggling with a couple in my X5M, large connections with little to no working room. Hearing that click is crucial.

Thank you so much for the tip on the proper way to use these clip hoses. I had the lower hose pop off just as you said, fortunately it only cost me $30 in more coolant! I wish I had seen your video before. What a sense of security to hear that click, knowing the hose was securely installed. It made me appreciate the German engineering rather than question it.

Absolutely correct about the “U” clip and hose install, it should be in the locked position and clicked in. It’s a bit of a struggle, but works. Great vid.

What a great video !! Thanks. Who knew to push the clip in to install the hose?!! Several other factors. If you own a BMW, many of their cars they recommend changing the water pump every 60,000 miles. The VDO Continental pump is not very good. Part of the most critical part of the housing is plastic and gets hot, cold, hot, cold, freezes etc,,, thru many temp cycles. It warps and cracks and fails. We found a Hella Pierburg pump which has a much better aluminum housing and if you shop around they can be found more reasonable than other brands and is a real quality pump.

The Canon 70D is great, the video quality is amazing because the sensor is so big, but the downside is it's heavy. You do a lot of handheld shooting so you WILL notice. Also it doesn't have great image stabilization. It's not like a camcorder that has a floating lens, you know? So it's probably better suited to tripod work. A much lighter way to go would be the Canon HF R700 camcorder. It's ridiculously light and that might be important for you. It doesn't have the world's biggest sensor (I think it's 1/4") but its also way cheaper of course, about $200. It's got an audio-in for when you decide to go the lavalier microphone route, but it doesn't have a hotshoe for some stupid reason so I had to tape the wireless mic pack to the side. That was my first camera (the R600, which is the same thing). I've since upgraded to the Sony FDR-AX33 and I'm pretty happy with that. It's got a 1/2" sensor so it's really nice quality and does 4K (but I don't shoot 4K because it takes up so much HD space). If you're gonna spend $700 on a camera, I highly recommend the Sony.

I had a fairly related problem on my 540i e39.... The upper hose plastic end got brittle and the very end that has the knurl to hold the hoe and clamp from popping off had broke off basically the end about 1/4" of the plastic coupler that has the clip. So my upper hose was popping off under pressure at random times, I originally cut the original band off like you did and added my own adjustable clamp before I realized the knurl (bump) was missing... I ultimately replaced the whole hose unit with both new ends and its been good since...

I’m not able to get this thing to stay on with the lock up and I can’t seem to generate enough force to force it on closed or open really. It’s like it won’t go back on right. I really don’t want to have to redo the entire thermostat process again. How do you get enough leverage to seat that hose - clip up or down?

You actually can pull that clip up, and fully push that hose onto the thermostat and lower radiator connection then push the clip down, give the hose a " tug" , you can tell if the clip is engaged or not. .

WD40 when the hose wont clip in the o rings get really rubbery /grippy when air hits them and dries up and mainly because of the antifreeze that stuff actually is sticky when it dries up spray some wd40 on your finger and stick it in and spread it on the rubber o ring and it will slide on perfectly

I spent about two hours yesterday trying to remove the lower radiator hose at the bottom of the radiator on wife's Z4. Ended up very carefully using a Dremel tool to cut the connection and pry if wider with a screw driver. Had to be very careful not to cut into the connection fitting on the radiator. This was a last resort after giving up trying to just pry it off - that wasn't gonna happen.

@@xDistortionx1 Possibly but the cap should vent before the hose blows off, actually if the cap is bad I've seen the tank blow up before hose comes loose. I would look into getting a new hose, expansion tank and clip, not necessarily in that order, it might just be worn out. Bleeding the coolant is always a pain in these, It's hard to explain but last time I had to let the car heat up until the thermostat opens, add coolant and then rev the car up, shut the car off, add more coolant and do this 3x until it was full.
