We take our long term test bike, the 2019 BMW S1000RR M to Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground followed by a dyno run to test performance then we equip it with a full Akrapovic system and repeat the test.

    Great video.. really well put together and those results from the stock bike in euro regulations is something special.. I knew the 0-60 times would cause dramas in the comment section but many didn't notice it wasn't at sticky drag strip like Santa Pod with heated slick tyres to get the best time possible, this was a real world environment and you could clearly see the dust kicking up from one of your launches showing the bike struggling to grip!

    Tbf going by the launch it looked a bit iffy, it’s not the easiest bike to launch, it’s take a lot of getting used to.

    S1000rr with a akro exhaust, power commander and the right map this thing will kill anything. my old S100rr was at 191 at the rear tire with just a few touches mentioned above.

    0 to 60 on this bike should be 2.5 or so to 60 mph , I’ve a 2019 s1000r sport & it’s well under 3 seconds I’ve launch controls too but never use it , just floor it up through the quick shifter & the traction control will keep the front down anyway !!

    I'm still amazed at what figures that bike did stock on the dyno. It's a proper feat of engineering, Euro 5 and still only a 1000cc unlike some manufacturers who have gone to 1100 for their road bikes.

    A very happy dyno. This BMW is about 190-193hp to the rear wheel with full exhaust.

    The o2 sensor in these bikes does not effect wide open throttle. They do not compensate anything in open loop.

    Should do a decibel test of the Akrapovic pipe compared to stock. Is it something you can live with day to day, or is an obnoxious [albeit fun] pain in the ass ?

    I don't know but if its the law for your bike to have a cat is it not being used illegally if you remove it and so your insurance might be invalid or at least give them some excuse not to pay out if you had an accident?

    thats just rider error. the bike will easily do 0-60 in the low to sub 3 second range with proper tires and a rider that knows how to launch it. if this guy was getting o-60 in 4.5 seconds then hes doing something wrong because my 01 SV650S is faster than that.

    Great question! If they didn't do a re-flash or failing that, put a whole bunch of miles on it after the install, if that might explain the slow 0-60?

    Fiery Fugitive Race Pro 1 - launch control will only work in that mode.

    BMW tends to rate their bikes at the rear wheel but not say so... 202 is at least 215-220 crank... very nice.

    That dyno guy has no idea either!!! 184 at the rear wheel?? Its been consistently getting 202-207 hp at the rear wheel😂👍

    @@andyp9040 If it was a different brand that would have been a reasonable guess... I AM a bit surprised that he didn't know BMW do this. If I buy a Ducati (my fanboi brand) and they say (202hp) I expect them to be 180-185 at the rear wheel... same for most other brands - but not BMW... they always underrate.

    BMW need to very soon revamp the electronic to be able to change settings while driving the bike. As it is you need to stop dead to change the settings. But more importantly fix the dam flat spot up to 8,000 rpms . it can be done cause there is a flash on the ECU that fixes it but the after market company charges 700.00 ( motomillions)

    It’s not actually required as the bike runs wide band sensors, to get the absolute most out of it a map would be ideal but without one it’s perfectly fine.

    Gsxr 1000 actually is wheel to wheel wit the bmw due to the torque curve of the gsxr 1000 even though the gixxer doesnt make the hp that the bmw does

    @@clutchshot247 the bmw and the gixxer are also geared way lower than the zx 10 rr . the gixxer and Beemer 45 r 17f the zx 10 rr is 39 r 17 r. Big difference

    Bike looks awesome . . .better than most of the other bikes except maybe for Ducati. Just a bit disappointing in the acceleration. Puts the performance of something like a Lamborghini Huracan in a whole new respectful perspective...

    Wasn’t expecting him to be a drag time professional but 4.5 second 0-60 time on these bikes is very slow lol. Should be able to get into the low 3 seconds easily.

    I have launch control on my bike, I havnt used it once... im not sure I trust it, and it will give me a slower 0-60. KTM 790 Duke btw.

    Alex Miller It’s an art form and I tend to agree about not using and being faster but there’s a huge amount of power and torque on tap with the BMW.

    O to 60 ml/h is weak, for the stock Bike, and the one with the Different Pipe System,too. In the German "Motorrad " Magazine they did 3,3 sec from O to 100km/h, which is even more than 60 Miles/hour. And from O to 200 km/ h it took the stock Bike ( which even was the old Modell, with 193 PS ) only 6,9 Seconds. Maybe they should have been taken another Rider...but on the other Hand,it's His Bike,so that is, what counts. Sorry for my English, I am from Germany,and Greetings from the wonderful Ostfriesland, Germany O

    202hp to the wheel stock?? Why does this not sound right....bmw claim 203 to the crank how is it you are only losing 1 hp thru the drive train......also impressive gain from akro 👍🏻 would be even better with air filter and tune....

    There are lots of variables affecting dyno numbers including individual dyno machines themselves. It’s not an exact science

    BMW always quote BHP at the wheel … I’m lucky to have a 2021 M Sport it’s an amazing machine and the power being stated is genuine , I’ve had an SP Blade , Aprilia RSV 4 factory, 2 F4 MV Augusta’s and this bike has so much more power.

    Nope. We did three speed runs in the morning with the standard exhaust, then three in the afternoon with the Akrapovic system. There was nothing done to the mapping, the BMW is a very clever machine which works out the air/fuel ratio itself.     4.5 seconds 0-60. Stoped watching there. That is just a joke. 184 bhp? That is less than the old S1000RR would have - what kind of guess is that? :( The bike is a looker though. EDIT: BMW Germany gives 3.1 seconds 0-100 km/h (62 mph). What did you do to lose 1.4 secs?

    $1600 pounds plus for an exhaust..... what a freakin' joke. You could have gotten an eBay special for $100 and got the same amount of horsepower gains, all it did was free up the horsepower that was already there being highly restricted by the stock system.

    @@VASILLEVSKI1878 I beg to differ. 99% can barely ride this bike beyond 10% of its ability so yes, a full exhaust is a complete waste of dosh. Better off spending that paper on better gear and signing up for a racing course(s) to improve one's skillset as opposed to making the bike quicker in the mid

    @@bennettsbikesocial I wasn't trying to come across as negative, I think you make some amazing content Michael but to go to all the time and effort of getting the new flagship model to a air field with the correct data equipment to get accurate times, and then come away with those times is a bit of a joke, If you were just doing it as a bit of fun id understand but 4.5 seconds to 60 really? did you not think that was a bit poor and want to retry, maybe without launch control etc? not mocking i realise a lot of time, effort and money goes into these videos but maybe just something to take forward into future videos that you need to take into account the riders ability and if something isn't performing as you think it should ask why and fix it rather than just putting the video out and wondering why people are critical of it, if id just spent £20+k on my new flagship bmw and found it does 0-60 slower than a old street triple id be a bit miffed aswell.

    RH 85\G I think he’s just saying that the bike should be able to hit those speeds faster given the hp numbers. I was as surprised being that my little zx6r was tested to do 0-60 in 3.1 sec.

    Just goes to show for an average rider a lot of power is difficult to manage. A SV650 is faster than that 0-60 too and I'd bet for most people most of the time would be faster off the line in the real world just because the power is manageable.
