Was not going to watch this until I noticed the great John McGuinness ... then I had to watch it. Thank you! Made my day!
Superb choice of test pilot , isn't he just such a grounded amazingly talented guy , great vid , unbiased review Top job
Enjoyed hearing the legends opinion! Thank you, John
John is the man.. gave straight forward seat of the pants opinion. Great Job by bringing in John for the review.

The best thing i like about John McGuinness is that he is like an average run-of-the-mill dad.

That BMW is just such a good package overall... that’s the one that would take my money. (Especially with the Akra can) I’d always looks at the Aprilia if one was nearby though.
Thank you Mr Guinness , Great video 👍🏾💯
I’d love to see McGuinness at Tyco BMW

Loving this channel. Well done bennetts.
Always a pleasure to hear John💜👍
McGuinness = Absolute Legend! Always love hearing what he has to say I know this won't be popular, but I kinda of want the man to hang up his competitive lid; he's been so successful, he's got absolutely nothing to prove to anyone, he's got his lovely family..., I mean, I want him to do what he wants to do, but I just hope he doesn't push beyond what his years can support...
beautiful shots ! compliments you feel like sitting on the bike and listen to the screaming engines. Great !
I hope you do more of these with John!
Two Great Bikes but the Rsv4 Sound ist better
Just these statements that tell a lot about the bikes and how they connect to the rider which makes this clip a very good one IMO
Great video and as ever John McGuiness comes across so naturally and a goof guy who just loves bikes 👍🏻
You cant ask a man that passionate about bikes which one he likes best. He has 52 at home. Lol
Awesome bikes Great vid Thankyou ✌😊❤
The sound of the R$V4 Factory! WAUW!!!!!!!!!!!!
Imagine doing a track day and John McGuinnes flies past. Better still, you fly past him!
Would love John to ride an s1000RR for Tyco/Smiths racing etc. He'd be back on the podium at the TT/ NW200 etc No one knows that course like him. Rekon if he sticks with the 600cc Padgett machine hell sound. Was 4th in qualifying at the TT. A true legend.

Humble legend, John McGuinness. Great review as well!
Great video, thank you. Legend can be an over used term in respect of bike racers but fits here without question. BMW for me 🤘
Great review by a legend. Funny, how he couldn’t wait to try the Beemer that’s been giving him headaches out on the Course...
Being a girly with long legs but shorter arms and stuff guys, sounds like the Aprilla's for me. Although, I would love one of each. My Benelli 1130 sport is a small bike for the engine size. It must be an Italian thing! 😍
That was great - thanks.

Quick correction: 204hp and 214hp are crank numbers, not rear wheel... unless your dyno is way off of reality. Cycle World’s dyno posted 182 for the BMW, which matches the advertised crank figure of 205hp from BMW when you subtract the average drivetrain loss of around 10%.
off the Aprilia straight away, when Johno said it looked like a 250!!
Great to see McPint on the channel !! Question.. Did you guys try different map settings on the bikes? being an Aprilia owner and ridden the BMW it makes a big difference to the throttle response changing maps on both. It always surprises me that reviewers don't change settings, power and suspension settings when the manufacturers spend millions £ developing them
@bennettsbikesocial

S K We played with some but not all of the settings. You’re absolutely right, it’s important to find the ideal combination for your style of riding. I’m just back from the R1 launch and certainly found a slightly softer power setting more beneficial on corner exit.

He's right, anybody above 1,80m or 5"11 will struggle to find room on it, I had one in the past and being 6" tall, had to get a special rearset build for me and raised the seat... but beside these ergo details that can easily get tuned, it is an absolutely fantastic bike, both the 1000 RF or the 1100. the 1000 might be easier to use.

Right to a degree. Norton used to use 65 V4 998cc from Aprilia, i think up till 2015 or 16/ then move onto 72 degree 1200 V4, and that is a massive difference.

@The-Randomest-Guy

@@ChrisMag100 yeah, but on the RSV4 it's a euro 5 emissions compliant system with a catalytic converter. There's no two ways about it, that will reduce power and increase weight. I lost 5kg and gained 4bhp by just getting rid of my catted exhaust. The BMW had a unrestricted full aftermarket system on that added 11bhp and reduced weight by quite a few kg.

Sierra Nevada It’s just how we’re running our long-term BMW at the moment which agreeably isn’t how some might wish to see head-to-head tests although the extra power figure and torque figures are in the mid-range, not peak, which is where the Aprilia is particularly strong. By having the modifications on the BMW it aligns the two bikes for retail price. They’re both very strong bikes on and off track! I think if anyone was going to choose between these two then they’d ride both to begin with.
Essa BMW está top!!
Where's the wide-angle lens?
I personally believe that no matter how good middle aged men think they look in one piece racing leathers, we should be warned it is going to happen, so we can make a booking with our therapist, soon after watching the clip.
One thing I noticed on every video where Aprilia is reviewed is : everytime Aprilia is on screen I turn volume up and everytime other bikes (in this case the bmw) are showing volume is being turned down
anyone know the outro music?
Next video will be with Guy Martin i hope?))))

Awesome Aprilia..!!
As someone who only owns bikes with carbs, the only place i'd like a little assistance from a throttle mapping is the initial opening of the throttle body, to prevent the jolt when on max lean on an apex. I tried an early sv650 with injection, and honestly that was no better than my 30 year old bikes... is that "problem" gone on new bikes? PS i tend to just solve the problem by running higher RPMs when i go for a corner on high lean - no biggie really
188KG wet? In that case the beemer is in D675 territory, I like :)
That Aprilia would be amazing if they could shed some weight it’s just too heavy even with 217 hp

Agreed, for the track the BMW is the better bike purely because of how predictable and boring it is which is perfect when you’re racing. And as you say the capacity restrictions. Also a lot lighter. But for the road the Aprilia is better hands down.

Fahad Ladha It certainly makes its power on quite a secretive way - you don’t feel fast but with 204bhp and plenty of torque in its standard format, you can cover plenty of ground. I understand what you mean about the character of the V4 offering more of a riding experience too. Cheers, Michael

So the BMW is de-catted with 11bhp, 9.5nm extra and less weight... But you're comparing it to a bone stock bike? Imagine adding 11bhp to any motorbike! Was the race ecu at least activated for the Aprilia?
@bennettsbikesocial
4 жыл бұрын
It’s 11bhp extra in the mid-range, c. 8.5k rpm, not peak. And it’s the mid-range where the Aprilia is particularly strong. We’ve been running the BMW with a full system for a while and thought the Aprilia was the only modern day bike with similar performance... and price once the Alta system is included. It was never meant to mislead which is why I mention it so blatantly in the intro to the video. Yes, the RACE mode was activated on the RSV4.
Rsv4 1100 factory 💯👀🏍
Well this was aggravatingly unhelpful. If John McGuinness can't decide 🤣 Although he was leaning more towards the BMW....
John on a bmw next year then
Put a full sisten.and reflash the.ecu in the aprilia to and then we talk abaut
Definitely the Beamer for me.... Or maybe the Aprilia....No, deffo the Beamer, honest! 🤦♂️😂
I love the BMW but I'll take the Aprilia. Reason being that I prefer the animal that needs to be tamed rather than the BMW, because it's so easy to ride, that I'd be racing everywhere at top speed EVERYWHERE! It's soooooo capable that it rides itself, it disappears underneath you, which for me is not what I need as I would stalk the streets looking for things to kill. It would be the end of my license, kinda like with my H2.
