BMW R80 Engine Rebuild - Step by Step // Crank Shaft, Cam Shaft, Oil Pump & Main Seal // Pt.1
In this episode I rebuild a 1979 BMW R80/7 engine from scratch. Starting with the crank shaft, then main seal, cam shaft and oil pump. As I go through this, I explain what I'm doing and why I'm doing it, to help you either build along with me on your own motorcycle, or learn for your own general interest.

Working on it! Thanks for the encouragement and sorry for the delay. Life, kids and other hobbies got in the way. Planning to start up the video making machine next week.
Hey how do you know what spec to torque certain bolts to?
Hiya is there a part 2,?

There is. It’s filmed. Just need to edit it. Coming soon. Promise.
Great video. Thanks for posting. Do you have a detailed video of installing a Siebenrock power kit? I'd like to see a video of the Big Bore 1070 kit installed in a bike without taking the motor out of the frame. That would be incredibly helpful in case you have any plans for that in the future.

@@montmoto That would be excellent. I will be waiting eagerly! Thank you.
Marcus, what did you use to block the crank in place while you installed the rear main seal, etc?

I bought a tool on cyckeworx. I think there is a link in the description.
Hey Marcus, I've been keeping up with your channel and I'm really enjoying it! I am currently building a custom bmw R80RT 1983 and have the engine fully disassembled and in the process of ordering parts for the rebuild. Do you have a estimated date from Pt. 2 of this video series? From what I've seen so far your video style and detail on the process of rebuilding a bmw engine is one of the best on youtube. I would love to see future videos from you! :) Cheers Drew

Hey Drew. Thanks for such a positive comment - much appreciated. I’ve filmed the second part of the engine rebuild. I just need to find time to create the video. Hopefully get it up in the next couple of weeks if everything goes to plan. :)

Also, you should check out ‘Brooks Garage’ if you haven’t discovered him on KZread yet. A complete legend in the BMW Airhead community. If he doesn’t know it, it’s not worth knowing.

@@montmoto Great to hear it’s in the works. I know how long it can take to edit a video! Best of luck and looking forward to it. 👍🏼

I need a little more context here
is this man irish.
Please don't add ANY music, especially this repetitive computer-generated stuff. It seriously detracts from what would otherwise be a very good video.
