BMW R1300GS or Not?

There is a massive hype about the NEW BMW r1300GS.
It's a beast. Mr sheep's chopper himself switched the wheelie control off. What a guy, hey. And the tea kettle just got himself the best GS ever-massive, BMW Awesomeness.
The ..... is babbling the Marketing from the rooftops.
That is how it goes today; the new is always the best, right?
I'm a diehard GS rider and a boxer fan. But I am not a Fanboy. A nodding Dog?
To be clear, it is a fantastic bike. But .... No the GS is not what it seems.
Keep it up and enjoy the video. Steph

    Beauty indeed. More power, lighter, better breaks, better handling and better looks than the predecessor. Great job BMW!

    It looks...delicate. My 1250 looks big and tough. Yes, looks are critically important in an emotional decision like spending big bucks on a motorcycle. Likely the looks will grow on me in a few years.

    All manufacturers have been copying the top selling BMW GS's for many years. Now BMW are copying other manufactures with the 1300GS....Its more Multistrada now...or (GStrom i call it) because it now looks more Japanese! I shall keep what i have thanks...i hope they do a better job with the new GSA.

    I wonder if a new GSA is actually coming. Looking at this bike, I'll cant imaging a offroad 1300. Most people by a GSA because it is the biggest bike. Thats all.

    It was inevitable that Bmw should further evolve the GS being lighter and with more torque and ps. Also, interesting is the suspension that lowers under 30 kmh, especially for a shorty like me. What I don’t like; braking lights, radar, electronic side cases illuminated inside and central locking, styling . Electronic overkill. Could be expensive. I still Love the brutal looks of my Triple Black GS and offers more power than I can safely use. Greetings, Jim Berlin

    think it looks fantastic, it was the finish on my 1200 that put me off BMW they wouldnt do anything despite the paint falling of the frame and final drive assembly in under two years. bike was treated with ACF50 from day one and only washed with BMW recommended cleaners. until they fix the finish, I won't be back. great bikes mechanicaly.

    Yes, finishing can be a big turn-off. My 1250 is superb 👌. There is one thing I truly dislike, is poor workmanship. This is where I kick the doors in. No excuses 👍

    Any idea what the rain and wind protection is like on the road compared to a 1250 GSA?

  • @MOTOTravelUK

    @MOTOTravelUK

    6 ай бұрын

    Wind protection is noticeable better than on the 1250 but not as good as the GSA with a big touring screen. As for rain protection ? The bike is slimmer and will not be as good as your GSA, where you have this massive fuel tank to hide behind. This more of a logical assumption than a proven fact. The Bike is more a sport tourer than a semi offr oader. I like the feel of the bike. But there is to much plastic everywhere to fully appreciate the off road capabilities.

  • @MOTOTravelUK

    @MOTOTravelUK

    5 ай бұрын

    No, I wouldn't. It's not a new bike, anyway. My 1250 was from new. Thinking about it now, it was a mistake 🤔. Nothing about the bike. It performed brilliantly. But the concept of a new bike and making many miles is wrong. Numbers don't add up. If you get over the " I need a new bike now", you're way more chilled out and take it for what it is. A tool to see more from the world.

    @@MOTOTravelUK Thanks! My question was, if you had no bike and you'd have to choose between the 1250 and the 1300, new, or second hand either one, would you prefer the 1250, or the 1300? I remember seeing a video, where the guy said he'd rather have the 1250. Cheers!
