Chris Rides The New BMW R 1300 GS | Launch Review
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
We've been awaiting for this one, Chris has spent a lot of time on all of the GS', who better to really get under the skin of the new 2023 BMW R 1300 GS. He spent a full day on the road, then another off road, lots of small changes add up to a better bike all-round. As Chris says, you need to spend some time with this bike before you really get it, book a long test ride!

I’ll admit it, I’m only subscribed to this channel to hear this man’s opinions, watch his skids and the occasional drag race

He’s a nice guy too !! Others, with his talents, can get a bit verbose and arrogant … Not Chris.

Yeah Chris does have that screen presence that's for sure.
Consistently the best bike reviewer on KZread, thanks Chris. This bike could convince me to move over the the GS way of life!

BMW Bikes arent a bavarian product. They are developed and build in Berlin Spandau. And Some Models are tested at Autodrome de Miramas in southfrance. :-)

Yes. 30 seconds in, and Chris is backing it in, doing massive jumps and skids. Every other site : "We ride the new GS on and off road". BikeWorld's Mentalist : "RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!!!!!" I wish I had 10% of your riding skills, but just watching you reminds me that the limits of my bike is .. just me. It's so confidence inspiring, and an utter joy to watch. Cheers from a late 40s viking dane who wants to be you when I grow up. Thanks for being you!
The best 1300gs review I’ve seen. Technical enough to explain the differences but simple enough to inform a none technical person like me. Great review

No matter who you are, there is no one who presents, explains and tests a bike the way you do! It's because of this that you will always be in first place when it comes to testrides and all that it encompasses, congratulations Chris 👏🏼 you always deliver!
Best review so far, and can’t see it being beaten. Good luck Chris 🏁
No journalist in the world rides as hard as Chris and also knows his onions to his level! Great review
A presentation how it should be compared to all the others including 1000PS. This was the most interesting presentation of all of the new GS1300.

Most in-depth and complete review! Absolute joy to watch! Thanks a million!
Wow what a review it's best I've seen so far, Chris really tells you everything you ought to know but still implores you to test the GS yourself all three of them. I've now subscribed, Well done Chris!

M1000XR next please, I need to hear this man's opinion on that bike.
As usual, very informative review. Covers the info that’s important to real riders rather than just repeating marketing fluff. Chris is always one of the best. 👏
Great review, Chris. Especially liked your explanation of the new active spring rate technology - nice and easy to understand. 👍

Indeed. Every other review I saw just glossed over it and never bothered to explain. It is rather simple and Chris explained it in the most inteligible way possible. Great stuff.
Chris northover really is a bloody brilliant bike journalist, incredible knowledge, balanced opinions with real world unbiased view. as always bravo to you chris
Always eager to hear what Chris thinks about new bikes. I love his reference to the older 1150GS model.
Chris consistently control sliding the rear wheel in the turn, on tarmac is mighty impressive.. Top Man!

Not control sliding, it’s skidding! What for? Just erratic posing, I’d rather be smooth and fast.

@@terryandrews1404i‘d rather be able to confidently „pose“ than go fast. I am riding for fun, nut to beat anyones times.
This channel just gets better and better, best review of this bike I’ve seen so far.
I love everything here (despite not being a GS boy) but the slow mo shots are absolutely incredible! Love the work

We’ve all been waiting for your review - and you never disappoint. Thank you Chris and team 🥰🙏
Best motorcycle reviewer on KZread …. Keep up the good work
And there, you have it. A proper, professional, at work. Now I get this bike. And have a better understanding, before a test ride. Nice one Chris! I’ll be on one in 3 years.
The best reviews consistently, intelligent, informative and articulate. Top man 👍
Great review Chris, you're the best both with technical stuff and the real feeling of a bike!
You could put wheels on a broomstick and this guy would love it.

gotta remember these videos are sponsored. You think he's gonna hate on a bike when sponsors are on the line?
Thanks for being the only one explaining the rear "double spring" system... reviews nowadays are pretty shame. Good job, thanks again
Now the front tire slides, those are impressive....
Just revisited this supreme review by Chris after having just spent six nuts days in Portugal with the ORS crew pushing myself to the limits on and off road with this exceptional bike and I agree with his very accurate appraisal. Caveat - I'm more like a Gloucester Old Spot piloting a space shuttle than being anywhere near his performance obvs but his review entirely reflects what I think I experienced. Erm. I'm compelled to have one.
this guy is the best motorcycle reviewer. Love him!
14:10 jep, that's I like to "ride" a GS, braaaph! It is one thing you have mentioned: character! Very hard decision! Seriously, thank you very much, Chris. It is very close selfridden that thang!
Best Gs review so far for real riding enthusiasts. Thank you Chris, top job.
I was listening to Chris speak about the older 1150 GS and all of it resonated true with my 1200S Multistrada as well. Its got that rough lumpy bumpiness, raw aggression and just that hint of imperfection that makes it ever so special an experience every time one is on the saddle. Looking to pick up the 1300 GS next year but I’ll still love my imperfect, old school 1200S MTS to bits.
I've been waiting what seems ages for this review to drop, it's been well worth the wait, great review of the new GS, 👍👍
Hey Chris, been waiting for your review, wow you certainly make a bike look easy to ride!! Best review I've seen to date for sure buddy
Great review - one of the best bike reviews I have seen. Well done
Opens with "has it lost its character" then immediately cuts to backing it into a corner and jumping, which is an everyday occurrence for most GS riders. Love it.
Spot on,,, think almost every review Chris does is bang on,, keep up the excellent work ,,, with your genuine reviews
YOU have to test the new F900GS as soon as it is possible!!
Outstanding review. This is my first time seeing Chris -- the boy can definitely ride and he knows what he's talking about.

One of the most helpful reviews so far - much more useful than some of the 'gushy' reviews on other channels. Plus, it's great to see you riding the bike to it's limit and potential, both on and off road. I would like to to think my riding reaches that level of competence one day, but I doubt it!
Very thorough review, it's a breath of fresh air to get details from a UK based motorcycle content creator, thanks Chris.
Chris this is the best review published so far. What a premise at the very beginning: bmw made it better but have they lost the character? And then solid analysis of how the bike behaves in different circumstances. I especially like your focus on adjustable spring rate. This is a first and it seemed to be a breakthrough. As you pointed out it’s responsible for so many good things in terms of handling on this bike. Thank you.
Ok its decided , chris is my new favorite test rider of all test riders ever , i predict big things for chris in next year and well deserved 👏
Agreed, best review of the new GS so far and insightful Chris. As a 1250 GS Adventure owner I'm naturally already interested in the new 1300, so this has been great; cheers...
Extremely talented bloke always a pleasure to watch
Chris! Dammit, you are number 1 test driver! I love your reviews and the way you get around everything! Keep doing what you do best my man 💪🏼
excellent, concise review. Thank you Chris
Best 1300 review I’ve watched and I’ve watched lots of them!
Excellent review! Thank you!
thank you, chris. this is the review for which i always wait. when chris speaks, i listen. chris' reviews probably matters to me more than anyone else's. chris actually rides the shit of out these bikes and finds the limits. thank you, chris. much love.
I love it it’s so much nicer than the old one! Fantastic looking!!!👍💯🇺🇸😎
this is the best 1300gs review there is atm, thanks Chris
Great review Chris - first review to mention technically the suspension improvements - that’s the biggest reason for me to buy it. I ride my current GS 2 up a lot of the time and it needs to be firm when cracking on, on B roads. Cheers Chris👍
The engine performance and, the handling details and nuances that other reviewers miss (or are simply unaware of), makes this review (and Chris) a standout. Anyone with a performance or technical bent to what they want from the new GS (or any new bike) should watch his reviews. As a current 1250 owner I can't wait to try the new 1300. I have high expectations that, at least for me, the new GS will be everything I wanted my old bike to be while keeping most everything that I liked about it. If the 1300 lives up to my expectations I might be tempted to live with several less bikes in my garage. 😄
Great all round summing up Chris 👍 Do like the neater looks of the 1300.
The gs is never an adventure motorcycle. It Is just a touring motorbike. Adventure is just a marketing word that BMW uses so brilliantly.
Outstanding review. Thanks!
Best review by a mile so far! 🙌
Nice review Chris, good to see you out and about with the crew, doing your "stuff"
Sliding that press GS through the corners made me grin :)
Another great review by Chris, he's now my go too guy for bike reviews

Wow, Chris, what a totally impressive review. First time I see you and it reeks of deep bike knowledge and insights from a ton of experience. Kudos! You're right up there with the very best. Thanks! --A great bike too, yet, the M XR is out now...
Finally a proper review!! Got tired of all the so called reviews that actually explain nothing and are actually more like a marketing presentation. Now i get the new suspension and what it does. Thanks and keep at it, verry good content 👍👍
Great review mate, you presented what's good n bad about this newly criticised GS 1300 very well..and tht scenery
As you always do very well summarised in the end.
Chis and Nevesy are by far the best reviewers on YT by far, I even watch all of this and have no intention of ever buying one of these things.
Great review thanks!
Great review Chris!
For someone SO talented and capable to review a bike so WELL for us normal humans is really a credit to their professionalism and their generous journalism. Thanks!
Great review, thanks for your insights.
What an outstanding bike, BMW has done it again. Would love to have this in my garage one day

Just stumbled across this channel and I've got to say: really superb reviewer. Doesn''t talk out of his ass but knows the topic and finds the right and interesting nuances to describe. Nice.
Great review as always 👍🏻
Thanks for doing an actual review, unlike many other journalists just parroting back the press kit BS...
Im here for Chris!
Great review as usual, great job 👍
Great video cool motorcycle. Thanks for the upload
Another great review love your explanations so easy too understand.😊don’t like the idea of not having a rear light, indicator lights not sure .
I think he is one of the most talented bike journalists out there. Thanks 🎉🎉
Best review yet!
Great review....by far the best on KZread every other KZreadr vloger is bought off my manufacturers supplying them with freebie bikes and junkets...notice it more and more with KZread...
thanks, Chris!
Awesome video! Best!
Best GS review so far💯
Consistently the most knowledgeable, concise and entertaining presentation on KZread, great work Chris. Bike looks and sounds like a winner, again but I'll stick with my KTM 1290 SAS.
I really appreciate the expert, rider’s perspective details of how the bike is set up and how it performs, regarding the new front and rear suspension configurations, the throttle mapping in the various modes, and the increased differences among the models. It was really quite apt, and fun, to see snippets from Chris’s review of the 2017 R1200GS Rallye. The jumps and skids in this video are very reminiscent of those from years ago, and even the end of day caked dirt looks familiar. I bought that bike back then, based largely on Chris’s review. The new bike seems like the mechanical equivalent of a thirty-something former college athlete who got his or her first “real job,” has worked in offices for years, and has watched their middle increase and their fitness decline. With a determined and sustained effort, they lose the flab and become lean and athletic and full of energy again. The R1300GS is the trimmed down, more taught, more focused kernel of what was hiding inside the R1250GS. Now, for more fun, compare this with Chris’s Bike World review of the Multistrada V4 Rally. Hmm, a real conundrum.

The Rallye is an amazing bike.
Great review!
Chris is the best reviewer.
Hi Chris, thanks for this comprehensive video! I'm going to get my 1st GS in June this year and I'm thinking of going off road, but I don't know if I should go for the spoke rims or the forged rims! Thanks for your advice
Excellent review!
8:50. The hand gestures were critical in this part of the narration.
Always have enjoyed Chris's perspective and drive style. My Gs's always responded well to pushing slightly on the bar opposite steer in tightening corners, can't say i'm not disappointed they still have a clunky gearbox/shifter.
Hey Chris, superb Review - thank you! Does it make sense to choose the sports suspension if you mainly want to drive very sportily on the road? Is the damping behavior better for sporting use - also in Road- or Dynamic-Mode (Suspension) ?
best review so far.
