Old mechanic, if you ever lose the oil filler cap tool there is a backup, under the pillion seat on the screwdriver, pull out the metal part of the screwdriver and then at the end of the black handle is the same tool that fits the oil cap 👍

You are 100% correct Old Mac. About 10 years ago I asked a motorcycle mechanic why does he use a torque wrench on the bike. He said what you said when I told him I use my hand to tighten the oil filter. I been torquing ever since. I know your a busy mechanic so welcome back. Be safe. Randy

Thank you Old Mechanic. I liked your torquing of the filter, the manufacurers know more about the bike than some man down the pub... Thank you for the timings as well, makes things easier.

11:05 thanks Old mechanic. You are right, the torque wrench is the best to do the job. Few years ago I damage my motorcycle (the oil filter lid. It was not an external oil filter) doing an oil change. After this bad experience, I never make an oil change or other jobs in my motorcycle without the torque wrench.

Looking forward to see the Fork oil change … I have the same bike, it does make a ticking noise on the left cylinder when accelerating, does this model need an upgrade on the chain tensioner?

From watching your videos I am now able to do most servicing on my 2016 R1200R LC...ie. oil n filter, air filter, final drive oil and lube splines and replace plugs and check valve clearances, bleed brakes and ABS unit using Motoscan App, not game to tackle electronic front forks yet, but can one be certain even maintaining the service requirements listed that the engine is properly tuned or does that require more sophisticated computerised software only available at a BMW service centre?

A great video, as always. I do want to ask if and how you reset the computer when you change the oil, or don't you do it at all?

just a question. I saw that you use a copper gasket for the oil drain plug. An aluminum gasket is listed in the original spare parts catalogue. Thanks, regards, Argo

Hallo old mechanic. Zijn de watergekoelde 1200gs modellen van 2014-2015 goed of kennen ze veel kinderziektes? Of zou u eerder vanaf bouwjaar 2017 (facelift) kijken? Ik hoor graag uw advies.

Being a short guy, you and me have that in common How do you maneuver your bike? Like to push it onto a trailer. Push it up the driveway Or even picking it up when it is on its side? I am real curious. I just bought a 2011 r1200 GSA Big gas tank. Thank you

Tks for your video. The drain plug is a 10mm allen, not torx 55, at least in my GS 1200 LC 2018. Cheers from Mexico.
