BMW R1150 RT : Boxer Reise Tour
Featuring the BMW R1150 RT registered in 2003.
It is probably the most comfortable bike I ever owned. I use it especially for long distances, such as holidays to Sauerland, Eifel, Vogezen and the French Alpes. The seat on the bike is unsurpassed, even after many hours and miles.
The boxer engine is quite simple, keeps on running at all times and the enforced brakes are really awesome, especially in the mountains going downhill. The wind protection is important, maintaining speeds around 130 km/u on the highways in Germany and France with the adjustable Z Technics screen. Once there, I choose the smaller N and D roads, the steering characteristics of the BMW are superb with small roads or heavy corners.

For shorter distances or very hot weather, I use my Yamaha TDM 900.

Yes I agree entirely. I had the R1150RT and then bought the R1200RT. The 1150 was definitely the more comfortable of the two. It was marginally slower and had the same serious flaw with the ABS failures as the 1200, but my preference would be the 1150 , it was a much better all round bike for everyday commuting or long distance touring.

I have two hips and an leftknee that are artificial. its an old habit from the time before that artificial stuff with painfull hips and knee. Its not neccesary anymore to do it by hand, but i am still used to do it that way. .

Danke Frans, super Video - endlich sieht man mal genau, wie man auf einer RT sitzt. Was kannst Du zu Geschwindigkeiten jenseits der 140 km/h (Autobahn) sagen, passt das mit dem Windschutz? Grüße aus Brandenburg

Das ist überhaupt kein Problem, Ich habe eine Z-Technik Windschutz und das ist viel besser als das original. Ich fahre nie über 150, das ist früh genug für eine RT.

I have an r 1150 r . Nice bike. Lots of idiocincrocies. Only complaint is that for an 1150 it is slow. Very slow.

It's a heavy bike made for comfortable travelling around 3500 rpm. It's not a K bike with 135 pk.
What I don't like about it is that the original top case is way too small, it can't even accomodate a helmet, that's ridiculous !

I do not know the size of your head, but I had no trouble to store my Large helmet in the top case. Maybe you have a XXL integral helmet?
