I have had a bunch of different bikes. I have had one of these, and an r1100rt. Those bikes where a few bikes ago. Now on a r1200gs 2013. I love the bike I am on but I would be lying if I didn’t say that I miss this bike everyday. I believe deeply that this bike the r1150rt is the best motorcycle ever. It’s a perfect bike. BMW MADE IT. they did such a great job. I love every thing. About it. Super classy “not boring” a bad MFing machine. Thank you for all of the Mike’s of enjoyment I have lived on your bikes. World class. Lovely ride

Great review. I'm here in the US and found a stunning example (2002 with ABS) for sale with only 21,000 miles in excellent condition. The previous owner was very meticulous in maintaining and servicing the bike and came equipped with lots of great extras. I bought it two weeks ago without hesitation and I've been enjoying it very much. My last bike was a Harley-Davidson Ultra Classic, so this bike does take some getting used to. I fully expect this bike to carry me well past the 100K mileage mark.

Just bought a used R1100RT with only 34k miles in immaculate condition. My first BMW and wow, I'm impressed. I've owned pretty much every other brand out there. The BMW is as comfortable as my old Electraglide and almost as sporty feeling as my Ninja was. Also my first bike with electronic windshield, heated grips, and ABS....I didn't know what I was missing.

I'm a Freelance Architect, I've had these RT'z since 98, my 1st was a 'P' plate in blue,,,,,, I'm Not a Biker in the true sense. i only went onto 2 wheels due to so many new Rd works n Jams,,, i did a 3 day test thing-Passed, . got my Bike lec' and went str8 onto a BMW R110RT my 1st bike....OMG i fell in love with it and named it ''The Time Machine''... I went on to have a New 1150rt in 2001 when they came out.. , 2 more since, and still have a silver 02 with just 26k on the clock. . these RT'z have Never let me down, have ALL the pulling power and Grunt you ever need to leave sad Drivers behind you, and ya just get used to always getting to the front of( rd works,Junctions,Roundabouts, traffic jams, Accidents, Diversions and Delays)... Everything on it is brill....... NO complaints,,,,,, I also have the Slim lids Panniers for the City trips........ Anyway.... I cant list ALL the gr8 thigs about this Bike.... so anything -ve..... well .......- a bit heavy to move on tip toes, so an Ele Reverse would be a dream,,, and throw in an Ele Centre Stand too, Pedal adjustment for the longer legged would help a lot. The only thing i added was a Throttle Grip lock , for motorway cruising, better on the right wrist.....

Good review. Got a 1150 myself, pretty spot on points. On 52k, expect it to keep going. Had the ecu remapped to stop surging at low speed and gives all round better performance. Abs works a treat for me but understand others had issues.

I took my 2001 R1150RT to 130mph in 2017, and could have gone faster if I'd had more road.

Hello everyone. Please let me know what you think about this model with 100,000 km mileage. My friend is selling it in a practically showroom condition visually and technically everything seems to be fine, but the mileage is probably quite high for a motorcycle? I would like to buy it but I am afraid that something will suddenly start to break down due to the mileage. ABS was regenerated a week ago but this is a fairly well-known ailment of this model from what I have read and unfortunately expensive. I assume that after regeneration it will ride longer. Best regards to all

Nothing wrong with the 1150rt. Just a bit of 3rd gear surge. Maybe underpowered? But I loved mine

I have an rt1150it by far the worst bike ever. Brakes suck, engine throws you all over the place,. and it is about as comfortable as sitting on a stegosaurus. I hate this bike. There is a reason they are so cheap in the aftermarket. Wanna buy it?

They are cheap in the aftermarket because of maintenance costs. I do agree though the braking system highlighted here is dangerous

Paul, you don't deserve a R1150RT. Go buy a Harley, you sound like you have the attitude for it. If you know how to ride a bike the boxer engine is perfect, low center of gravity and very linear power. The brakes are great, if you know how to stop a motorcycle and of course the comfort is unmatched. So why would you purchase the bike if you hate it Paul? Why would you keep it? Get a Sportser, grow a beard, cut the sleeves off your jean jacket and head for Sturgis. Seriously Paul, it's a great bike; I have two of them (my 25th and 26th bikes). Every bike isn't for everybody. Find one you love and ride it like you stole it. Sell the 1150 and buy one you love. life's too short to complain.
