why is it 4 cylinder in the description?.. i see the other video of bmw motorcycle (1250ccm) it is 2 cylinder boxer... did bmw start making 4 cylinder boxers for their motorcycles??

When you see the meticulous engine production, your amazed. When you see any engine in it’s final days at the junkyard/recycling, you scratch your head.

This video is oddly... therapeutic to watch. Cheaper than actual therapy. Thanks!

98 years of horizontally oposed boxer twins. This engine is a marvellous piece of technology !

I’ve bought 3 BMW bikes over last 30 years. Super reliable. Coast to coast in Canada a few times without any issues. I’ve toured a HD plant and was amazed how backwards their assembly line was. But they had nice paint.

How was it backwards? Do you work in manufacturing?

Allow me to explain what is happening at 16:24. This is the station at which the valvetrain for a 2-cylinder engine is assembled. A worker fits a cam assembly and a head with valves in two fixtures. At this point the valves have no shims. The machine assembles the valvetrain and analyses its movement to determine the correct valve lash. Then the worker disassembles the valvetrain and installs the shims as directed to set the correct valve lash.

When I worked at a Soviet factory every assembly worker had hammer and file to make parts fit each other if they don't :)

agree but just call it boxer. Ah and just to give some unnecessary knowledge: Carl Benz (Mercedes) invented it. ;)

Урал не ваш,а американцев и 2 ляма здесь нечему стоить,только через маркетинг. Урал сейчас тоже не дёшев.

krass, die Materialprüfung, bzw. Endkontrolle sollte man bei KTM vllt auch mal einführen, dann würden die aktuellen Motoren auch mal etwas halten!

Came to watch the machining of the crankshaft but video is mostly about assembly of engine parts.

This is how the silky engine that tries to turn even beyond the red zone is made.

@ 4:55 Bit of a flash back in that it resembles an old dual quad set up.

The jigs...soooo complex!

love how the gearbox gets abducted at the end 😂

I hope BMW can fix the cracked piston/ring land issue on the K1600gt bikes, I really like this bike but I don't have money to buy a new engine every 5000 miles!

@Андрей Никонов а теперь объясни мне, как сука покупая ладу на роботе за хуеву тучу денег проезжаешь 20000км и каробка выходит в ошибку .... Как блять машины сгнивают, посмотри на УАЗ год машине вся ржавеет...покупаешь новую газель и все болты сука не затянуты !!!! Новая лада крос стоит 860к, так вот за эти деньги любуб б.у иномерку можно взять в ахуенном состоянии и комплектации !!! Цена нехуя не соответствует качеству. Я все сказал

Robots don't get sick... The humans are just quality control and assembly using fail proof special tools that can't be miss-used.

In assembly lines you dont do the same step all the time. You are trained to do a lot of the steps and work at a diffrent station every few days or weeks to avoid too much boredom.

That's the pickup wheel for the crank sensor, not a gear. The missing teeth trigger the control unit to synchronize with the crankshaft. The cam sensor is then used to determine which stroke the engine is on before spark and fuel are fed into the engine.
