When removing tamper dot, odometer just write 0, it will load new value from ibus by itself.

The factory ike is programmed with a mileage offset when the car is new ,I have seen them offset from 11 to 51 kms . So when the cars are new the mileage on the odometer will say 999989 if the mileage offset is 11 kms and that is for transport to the dealer the ike will hit 0 and the lcm and ews will show 11kms . So the ews and lcm are the actual mileage of the car . When you write mileage in the lcm with pa soft you just set it to 0 and when when turn the ignition off and on it will download the correct mileage from the ike with the proper mileage offset to the lcm. With pa soft you can check what your mileage offset is by going to the ike and under coding data then click ''Recoding'' it will show you what options are enabled on your ike and the bottom right corner will show you the mileage offset ,set mileage offset to 1 if you want the same mileage reading in ike and lcm

I just used you video and PA Soft BMW Scanner v1.4 to clear my tamper dot and to write my car’s VIN to a cheap secondhand LCM that I installed in my E53 X5. Thanks cery much for taking the time to upload this video. Very helpful. I’ve found PA Soft is very easy to use and worked first time (unlike NCS Expert).

The donor LCM keeps triggering an active fault for “no connection to rain sensor”. My car does not have a rain sensor, so the module is expecting to see a rain sensor which the donor car must’ve had. Is it possible to code my car’s features into the donor module? I know it’s possible to do this with NCS Expert (the software copies your car’s features from another module in the car), but I can’t get NCS to work on my computer. Cheers.

@@hackzgames yes, I’ve noticed that. Have already adjusted the VIN and mileage in a used LCM. I have also noticed that I can reprogram my GM3 module to lock the doors after the car gets to a pre-determined speed. Very user friendly, don’t need to be a German-speaking Rhodes scholar in order to work out how to use BMW Scanner 1.4

PA Soft is also great for calibrating your speedo to be dead accurate or setting the BMW service intervals to a more reasonable 10000kms or so, instead of 30,000km!

PASoft will also reprogram the temp gauge so it's not buffered from 75C to 115C at 12 o'clock. (At least on the e46 it's buffered that way.)

Thanks for sharing! I just saw a used newer LCM show up locally that I wanted to buy but didn't want to deal with a tamper dot in my E46. I've used PA Soft before to make my temp gauge in the instrument cluster more linear by removing the buffer zone that makes it always look like it's set in the middle. Always appreciate your helpful videos.

Nice work. It's funny BMW chose the light module as a place to store mileage (or KM's) & VIN. Is it an assumed replacement, in the case of an accident I wonder? Regardless, welll done. I'm doing a gradual replacement of old parts on the E60 and I keep thinking I should video it for others. It's always nice to hear someone do something with condfidence in an accent you're familiar with. Makes a job sound 'doable'.

Once bought a 330ci that had that little dot, wasn’t sure what I was, car had 100,000 miles on it, got told it was a tamper dot but previous mots matched so thought nothing of it! Sold it to a mate who then sold it on, mots then went digital to find out it had been clocked by 75000 miles! The new owner wasn’t very happy 😂

@@ZeroTo60Tube always look out for them now when buying BMWs, you’d be surprised the amount I’ve seen here in the uk that people have bought with out actually knowing what that little dot is! A friend bought a 330d that had the dot there n we found out that had been clocked by nearly 150000 miles! Great video though! Pretty sure this is very similar to what u do with the M3 dash in the 335i

why is it marked as alpina

Hi, I’ve BMW X3 E83 2.5i 2004 I swapped the original HID headlights to angels eyes that came with their control modules and it worked for a while like a month until low beam on the drivers side stopped working. I’ve tried replacing bulbs, even swapping the left headlights left to right still same issue remains I also tried replacing the original HID headlamps still problem remains no low beam on driver’s side only. Any ideas and help I would greatly appreciate thanks in advance

Gone are the days when you could stick your car in reverse when it's on Jack stands and literally reverse the mileage haha I had an old Peugeot that had a very temperamental speedo, and I didn't find out until months down the line that the mileage also didn't change when the speedo wasn't working

Replacing my LCM with a used unit today. What a coincidence

We can't remove the dot on the cluster with the reset button and hidden menu options instead using a laptop? like in the E36? The e46 menu says its on menu 15 but when I'm there I can't access the dot manipulation option.

No, you need a special cable. PA Soft (BMW Scanner v1.4) won't work with a regular D or K CAN cable.

@@ralphpecson7291 Are they this generation of clutser? Same as E46? Or are they based on a E36? I have never had anything to do with the older z3s mechanics. I feel like they are e36 electronics.

PA Soft looks user friendly compared to NCS Expert and Dummy. So nerve racking when doing custom coding (anything other than programming a virgin module is custom), especially with new software. Well done, my video would have been demonetized for sure for language, if I tried this. (I don't have any videos just saying it would be demonetized)

Ideally the LCM should be recoded with NCS Expert based on the ZCS so that it matches the options and functionality of the destination vehicle. May be lucky if it's been sourced from a similar vehicle though. For instance, for the E39 there are settings to tell the LCM whether the vehicle has the facelift LED tail lights. I believe that some of these things can be coded with PASoft but not all.

NCS Expert should be able to do that I think. I believe you need to write the vehicle order (VO) to it. Did you swap it or program it with the Alpina software? After I wrote the Alpina software to my E90 I needed to use NCS Expert to write the VO so I could get rid of the "Coding Missing" error.

@@TTGGReeDY So I have a pre-03/2007 build and had the old valve body. However I wanted to upgrade to the Alpina EGS software so I needed to get a 03/2007+ valve body. I bought one and replaced it then used WinKFP to program the Alpina software. Everything worked fine and I didn't lose the use of my paddle shifters. Years later I loaded the xHP Flashtool onto my phone and learned I had an error related to the VO not being coded to the EGS. I fixed that with NCS Expert. If I recall correctly (it has be nearly a decade now) when I programmed the EGS with the Alpina software using WinKFP, I wrote my VIN to the new EGS at that time. So at a minimum that is what I would think you need to do. You will need the BMW Standard Tools (version 2.12 is what I have) and the Daten for the E89/E9x chassis.
