BMW M4 CSL v Porsche 911 GT3: DRAG RACE

It’s time for an epic RWD showdown!
Mat’s got his hands on the all-new BMW M4 CSL, and he’s facing off against Yianni in the Porsche 911 GT3!
So let’s see how these two rear-powered rockets compare. Starting with the BMW, it’s packing a 3-litre twin-turbo straight-six under the bonnet that can deliver 550hp and 650Nm of torque. It’s 100kg lighter than the regular M4, tipping the scales at 1,625kg. If you want to pick one up, it’s pretty pricey, starting at £125,900!
Then we have the Porsche. It’s got a 4-litre flat-six slung over the rear axle, that can put down 510hp and 470Nm of torque. It’s a fair bit lighter than the BMW, at 1,435kg, and it also costs a bit more, coming in at £135,700.
So the Porsche is down on power - does that mean it’ll be a walkover for the BMW? Or will the Porsche’s lightweight, coupled with its awesome launch control system, propel it to victory? There’s only one way to find out - LET’S RACE!

On the outside shots of the car camera's you can see that the Porsche is actually dark blue. The purple is simply an error in their other camera's or editing. They got that error for quite some time now as it was also the case on the videos with the Golf R 8th gen.

yeah I dont know what Matt was doing. The G80/82 rwd has done 11.7 easily, so this should do at least 2 tenths better.
This GT3 is so damn cool, the design, the sound, the performance are spot on.

GT3’s might “only” have 500hp, but those horses are always overachievers
The improvement on the in-car camera quality on the last videos is quite noticeable!

idk i dont like it that much you can tell there is a lot of color grading involved which im not a huge fan of

@@tcp7 I assume, their interior camera used GoPros. And it had little bit of colour grading. GoPros had a lot of noise and it tried to get rid of it and it instead made it look like dogcrap. The new camera I assume they used and DSLR (Probably a Full-frame)+Log Profile+Colour Correct w/ DaVinci LUTs+ DaVinci Colour Grading (Probably Teal and Orange colour grading). All of these are my assumptions.
Biggest Porsche fan here, but the Csl is also something special. Was able to see two where I live and no one can say it is a bad car. Looks great, sounds good and bmw absolutely did something great with it

The answer is absolutely clear, BMW machine doesn’t stable. Not worth with it. If it is the race, BMW had lost already.

Hard disagree…they can’t make a proper launch system of a proper gearbox, and the car is frankly quite hideous 5/10….old M4 way better

The CSL used to be special back in the M3 CSL E46 era.
The GT3 is 300 and the M4 CSL is 174 CAD so for 50% off the M4 seems really attractive especially with the tune and mods you can do to the S58

M4 CSL look way better and it absolutely destroyed the Porsche on the rolling race. But i aslo love the Porsche too, it's also very beautiful. Both awesome.

No carwow is just a Porsche fanboy, he makes sure that they only post what benefits the Porsche. He did a corvette review for a c8 and he was getting mid 3’s for 0-60 when MANY MANY MANY MANY different KZread channels kept getting under 3 seconds. Most get 2.6 seconds. And carwow gets 3.5? Like really? Here is another one Porsche vs mclaren 720s. @dragtimes gets 9.7 quarter mile with his 720s and dragtimes keeps beating the Porsches, but carwow shows slower times and shows that Porsche keeps winning lol

Short for Coupé Sport Lightweight, first appearing on the iconic E9 3.0 CSL back in 1972. Nicknamed 'Batmobile' after its extreme aerodynamic package, the car was a homologation special, designed to allow BMW to compete in the European Touring Car Championship. So you reference track focus, like the ETCC! It's embarrassing to produce an M car with that suffix that can't get off the line, has a dodgy gearbox, can't stop properly and relies on being on boost for any real performance don't you think?
OMG, the editing again is brilliant! At first I giggled at Windows XP shutdown sound on camera failing, but was litterally laughing out loud in my room from the CarWow Film title. Fantastic job, the editor! 🎬👏

My friends always ask why I only have manual drive cars.... well this shows it pretty well. That BMW is a different animal when a person is in control of the gear box. Plus, if you do drive 10/10ths or anywhere near it, you don't want an unknown gear shift upsetting your cars balance. If you have ever had a 2nd gear slide starting and traction control kick in, its a moment for sure. If you own a fast car, turn off traction control as a startup procedure, nothing worse than a backseat driver who actually can control the cars systems. Plus, a great theft deterrent, met a 42 year old yesterday who had never driven a stick. Love it.
