Another very good video👍 Yes, it happens that aftermarket spare parts are both cheaper and higher quality. Thank you very much for the suggestion. 17:35

As always I love the video. Look forward to part 2 of this job. I am getting my parts in tomorrow for the rear brakes and all of it is OEM so I hope not to have a problem. I will let you know. Be well and be safe. Randy.

Note that the rubber cushioned front sprocket does not function at all like the cush drive on the rear sprocket. There is NO torsional damping. Rather the rubber sides are there to quiet the chain noise when the chain engages the sprocket. The side plates of the chain land on the edge of the rubber cushion before the chain settles into the sprocket teeth.

Thanks for posting! I have a 700gs. Why not just use that grinder to cut the chain all the way in two rather than using a special tool to remove the pins?

Hey Old Mac. Hope you are well. I got the parts in for the rear brake master cylinder. All from Japan. The junk from China was not good at all so I got the OEM parts. Came in what looked like 100 parts. Put it all together and it looks like it is working fine. They are not locking up any longer. Hopefully it stays that way. Tomorrow I will make an adjustment or 2. Again thank you for the videos you put out. They really help inspire us. Look forward to the next video my friend. Thank you. Randy

I think that the red colour is the oxidized metal that comes off the chain as very fine particles once the o-rings have gone and the chain is really wearing quickly.

Hey Old Mechanic. I enjoy your videos, especially the ones regarding BMW boxers and/or the MotoScan app. You use toilet tissue to wipe up fluids, oils, grease, and other sludge. How do you dispose of the oily, greasy tissue? We've been told that 1 drop of oil will contaminate a large volume of landfill. I re-use rags that I can leave at my oil recycling shop once they're too filthy. The shop then deals with used oil, filters, and containers, responsibly (I hope).

Mvg, Maarten

Beste Old Mechanic.
