Hi, I'm trying to install a same (drivers)seat into my BMW F21. I'm having trouble to find the wire for the light in the M seat emblem. You say it's purple, I've founde a purple one but it isn't the wright one. Can you please give me some advise to locate this wire more easely. And after finding the good wire, what is the best car wire to connect to so I can see the light of the seat when I unlock the car? Many thanks for your answers. Dany - Belgium.

Hi Dany, The seat light cable is simply in the loom/ plug & without taking the seat apart I can’t advise an easier solution to locate it. There’s not a lot of cables that go into the plug so should be easy to rule out unless the light is broken? As per my video I used the rear foot well lighting circuit on the e92 (on the positive feed is required as the negative is already provided from the seat

Good morning, I run the original E9x seat belt belt buckles as the plug on these works with the original E9x car wiring loom once you switch the plugs over. The canbus on the seat modules is sensitive to left/ right hand side so using right hand drive seats on a left hand drive car may have caused you some issues which unfortunately I wouldn’t have the answer to.. you “may” be able to simply swap the seat modules round to the other seats to rerun the memory functions but I couldn’t say for sure.

It’s a big job for the e46 sadly, the base frame/ floor mounts don’t bolt in so would require custom mounts which will likely sit to high and the Canbus doesn’t work with the E9x F8x seats so would need to be manual non heated versions. Easier to instal Recaro CS which I have in my e46 M3 👍 Anything is possible just depends how much your willing to spend

I guess the real question is if it does go wrong do you have the funds to resolve any damage especially compared to what a garage/specialist would charge for the job in the first place 😅 If you short circuited something with the wiring loom or incorrectly coded a module it could become very expensive to repair. The newer guides I now put out contain alot more detail but there is no follow on for this one I’m afraid, it was created to provide pointers for those familiar with the tools and to show it can be done after many said it couldn’t 👍

Odd comment 🤷‍♂️ the standard seats in the e92 M3 are mounted way to high, provide minimal support and look as exciting as what you would find in a 320i.. I run the Recaro CS seats in my e46 M3 which for me are the best after market option but you loose the memory/ heated functions where’s the M4 seats provide the factory functions. The callipers from the M4 would be a good upgrade as opposed to the stock single piston brakes on the e92 but the S55 is the last engine I would want in the e92.
