Thanks for the info!!! I just cut mine just a little shorter, If one LED goes faulty the whole strip won't work because the Knumbnuts wired LED's in series!! Powered the lights with a 9V Battery, Blue + and Brown - Get an LED and go across each LED in turn trying pins both ways till the strip lights up, once you find the Duff LED just replace it with a 3 or 5mm Bright Clear Red LED, The BMW LED is about 4mm. I installed a 3mm and used the original LED holder. Then I hot glued it all back together 🙂 Edit: after replacing with a 3mm LED, worked fine for a few hrs and one of the other LED's blew so prob best to just replace all 3! Ill be replacing all 3 with 5mm LED's as the 3mm are not quiet as bright as the orignal OEM.

The LEDs are fine, the problem is simply a "dry joint" on the circuit board which needed soldering. LEDs themselves are extremely reliable and rarely are at fault, it is usually the circuit board that feeds the LEDs this is synonymous with BMW tail lights. Incidentally to cut the plastic coating of the LED housing use your soldering iron with the "knife edge" attachment and "melt" through the plastic, this way you won't get any dust or debris into the assembly.

You know what would be really cool is if you could get some brighter Led lights in there instead of those ones. There not too bright. Do you know if hey sell upgraded led bulbs for those or do you have to buy the Lci lights

You can definitely add your own LEDs. I am working on an even cheaper fix and will be posting a video soon.
