You saved me!!! Retrofitted some OEM angel eyes headlights and blew a fuse! I looked everywhere and couldn’t find it. My scan tool told me there were all kinds of issues with the Vanos, the throttle control valve, and several others; 6 codes total. Spent the day going over every inch of my ‘99 e39 and could not find out why the car would not start. No smell of gas made me think it might be the fuel pump relay. Flipped over to your channel, and BAM! Pulled the hidden fuses under the cabin filter on the passenger side under the hood, and found a 30 amp blown! Replaced it, and VOOOM! Old Betsy fired right up. Thank you! 😎🇩🇪👍

You are my personal hero from now on. Thanks to your videos I've just finished replacing head gasket on my X5 3.0i (with LPG conversion - that's why no one wanted to touch it) that I bought last year as a dead on arrival project. After checking head bolts upon removal they've stripped the threads in the block after head skim and gasket replacement, so new set of bolts and gaskets out the window. Drilled and re-tapped block using longer 3D (3x diameter) hel-coils (time-serts are not readily available or well known here - we're far behind here in the UK). Then it was putting it all back together, coolant, oil, only to find out that the cow now refuses to start. Great minds and so on, first I checked schrader valve - pressure there, then bought pretty much same spark tester as yours and found out there is no spark. Took me two days to get here. And then I stumbled upon your video. Thank you. The beast is happily purring and me after timing it, drilling block, scratching head surface, loosing money and patience - I became a happy man. Will check it proper tomorrow, but due to the fact that I've rebuilt everything from grounds up I was planning to strip it to some extent to check all connections, then to re-do the timing. You saved me all that. Someone said you can time the engine 180 degrees out, which I think isn't possible, as you set it all when putting chains and timing components for sensors are all on the crankshafts, so I'd say it's not logically possible. Anyway, again, thank you very much, it was the 30A fuse in my case, one to the right from the middle. Swapped, started first time. Missus proud, I'm happy. IT engineer / graphic designer here, with engineering background, but this job was about 3500 miles away from my normal comfort zone. Thank you. If I'm over your end of the pond I'll pop down to buy you some beer. Keep up the good work pal.

Hey man i watch a lot of your vids! Just replaced all my power steering lines and hoses using one of your videos! I feel like a capable mechanic now lol I have a 03 325i and it sat over the winter. I started it the other day and it idles fine but when i rev it, it sounds like its missing, the revs are very rough. It has new spark plugs, coil packs, new disa valve and all intake boots and vacuum lines replaced. Wanted to see if you have any idea about the rough revs? I wished you revved this car in the vid but that's what comments are for! I replaced all my parts thanks to your videos so much appreciated keep them coming!!! Also i replaced my secondary air valve and ever since i did that it no longer loses and hot gasses pour back into the pump! I can't figure that out its a new valve and hose from the pump. It actually melted the old hose from pump to valve that's how i figured out it doesn't close. Would appreciate your expertise! sorry for the long comment lol

50's kid, I have a question, thank you so much for your videos. My 2001 330CI is having a knocking sound coming from the top. I've done most of my work from your videos, so my car has been very reliable. Recently, I replaced the Vanos, the coils, and now it's having trouble starting. I noticed the EF-2 fuse blown. I replace the fuse and noticed after I tried to start it, it blew again. I checked the fuel system there is definitely fuel pressure when I turn the key on the fuel is priming. Okay the big question is this I checked the EF fuses on both sides of the fuses but when I got to the EF2 fuse the left side of the fuse did not light up. I'm not really sure. Could it be the coil pack, or could it be just one individual coil it doesn't make sense though.

Hello, I have an issue with a 316i from 2002. After the engine gets to 90° celsius and if you pull off and stay with the engine started in neutral/no gear it will increase and decrease the rpm up to 1700 and 800 by itself until it will have no more voltage/power at all and die. While is doing like this, behind the car stereo or under the dashboard(that location) you can hear like a click or a short circuit sound...don't understand where is the issue, a few electricians checked but didn't find the cause let's say. Also, I used a lighter voltage meter and when the issue start happening(ONLY after it has 90° celsius) it won't display 13.8 volts anymore, it won't display anything. What I also did(in car repair shop), changed the alternator relay 2 times in 8 months as they said that a short circuit in the car caused that relay to die. Thank you very much!!

I recently had an issue where my upper radiator hose broke and coolant was sprayed all over my windshield. The issue is fixed bit now when I try to start my car it cranks then dies, it will turn over but not enough to stabilize idling and keep the engine running. I replaced the battery because it died from sitting during the holiday weekend I tried starting the car and no Bueno. I checked my spark plugs and ignition coils and they're all good. Edit: Also, could a leak from a broken upper radiator hose cause issues with the ICV? Any suggestions? Please, before I have to go the mechanic route and get juiced for my money.

So I have a 2004 325i that threw a p113 code so I got the new IAT sensor, took the plastic cover off to get to it and I see where it should be but there's only what looks like the broken stub of the old one even having the remains of the clips on the sides of the IAT but nothing else. The wires that would go to said sensor were nowhere to be found. I read that if the clip on the mass air sensor has 5 wires on it that the IAT is built into the MAS. Does this mean to address the code I have to buy a new MAS? I believe the engine is an M54 but I'm a dumbass so...

@50sKid What is your experience with these coils in general? I've found them to be a particular weak point. My mom and my sister both have E46s with N42/N46 engines. After replacing the 3rd single coil i said screw it and swapped all 4 in both cars. They seem to go bad regularly.

So here'e the problem im having and im confused! I've replaced soooo much... Camshaft, Crankshaft, Spark Plugs, Ignition Coils, Fuel Pump ( i Need to change the fuel pump Filter and maybe the fuel regulator) ... None of things i did change help the car Start.. It would Crank but no start. Change fuses and relays as well and to no avail. Tried this method ....... tried it ... tried it tried it then boom the car Started.... Ran for about 30 minutes then Cut off... Didnt't cut on again until i did the process over. It seems as if it would build compression then lose it again. Doesn't have enough power to Drive, Reverse or nothing even when on and running. Checc Diag tool and it's throwing me codes for things I changed already. SUPER CONFUSED... What's my next move? e46 Bmw 2004 325ci

Hey normally mine fires up at 1000 rpms, then goes down to about 600 rpms, but if I let it sit an hour or two and crank it, it'll fire at 300 rpms and work it's way to 600 like normal, any clue what that is? Never has it not started though
