    Wow, such a clean car. I can’t imagine how nice it would be to work on a car with no rust.

    You don’t have to, as soon as you loose the bottom bolts from the engine mount you can lift the engine

    Hello. I did the same job, with same Febi mounts. Previously i had small vibration at idle and clunk noise/hard shifting when driving normal/sporty. With new mounts shifting issues solved, but tbere are tons of vibrations when idling at 600rpm. At around 850rpm vibration is almost gone. With factory but worn mounts I did not have that much vibration at idle. I'm a bit nervous about this, I think it is because of the febi mount is poor quality. What is your experience with new febi mounts concerning idle vibration at 600rpm?

    Interesting. Is your car manual or automatic? I should check my car, have not touched it in a while, but i don't recall anything noticeable / special as far as vibrations go. Febi is on the cheap side, but usually isn't terrible quality.

    I have the same problem. Did you found the cause of vibrations? Was it because of the bad Febi engine mounts, or something else? I have ordered Lemforder, I really hope it will fix the problem

    @@horadam86 I think there is a bit more vibration coming through at 650 rpm idle. It disappears at higher rpms, like 700-750 and up. So probably febi is not the same as oem or corteco. Maybe I should try changing them.

    do these engine mounts have oil in them? i have e90 320i and i see oil leaking from passenger side engine mount and i am not sure where its coming from, i recently changed my engine oil

    I personally never saw any fluid coming out of these mounts, but there are pictures on forums where people had cut them open and there was some kind of fluid inside. Passenger side (oil pan to engine block seam) is actually where engine oil starts to show up / accumulate on these engines if various gaskets and seals give / leak.

    @@maxsam201 I think i have figured where the oil is leaking from but i am not quite sure though. needs your advise. i have this hose coming out from oil pan, which was disconnected and closed by pliers by previous owner of the car. wish i could share images here for you to better understand, would you happen to know what is this hose for? and should it be like that? or connected to something. please help.

    i have now figured out its the ccv return hose from oil separator which is connected to oil dipstick, my previous car owned removed the return hose and closed the dipstick, and i don't even have catch can installed. now my question is it safe to drive like that? without no ccv return hose, no catch can and dipstick closed.

    Hi. Sorry it took me a while to respond. I wonder if you have the first generation N52? - with aluminum valve cover? but even those had only what is called an "oil return pipe", no dip stick. So no more oil leak, it's got fixed?

    Can it cause car shaking on highway?

  • @maxsam201

    @maxsam201

    2 күн бұрын

    I would think that any shakes at higher speeds in general are caused by rotational masses - like tires and wheels, in first place. Engine mounts should mainly feel as excessive vibrations, not really related to car's speed. So in your case it seems like something else is making the car shake.

    @user-sm8hx1zk2v I see. So the wheels and tires are good, not bent and are balanced? I had bad balancing of tires in the past. The next thing is to check if all mounting surfaces are clean - hub's, wheels and brake discs surfaces. Wheel bolts are torqued properly and evenly? After that wheel hub bearings should be checked. After THAT - I would check differential bushings. I'm also assuming that all the control arms are in ok shape? Rear upper rearward control arm has a ball joint on the inner end, that often wears out and starts to exhibit an excessive play. Let me know what you find out!
