hey! i replaced my water pump, i was leaking coolant. on the drivers side, i get a coolant smell still & a heat feeling, almost like a header blowing, is this normal? thanks!

2011 with 137k, no leaks and original water pump and TStat.. radiator and expansion tank replaced under warranty at95k Just purchased the FCP euro water pump replacement kit and I’m thinking of replacing some major hoses with in the next month.

@@Shamus71 just replace the pump, youre pushing your luck. They usually go after 100k. dealer recomands replacement at 75k. why risk it.

I have 320i e90 and the amount of time I spent around the engine bay made me hate this car. I love how it drives even for the underpowered 320i but god almighty every weekend there is something new that needs to be replaced.

Hello I got my water pump and thermostat replaced like a year ago and I was just wondering if I could put in NSF pentofrost antifreeze? The problem is I think the mechanic put in bmw coolant and the antifreeze reservoir is a little low and I wanted to add some antifreeze so can I mix pentofrost and bmw brand coolant? I know I will have to mix distilled water too. Thanks .

I relaxed my coolant housing 4 days ago, it’s not oem, aftermarket from autozone and I keep getting the coolant light, the coolant housing is full and I made sure to bleed the system and I did it 3 times to make sure it was done right, I also used auto one blue coolant. I drove to Mexico from Los Angeles ca (2,410.8 mi) and no over heat but coolant light keeps popping up... any help?

I replaced my upper radiator hose because the hose blew out from the oil separater housing clamp. Went over a mountain pass and I think the pressure from the elevation did it. Was able to duck tape it to get back home (barely!) When I replaced it, I accidentally broke the little nipple off the return line, so I ended up replacing that as well. When I went to the BMW dealership, I asked them if there were any other common coolant hose leaks that I should be worried about because since I fixed this weak part of the system, now another weak part of the system can fail. They said the "Mickey mouse" hose around the back side of the engine is a common hose to fail (they know this because they keep it stocked). Does anyone know where this hose is located and where it routes too? I looked at a diagram and saw a hose that looked like it had Mickey mouse ears at the adapter but couldn't definitively locate where it was at. Thanks!

Oe tank cracked in a snowstorm in November so i replaced it with a doorman. Just piped again today same issue. Just ordered a new oe expansion tank. Hoping its not the classic mcdonalds straw that is also cracked.

Can you buy the coolant hose clips anywhere?? Lost one of the 1 1/4” ones. 32mm?? Not sure but it’s the heater core to lower expansion tank hose/clip…..

Especially during winter months. 👍

Andrew A Belakov Have to get it in the air and track it down or reorder a new tank. Unless it's defective. Also check your lower cooling hoses.

I went to open my coolant tank when the car was already hot because i was driving it and as soon as i tried to open the cap i saw some white smoke and a little bit spashed then i closed the cap real quick, what should i do please help!!!

Will small leak cause oberheat?

I have a leak coming right above the exhaust/downpipes but I can't see exactly where it's coming from. Anyone else have this issue but figure what it was?

@@canuckeh119 it needs to be OEM coolant 50\50 mixed with distilled water otherwise you risk damage and corrosion or impurities

Hey man, I got amber temperature light 2 months ago, then it disappeared, yesterday it came back and then it went red and went limp mood when I pulled over it looked like the coolent tank had boiled and overspliiled ? But now the car seems fine ? Any suggestions

Hi there. I always have a low coolant message. I top up my levels but when I run the car the coolant starts to pour out of the overflow pipe until the level is low and I get the low coolant message again. Can you please help

OK same things for me NOW CAREFULLY FILL AND LET ME TELL YOU do not fill to the top cause now I have a problem on the house connector pice of crap are plastic and leaks So go way less , if goes too low you will have a message , if too much well you are screwed I learned the hard way I hope I can help to save money and ducking nitemare to change the houses

They try to charge me 5grand for this coolant leak LOL. Car has been sitting ever since. Bought a Tacoma problem fixed. But now I have a sitting car that I need to sell any advice on how to fix this?

its just a hose man the hardest part is gonna be getting too it. most of the coolant leaks ive seen are up top but mine is somewhere on the bottom, drove fine all the way home and when i went back out to leave all my coolant was in the driveway

I have a 2017 x drive 330i - should I expect hose failure already? Soon?

Depends, I have an ‘11 335i and I’ve only had to replace the expansion tank last year at 75K. Just replaced my wife’s ‘12 X3 radiator, hoses, and expansion tank last week. Her car is at 96K. Both are N55 engines. Just expect your expansion tank and hoses to go bad for sure.

My coolant goes low periodically - I took to bmw and they pressure tested it and didn’t see any leak - I don’t know what to do next I replaced water pump at 20k miles and have now 40k miles

@@alexispineda1645 yes! A local shop that specializes in German cars found a crack in the radiator! Isn’t that crazy! The bmw dealer didn’t find it !

Hi, I have a bmw coupe 318, I have to continuously plug water/coolant in every day and coolant light stays on. After a very short while, steam does rise up from the bonnet, could this be a head gasket issue?

@@TheKyoshofantom9 mine was a radiator and a pipe issue but if you don’t get it sorted, it could lead to the gasket blowing… beat get it checked if you can

Old upper radiator hoses will rub on alternator pulley and bust

I thought if thermostat stuck open means it cools more... in BMW it's almost never the thermostat in overheating js

Still water will cause deposits. Mix it with distilled water only.

My e90 ya da small mini tiny leak going down the radiator plastic housing. Iv been driving like this for 3 month with no problems or warnings. My coolant is blue colour and it’s always full. No sign of major leaning. Should I be considered? Although my system shows my my coolant is full and working fine 👌🏽

I found mine cracked right under the big upper hose neck on the plastic part of the radiator. I just lightly sanded and JB welded it.

Mines has a leak too atm. I have remove bottom cover to try n trace it

There’s a coolant flange on the bottom coolant hose running to your oil housing / cooler. My flange was melted, the factory is plastic. I ordered a aluminum one from FCP Euro, fixed my leak. Originally I was replacing the two gaskets on the housing but I found that flange melted while doing so. No more coolant leak so far :)

I have a question. I just changed my coolant expansion tank and did a flush and 100 miles later I’m getting a low coolant light and my coolant is full and I don’t have any leaks.

Same problem changes e tank bled it light comes on and goes away then it will do it again but coolant is good no leaks any solutions?

My 335 has a oil leak coming from drain bolt it started after I took it for a oil change

If thermostat stack open it will never overheat the engine.

Yes it can. Water flows to fast and radiator can't dissipate heat properly.

Ive heard bmw users using peak antifreeze is it any good?

Bought 2014 528i in May. In July started making a really loud fan noise. Took to bmw and they said it was normal. Ok, I took it to another bmw and same thing. The beginning of September, got a light it said refill coolant. I did what it said. Next day again. So I took to bmw, they said it was the thermostat. Ok replaced, paid my deductible. Next day picked up and again the light, refill coolant. Took back, they said it had air. Picked up and again light with refill coolant. Called bmw , told me to take back. On way car got hot and said to turn off car. Pulled over.. called them and they sent a wrecker. Couple of days passes and they called said it was the coolant reservoir top. They replaced. They drove it 90 miles and no lights. Called me to pick up. 2 days later, again. Now they said it the radiator hose and that I need to pay my deductible again.

I have the same car, haven’t had any issues so far. In my opinion, try finding a good BMW mechanic. The dealership will keep you back and forth. They “fix” one issue but cause another on purpose. Good luck to you 👍🏼

Just got mine replace 3 weeks ago. Have anybody had to replace there passengers door handle because it melted? If so what do you do? I got it replace one and brought tinted windows and having issues again.

You can order a new for $50-60 on eBay. Easiest thing to do is buy the door handle wraps from eBay. $35 and you won't have to worry again.

I took my car to the dealership to get the dme put back in my car but they tell me that I need a thermostat. I told them no I don't. My car went into limp mode so I checked to see if I had any coolant in my car even though it had coolant when I took it to the shop. They were trying to get me to pay for a $247 thermostat that I didn't need since I told them that they didn't need to reprogram my dme which would've cost me $648. So they decided to make something up. I don't even go to the dealer shop anymore. They are a rip off. I have the software to update my car myself so I don't need to go back to the dealership.

There is a Pentosin coolant that is compatible with BMW, Pentofrost NF it is even blue so it might work as well as the BMW.

Pentosin fluids are very good, I´m using Pentosin as power steering fluid and even used their oils, good experiences with it. I learned about Pentosin because I went inside a BMW dealer shop and noticed they were filling a car with Pentosin oil.

@@GokuGaming good info, I looked for it and they have the OET blue coolant it is good to know but for a German car I would rather use a German product. THANKS FOR THE TIP.

I just replaced today, bottom radiator hose, top radiator hose that connects into the recovery tank, and replaced the recovery tank as well. Yet ik still getting smoke coming up, I looked down at the bottom of the radiator to the right, and there was like a metal screw and an O ring around it, smoking was coming out of it. Is it the radiator or??? Please help... I'm starting a project on it after my ol Pearl finally had her rest... (2001 Honda Accord EX V6 Sedan).. that was my baby.. spent 11k in her.. man. I miss my car so much...😢 but now I got this bmw and I just want it to run good for a while... please help me.. also my heat Don't work like it's supposed took. Goes in and out. Other than that no problems. BTW she's stick shift 5 speed. HELLO TO ALL THE MANUAL DRIVERS IM NEW. ❤😂

Why exactly would you use distilled water? BMW dealers here use tap water.

tap water has many impurities. Distilled is pure H20. No minerals to react within the cooling system.

Of course my 2012 X5 would have a leak . . . almost everything else has failed on this tub since I purchased it. Three water pumps, front main seal oil leak, brakes, timing issues ($2,000 for that last week), two batteries and now a major coolant leak (poured in a gallon of antifreeze and was watching the river run out from under it before I got the cap back on, Who ever came up with the slogan - BMW, the ultimate driving machine, obviously just got their learners permit. My first and last BMW experience was this pile of shit X5. I've have learned my lesson - BMW (Broken More than Working)

Seems like it would be best to just have a whole new cooling system upgrade put in after buying a BMW.

About to trade my X5 for a Honda. Worse purchase ever.

Crusader you know that how? because the n52 was a solid engine. The 5 series itself (e60) had less issues then the 07 model year camry and i had both.

Scott Redmond it doesn't corrode aluminum like most do. Guess what's made of aluminum? The inner passages of the engine block.

Marcos Fierros all coolant has corrosion inhibitors in it. It's an OAT coolant, like many other brands.

Changed my expansion tank 2 months ago. Bled the system too. 2 days ago after really cold weather in California (35 degrees) lol . . My coolant sensor light came on, i have ran the car, monitored the levels and everything is fine. No leaks.. No coolant loss. Can it be a bad sensor?

@@dsales2011 the coolant light would come on and off once every couple of weeks. & I had no signs of coolant leaks or ever got low. So I imagined it was just the sensor and left it that way. Never had a coolant loss problem with it.
