BMW C400X SE First Ride Review!

It's been a while since I've ridden a scooter on the channel! Find out if I enjoy this more than the Vespa 300 GTS I rode last year.
Now I have to admit that I had a disaster while filming this review! First of all I accidentally set my GoPro helmet cam in Time Lapse mode before setting off, so all the footage from that camera is pretty much useless which I didn't know until the day after (as you'll see from a hilariously bad section where I am showing you part of the bike).
It's lucky that I had a second camera on the go then, wasn't it? Well, the 360 camera on my handlebar kept stopping and I lost well over an hour of footage there too. At the time I wasn't too bothered because I thought I could always fall back on video from the GoPro.... So this video is shorter and less detailed than my usual test rides but it took a lot of salvaging to make it usable! If it wasn't for the fact that the dealership is 100 miles away I'd pop back over and make another video 😊
I didn't get any good footage of slow speed/commuting type stuff but I did a fair bit of it... the bike is well balanced and the throttle response is good... there's a little bit of vibration from the engine when riding slowly (under 15MPH) but generally it gave a good ride.
I don't think there isn't much point adding timestamps to it but normal service will be resumed shortly 😂

Seeing the mini behind you gives a really good indication or acceleration when you pinned the throttle. 😎
I've had one for 2 1/2 years and it's a decent scooter, with great brakes, and suspension, and mine has a high screen so no wind buffeting.
Thanks for the review. Wow what a surprise seeing Welwyn GC and Welwyn areas. I live in Australia now but grew up in WGC. I have the X Max 300.

Thanks Stevie! There is a new review of the BMW CE 04 and another one coming up of the R1250RT that are both in the same part of the world 😊 I hope to try some Yamaha scooters like your X Max in the not-too-distant future.

Great video as always. Just had one as a loan. I found the front brake unnerving at the best, very grabby. Very bad wind buffeting on my helmet - but that is down to personal height/helmet etc. Great staff at LIND both at Norwich and WGC. Be safe.

That's interesting about the front brake - I didn't have any trouble with mine, in fact I noted that it felt a little less powerful than the rear (just like the Vespa I rode last year and I'm starting to thing that this is a "scooter thing"). Hopefully the problem on your loaner was a one off. The wind buffeting was a bit of a pain for me too though, which was a shame as its a really capable machine otherwise. Take care! 👍

@@RikkyTang Perhaps it was just the loan bike that had the brake issue/feeling. The front was significantly better than the rear. Like you said on your video, you could easily do long distance on them but its a shame that you cannot adjust screen Have you any plans to take the next spec up out for a ride? Is it the GT or XT, something like that ? Keep well.

@@tailtidy8185 I forgot to add that I think Lind are refreshing their demo models in September, so hopefully there will be a different flavor of C400 to ride then 😊
Interesting little winter run around ,be interesting to see what the big ones are like we have a girl in our club that come out with us on a sizable I think it's a Yamaha one and it keeps up fine not really my thing but it's a bike ! cheers : )
