You can indicate but you still need to make sure it is clear before you move over. Mirror, signal, manoeuvre, not signal mirror manoeuvre however the man saw me and acted accordingly like a good driver. Point is, you have to be ready for anything.

Not criticizing Kate since she handled it properly, but it seems to me that the people making comments on this are likely to die in traffic. When filtering, you don’t drive around someone who has their indicator on. It doesn’t matter who has the right away. You’re the one who’s going to die.

You hold your head high over the whole bike-jacker thing…. Don’t waste any time on the haters, 99.9% appreciate the efforts you go to and the actions you took would be supported by again a vast majority of us. Stay safe out there and catch ya on the road. 👍👍👍

If I went back to commuting on two wheels it would be on a maxi scooter. More practical than a motorcycle and fast enough.

Riding it feels like no effort and is weirdly fun!!! Would recommend all day! Although, I definitely get taken on less by other riders, barely any nods back 🤣 it's fine though, they probably just secretly want a maxi scooter 🤭

Thanks for this vid Kate. It’s great to see how the scoot copes with a real world uk commute. I have just changed jobs and now have a completely different commute and one of these looks like the tool for the job. Still keeping my F750GS though!

I had a loan of the newer version while my GS was being serviced. Brilliant fun in town, heated seat and grips was useful as it was winter. As a town only bike ✔

Hi kate, you mentioned about being chased on your bike, I seen the video and think you were wise to be cautious! It shows how switched on and observant when you are when riding. Theres probably loads of riders wish they were half as observant.! They who were negative are idiots, in this day and age! Love your videos!!

I'd say your reaction to the white van was exactly the right one i.e. stay calm and move on. I've watched a few of those road-rage type compilation vids and they're filled with folk that need to take a chill pill and, in many cases, assess their own driving/riding skills! As for the trolls, although it's easy to say, ignore the haters and keep on doing what you're doing :)

Tried 4 times today to contact manchester by phone , no return call and no one to talk to about motorcycles 😂 when i did speak to someone !!!! Great thanks

I love the idea of a scooter if I had to commute into work everyday. Your advice to people on filtering was really good, you should never ride out of your comfort zone. Looking forward to the GS tyre test, as I will be needing some tyres soon

You're good at lane splitting. I do it here in Los Angeles and I do get a weird sense of calmness when I do it...but I don't know why? One time I smacked a guys side view mirror in Santa Monica when I was on Pacific Coast Highway. I pulled over at the gas station just ahead and waited for him in plain sight but he never stopped! Love your British Accent too ;)...it's cool.

That Jeep that you passed is fairly common here in the US. The cons are they are heavy, poor gas mileage, not as much interior room as you might think. But, that said, the young people love em. Many owners customize them with all kinds of add-ons. They are built by Chrysler with the Jeep badge, but they have little in common with the original Jeep brand. Love watching and listening to you ride, sorry to hear about Mike's finger. I guess it's an expensive lesson to keep your fingers out from around the bottom of the mower. Love the scooter btw, I ride a Honda Shadow 750 and would love to downsize into a Suzuki Burgman 400 if I had the chance. Great video, ride safe young lass!

I am thankful you took a compromise on your personal protection gear but compared to all the younger riders I see, shorts and t-shirt, even flip flops. GT does look great! Haven't managed to ride it yet as my colleague Nasher keeps hogging it 🤣 I suppose that in itself says a lot about it though!

I had my middle finger tip crushed between two rocks (clearing stream bed for concrete form). Clip'd 'n sewed ... will hurt like Hades for two weeks after the shot wears off (didn't take any other medications). Hope Mike's doing good. If writing hand, takes some getting used to holding pencils 'n pens. Nice scoot to work Kate!

Kate - did you know Way back in the old days the biggest and best BMW bike dealer in the NW was "Doug Hacking" located on Blackburn Rd, Bolton. Superb shop in every way, they unfortunately lost their concession as BMW changed the way it sold bikes in the late 1990s. They relocated to a bigger more modern premise but still lost the concession. That is now known as Bolton Motorcycles, still run by the same family.

Nice calm ride to work there.

Nice bike Kate. I don't know how long you have been riding, but if you want a bit of advice from an old hand (10 years then a 10 year break followed by another 23 years) slow it down when filtering. If anything happens such as a car changing lanes without indicating or a door suddenly opening on a stationary car you have more time to react. A good rule of thumb is no more than 5mph faster than the other traffic.

@@UsernameKate I love bikes been riding since I was 14 yrs off road of course then from age 16yrs to current age 57yrs old on road currently have a 2018 gsa 1200 biking keeps you fit and alert just have to "think" for other road users some of them need to retake their test still biking is great keep it up young lady - ride safe take care & God bless Xx

yeah there is a guy called Fireman Sam or something, he is an Instructor, and featured you, and criticised you (when you where fleeing danger) for not doing your shoulder checks etc etc. I laughed, as he is a bit of a tosser anyway. Love it, the Scoot rides are back! Anything on two wheels will do me. And when its boiling hot, you want an easy ride.

@@UsernameKate ah well I’ve just sold 3 bikes a street triple 675 RX , Royal Enfield Continental 650 GT, Enfield Bullet 500 Trials I’m in the process of getting the final edition Suzuki GSX S750 going to have trade in my amazing husqvarna 401 svartpillion for it.10 days ago I bought the new Royal Enfield meteor stellar 350 plus I have had a Royal Enfield Continental 535 GT for 5 years that’s the longest I’ve ever owned a bike so that’s not really answering your question so I suppose at this moment in time it has to be the 535GT it always gets lots of attention at bike nights or cafes 😊

Me too- though kicking left at Glasgow for Arran and the mull of kintyre- on my trusty Vespa 300! Weather forecast is good too! Kate- you have lots of opportunities if you DONT get dragged under a HGV to save a few seconds, but precious few if you do, so good judgment there!

I have some vented summer gloves and they were awesome.... Until I swapped bikes and got a GS with handguards 🤣🤣🤣 I feel like if anything stupid is going to happen it usually happens to me 😳😳🤣 Poor Mike, why did he have his hand under it? That's usually where the grass supposed to be 🤣 My friends brother (yea yea that old one 🤣) was mowing his lawn and was trying to do it really fast and hit the washing line pole and the mower did an endo and he put his foot in it. This is why you don't wear flipflops while mowing or riding a motorbike 😳😳😳 he lost 3 toes 🤮🤮🤮 Relaxing in your garden is really dangerous 😜👍👍

does the Sccoter have a „Parking Brake „, like Suzuki 400 or other 400 cc scooters ?

When the van moved across your path, you could have:- Blasted the horn, shouted abuse, ranted at the driver, or even, as seems popular on KZread, punched the mirror!! INSTANT KZread GOLD!! .......and for what? The driver, probably didn't expect you to be there, and therefore, probably didn't look properly. We all know this happens all the time, getting angry doesn't fix anything, it usually makes the rider look bad.........or stupid!! Nicely handled Kate, same as the way you handled, what you perceived to be, an attempted theft. Keep doing you! As you say 🙂👍

Yes occasionally but not often! Depends, if there is a crash, it can take over an hour in the car. To be honest, I usually ride into work rain or shine 😊

do you know the most common accidents had by Harley Davidson riders? It’s rear ending the car in front of them cause they’re checking out their reflection in the shop window lol

I guess if you’re going to chop off a finger, the middle one is not the best choice. Definitely reduces you’re means of communication😉.
