BMW Alpinas - Petrolicious
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
We had the privilege to not only shoot one e24 Alpina but two of these incredibly rare machines. How rare you ask? The e24 Alpina B10 3.5 is the only one of its kind that exists in the Western Hemisphere and is one of 14 that are known to be left in the world. It is a rare sight to see one of these cruising down the street, but seeing one together with another e24 Alpina is a whole different ballgame.

One of the things I love about these videos is it's just the owner. No "experts", no dramatic voice overs or cynical journalists. Just the owner

Funny how he says that a lot of people don't know what an Alpina is. Drive one of those in western Europe and any car enthousiast will start drooling!

Éliphas Lévi I doubt you will ever find an E24 M6 in Europe :) it's highly unlikely, as in Europe it was the M635 CSi

+Éliphas Lévi If you live in Munich it`s no wonder you never see a E24 M6,they were never sold in Europe. Here they are called M635 csi. The US spec E24 M6 was altso down 30 bhp (256 bhp) on the M635csi`s 286 bhp

Éliphas Lévi They have two different engines, the US M6 had whats called the S38 engine with a catalyzer, the euro spec M635 had the M88 engine without. The euro spec M635 is altso almost a second quicker to 62 mph. And then theres the 5 mph bumpers and other slight differences....
333hp in 1983 in an Era where a "sportscar" had only 150-200hp. As I recall my dad's 1984 corvette had 205hp.

Those Corvette C4s were junk. They had 5.7L V8s but were restricted so much as a result of emissions standards in the US. They also had this "crossfire injection" system which was trash. You could easily make 330 horse out of the same platform.

The Alpina B7 S were the fastest cars in 1979 1980, topspeed was 270 km/h when the M1 did 262 km/h and the Porsche 933 turbo did 259 km/h and the acceleration was also similar to 933 turbo the Porsche did about 5,8 sec to 62 miles , the Alpina did 5,7 sec to 62 miles.
@bennyhannover9361

you have to see that these 300 SAE hp were measured after the old methods with water cooling from external and with a Kick-starter, so that on a measuring instrument there might be 245hp left. Anyway to get close to such an Alpina you would need at least the 390hp versions from 1969 or a Big Block Corvette. Because the 330hp net match to about 410 hp measured in the way described above.

I always love when I see older Alpinas since not a lot of people see them as anything other than a BMW, but they're so elegant and beautifully designed and modified
The owner of BMW shop where I worked in the late 90s had a B6 2.8, based on the E-30. It was an absolutely fantastic car to drive. I’ve been a BMW tech for 22 years now and it is still my hands down favorite, and I’ve driven virtually every M car ever built. I had a 1979 Euro spec 635csi with the sport gearbox, while it was no Alpina, it was still an awesome car in it’s own right. I miss the connected feeling of the older BMWs.
This is one fortunate man to have so many old BMWs.

You should check out ALPINA's answer to the M3 e30! They built the B6 3.5, that car was/is much better and faster than the M3!And they also had the B6 s,which was the only ever M car that ALPINA used as a base car. Same 3.5 l straight 6 in it, I believe there where only 62 ever made!

Thing is it's not really a BMW. It's an Alpina. I have a Euro E24 with Alpina rims, which are great. I've never cared for the striped livery, I just think it's ugly.
I owned a B10 535 Alpina while stationed in Germany in the 1990s. That was a fun car to own over there. It was forest green and was such a beast to drive. I use to cruise down the autobahn and B roads as fast as that car would go for hours. I bought it for 5K sold it for 8K to an officer. I still kick myself for not keeping it somehow.

I'm totally feeling this comment my friend. Several years ago, I sold my 1995 750Il. First generation E38 V12 due to an engine issue that would be totally solvable with today's resources. I truly miss that car.
I'm an e46 guy...i really like the concept of the alpina it's this lucrative and rare species almost like how saleen makes those few mustang. When you see one it turns your head.
The 1980s BMW 6- series has always been a favorite of mine but, to see these Alpinas in absolutely cherry condition is just so very cool!
Picking up my brand new Alpina B3 tomorrow. The vintage ones are definitely more precious. Respect for this guys collection!

An E46 B3s is defintely on my wish list..
fantastic cars, i love ALPINA cars so much, greetings from Germany
In the 80's as a kid in Puerto Rico i always admired my neighbor Alpina. Loved the sound!
Wow the engine bay is hella clean!
My dad had a friend with a wrecked Alpina e21. I remember as a kid playing in the car, pretending to be racing or robbing a bank. I drive an e46 m3 now and have always owned a BMW. Life goal is ALPINA.
I keep on watching and watching this vid. Love the introduction, love his way of talking. Not bragging, just being himself. Really love it. Greets from Belgium.
A timeless design that always brings a smile to my face. Thank you for sharing.
I fell in love with the E30 in the 80's during the Group A Touring Car era... wonderful looking motor vehicles.
Whew!!! Blown away by this video!!! I'm fortunate just to have my "100mph collision bumpers" US spec. 1984 e24 . I firmly believe that US automakers were so jealous of the Euro E24, they pushed to get those things put on it... Mine is one of the last 633csi built---- BMW imported just under 2000 of the 633csi in '84... The 5 speed '84 633csi is fairly rare today, I found that out after almost selling her for cheap... It's definitely not anywhere near the Alpina but.... I am smiling every time I get behind the wheel. "Miss Orwell"--- I love you!!!
100% amazing, no words for this! Enjoy and keep running
This is but one example of why I've loved cars my whole life. Great video, 2 of the most beautiful BMWs you will never see.

Wow......alpina is the perfect car ever, the size, machine, the body compact and all in there is perfect, I have no words, Amazing bro...
1973 2002 was the first car I drove long distance from Ft Smith Arkansas to Vegas. It was 1977 and i was 14. I still remember how wonderful that car was. I now drive a 991.2 Turbo Porsche on the German autobahn in southern Germany. Though I am a huge Porsche fan I still love that 2002 and also the 3.0. Great video and thank you for the drive down memory lane! Be safe.
So few of those left and yet he drives them, huge respect from a young German E21-owner!
Had an Alpina in 91. Great road car for fast trips around N.C.
Absolutely gorgeous. Alpinas were my boyhood fantasy. I still have the very latest Alpina B7 as my desktop wallpaer!
Proud owner of an E24 ;)
I've loved Alpina's since I discovered them age 10 in 1981, when I was taken to the annual BMW car club by my dad at BMW GB in Bracknell in the UK. I just love Alpina's philosophy of make it faster, make it nicer, but make it also so usable and not track focused like M cars. M cars, the only ones I truly desire are the M635csi and the E34 M5 in 3.8 guise. Alpina's, I just love them all and would love to have an E24 Alpina, but it's probably never going to happen, but, a B3s E46, is a possibility and one I want so badly.
What a wonderful bunch of videos PetroliciousCo. Sometimes brings a tear of joy to the eyes to see these old cars so well taken care of. Love it....keep em coming
These take me back, spent time as an technician in a BMW dealer in 87/88 when these cars were new.... they were special cars back then, still are. That B7s tho 😯😯
To keep my spirits up during the months of Lock down in 2020, I entered a few draws for cars. I wasn't expecting much, but if cost next to nothing, and gave me something to look forward to. The one that got me most excited was a draw for a 1973 BMW 2002 Turbo. Just thinking about driving that old school, classic style car had me anticipating the day of the draw. I day dreamed about road tripping in it, and remembered what it was like to drive the cars and trucks from the late 60s and 70s like I did when I was younger. From simple chicken trucks to sports cars, they were a totally different experience to what we have today. I totally understand the love of that era, and the BMWs from back then are iconic and unmistakable for anything else.
Thank you for the video. What a bunch of pure and beautiful cars!
The smile on this guy's face says it all, these cars make you happy.
Hey, outstanding video!!! I'm already very much into the hobby of these vintage BMW's, but after seeing this vid I'm even more into it! Holy smokes what a nice collection you have!!!!!
best looking bmw on the roads :) amazing condition!
That's a BMW! Not like the crap you see today....this video shows the 'real' stuff.....back in the 70's, I still remember as a kid this is the shape you spotted from afar as that of a BMW....and the engine sound too!

I absolutely love your videos, even more when I saw this video of my favorite cars. :)
Use to own an 1985 Alpina C2 2.5, was a great feeling driving it when everything was in sync. Would love to ownan E30 B6S, which, in my eyes in the perfect Alpina.
Just love these earlier Alpinas
Man!!! The highest congrats possible for those bmw's
I really liked this video. Well done ! These 6 E24 series ALPINAs are one of the rarest and most desirable ALPINAs. 👌 I feel very humble with my 'modern' B3 3.0 E36 cabrio ☺
What a collection!!
I was never a BMW fan........until I drove an ALPINA.
...and I was in living the thought that I am a serious E24 enthusiast(!) The B7 I was not even aware of existing... Amazing cars. THANKS FOR THE EDUCATION! Greetings from the Netherlands.👌🏻
I love Alpina, thanks!
Beautiful cars. Love these classics.
Rolling works of art! Love old bmw's dream is to have an old e34 alpina b10 bi-turbo with the narrow kidney's (before 93), in Alpinablau.
Beautiful and Classic Car.. Can win my heart always. A true driving machine.
We own a 1970s 3.3L in Australia. Very rare.
Who says '80s are not cool? In my opinion the 6-series of the '80s is the best looking BMW, hands down. As well as the 7-series from the same area. But the coupe has an edge in the looks department. Today's BMW styling is an insult.

I agree that the 6 is a great looking car but the e28 5-series has much better proportions in my eyes, and is the best looking, to me, from that era. I just can't get over how awkward the e24 looks from the B-pilar back, with its huge quarter windows and downturned trunk, it really ruins the overall look. Shame, considering how amazing the long hood and aggressive shark nose front end looks. Don't even get me started on the 7-series, the designers got that one all wrong.
Just WoW. So beautiful.
That B7S is so beautiful in that green!!

Nothing beats a vintage Bimmer. I own an 88' 535is myself. And love every mile in it.
I love the 6 series from that era and obviously the Alpina's are the next level above in terms of engineering. Awesome looking cars.
I love all the old petrol Alpinas. Not very fond of the new generations but these old ones are fantastic. The B10 Biturbo I always wanted to own.
two very beautiful cars.
Had the opportunity, long long ago, to drive a 1981 Alpina B6. Thrilling.. great car! I bet it could still kick some butt.
I still remember a German relative of mine having a 3.0 CSL. What a car! That B10 is something else though. Fantastic.

I didn't know alpina dated that far back! two beautiful classics!
That engine sound. I always appreciate bmw engines so amazing. I also had the same experience with bmw, my uncle bought a m3 e46 drove me to school and went places it was amazing. They inline 6 was so good 😊
C'mon, man it's ok to show off. You worked for it so be proud.
I can honestly confirm, the B7S is a monster. One of my closest friends and businesspartner used to have one (we are both BMW guys) and I have driven it many times. The power-delivery falls in the "hits you in the back with a sledgehammer" cathegory and the overall performance is outright ridiculous, considering it is an early 80's car.
Wow,simply wow, these are great cars
