I once drove to 240km/h with my 435i, and the car is shaking like riding a horse, but not even a little feeling the car is going to fall apart. BMW is really doing amazing jobs

I think your reviews are amazing and contain incredible detail that you do not get on KZread / TV or anywhere. Not a fan of the swinging camera angles however, smooth slides in older videos are preferred. Keep up the amazing work Thomas and Autogefuhl!

You're correct about the camera 'control'. I've been driving my X5 since october last year now and there are indeed times I'd like to select certain camera views when I want to use/see them, but that doesn't work (or at least not like I want it to). Maybe I'm missing something, but you seem the have the same problem as I do. But again, another great review, Thomas!

Mercedes fans can cry, 7 Series is the best german car. The interior of the S-Class is corny, tacky, i really prefer the staid interior from BMW.

Great review Thomas ! Beautiful and elegant interior combined with cutting edge technology and sporty handling makes this vehicle highly desirable. Appreciate your comment about the sound quality of the turn signals. Didn't sound as premium as I would expect...but that is a minor detail. I think the exterior of the car would benefit from a more sporty appearance. Nothing drastic, but a few sporty design features would make it a bit more appealing . This was an exceptional review and an hour well spent . Hope to see a review of the new Porsche Carrera soon. I am eager to hear your impression of the new biturbo engine in the base and S models and how it compares to the previous naturally aspirated engines. Best wishes from the U.S. !

it has a rear wheel steering that's why it turns in small turning radius

This is is a very good handling car,bmw 740li,2 cars in 1,first is a comfortable business sedan and second is a sport car, bmw 740li 2016 year/2017 year g11/g12good choise for daily driver.

Imaging having a S500 and 750i parked outside. Which do you chose if you know you are going to be stuck in traffic on the way to work? Which one for buying bread and milk at the nearest convenience store? Weekend away in the mountains? Long trip on the interstate/autobahn/freeway?

Very informative and enjoyable. The previous generation had rear wheel steering - has this been carried over and is it not perhaps a reason for the excellent steering feel ? Thank you so much

Thank you Thomas for giving such a detailed review. I just bought a 2018, 740 i last night here in Southern California. I own a late model S550 too, and fully agree with your conclusion that the S class is more plush and classy, as aptly stated, more for chauffeur driven usage. Whereas, the 740 i is quick and agile. Learned a whole lot on the car, Mine is with the M package, that includes the panoramic moon roof. I have to still explore as to what all features my car is equipped with. Is "Head up display" standard on all 740 i (s) or is an option. I have yet to test it on a freeway here, but we have a 65 miles limitation, which means I'll never ever be able to push the car to 200 Km as you did. Thanks again for showing so many details of this beautiful car. I opted for Alpine white with black interior. Looks beautiful, especially with the changeable ambiance lights in 6 colors. I'll be doing orange on the halloween night next Tuesday. haha.

Thomas, good as always ..love your reviews..However this episode camerawise - music is louder than your voice and details made with the camera are very annoying - I mean those camera sneak peaks or what should that be .. not good.

Could you shortly explain how the new Mercedes E-Class compares to this 7 Series in terms of sound isolation, ride quality etc?

How well do the head-up displays generally work? Is it worth paying money for? Think this cars interior is really beautiful, I really like the clean and simple look it has. Almost a very humble luxurious style, which makes it more suitable for every day driving I think than some of the competitors.

Great review as always Thomas. Cheers. What confuses me is why the gesture control is not incorporated with a voice control, like siri or go android. That way you would simply talk to your car for pretty much everything e.g. calls, directions, heating, massage.....

Thanks! Hm I think they are comfortable, but indeed the seats in Audi A6/A7/A8 appeared better to me e.g. We ll soon show you the facelifted BMW 7 Series!

The new M760il has now got fabric seats however this is only one model and it's the most expensive, I still love BMW though

Excellent detailed review. The 5 musketeers S Class; A8; LS; XJ and 7 Series. In terms of drive - the XJ first, then 7 series second and A8 third. Comfort - S class first, probably LS second, A8 third and 7 series fourth. So the all rounder would be the A8. The driving all rounder, the 7.

I am hit by all these bad reviews of the mechanical problems of the V8 N63 engine which freaks me out ... Is the V8 engine really that bad? Any information would be appreciated!

I m driving Lexus but i must say, if you test the LS now it will be raped immediatly... unfortunatly the LS is clearly ovvvvverdated... everything look older inside ans outside you really see that the LS is now comming too much old conception. Lexus really need to work on it and show what they can really do. I m a big fan of Lexus. I m drivibg my second GS450H f sport 2015... but clearly if i had 123.000 euros, i would never buy a LS. Serie 7 or classe S or A8 are so much more moderns.

+loo lolo Merc is a dinosaur near BMW))) It's like to compare Renaissance with Bauhaus (IMAO). Lexus is the compatitor to Merc only, it's really can't be compared with Bimer in driving perfomance or technology, but it easily can be compared in saloon quality. By the way it's WAY more comfy than BMW :) Lexus for safety and relaxed driving... And I'll chose Lexus LS600H rather than Merc S.

Good review, but will like to see you get your hands on the long wheelbase 750 Li, especially the M Sport version. The standard 740, not bad, but this color combination along with standard Dakota Leather, makes it look kind of bland. The Merino, and darker color interior, especially the Cognac one is gorgeous. The M Sport version I have is quite impressive, the 35 series tires, along with lowered suspension doesn't seem to affect the vehicle that much in ride quality. In other words impressive, and the vehicle really handles well in the twist, when put in Sport. The G12 7, I am driving does not have xDrive option, but still handles surprisingly well. It can't compare to the A8, because majority of Audi owners buy Quattro, because otherwise it is front-drive car, which will be pretty mediocre in handling.

A great review. Loved it. Have a 2016 Mercedes S class. Thinking of replacing it with 7 series. Have a spine issue. Need a comfortable car. Drive myself. Any suggestions?

No doubting that this is an amazing car and if you add up all the features and compare pro's and con's in comparison to its rivals it may well come on top...BUT i still think the S Class is the one to buy in this segment, even though its 2/3 years older.

Great review, as always. I always wonder why BMWs are not more generous with rear legroom. Could they not shave 6cm off the engine compartment and add it to the rear legroom? The 6 series convertible is only suitable for rear passengers who have no legs! I know the 7 series has a long wheelbase varient, but surely a 6ft+ driver and 6 ft+ passenger should both be able to strech out in comfort, considering the price you pay for a 7. Very detailed review - Tomas is always the best source to check before you buy. Why are you not on the new Top Gear - you and Sabine would make a great combo.

When is the german version coming?

The 730i with the 2liter engine is a BIG seller in the Turkish market. The Turkish market taxes cars based on engine size (cc) so any engine above 2L will get taxed 130%. 1.6-2.0=80% tax. Anything below 1.6 is taxed 30%. The price difference between the 740i and the 730i is about 70.000euros !

+Sandouras With 3 and 5 series they already have the market, but with 7 series they still struggle with S class and maybe A8. Having that in mind you will always get much more for your money with 7 series than with 3 or 5 series comparing with competition. They simply have to offer more and it is clearly visible. It i so much better than current competition.

I always wonder how long the dialscreen and the navigationscreen will last. I drive a car from '92 with a lot of pleasure that (obviously) has analog clocks. There has never been anything wrong with it. I wonder how these screens will be when the car is 24 years old too... Anyway - great car - great review - dankeschön Thomas!

I have thought a lot about this aswell. I think though that in the future cars will have a life length about 1-5 years just like computers and cellphones.

About 6 months ago the car started sputtering when you accelerate. I found online that you can take your BMW 2011 750LI xdrive in for a customer care package ( They did not call it a recall but a customer care package.) I thought this would correct the problems because they replace some sensors and vacuum hose but the problem is still there. BMW did a full diagnostic and said (Remove and replace all injectors (x8), ignition coils (x8),and spark plugs (x8) (During the inspection found the vehicle misfiring) final cost will run $6777.00 my warranty company will refuse to pay because they wanted to know what would you replace all 8 injectors and all of the other parts because all 8 injectors cant be bad. The warranty company think BMW know they have a faulted Injection systems and trying to upgrade and correct the problem at the customer expense. The car burn major oil, BMW claim this is normal. I will get a second opinion. This is the worst car I have ever own and when you spend a 100,000 on a car you expect to drive it more then 4 years without all of the problems these car has cost us. I thought BMW quality meant something. I will never, never buy another BMW in Life.

exactly. This is my second one. My 2008 was a much better build car. If you read online about all of the complaints 750li xdrive and other 750LI build from 2009 to 2015. BMW used to stand for quality. The paint on the knobs started fading after two years. This car is a mess. You would think BMW would have some honor and do a recall and repair all of the defects this car have.

*+ Derrick McNeill after they did the customer care package, why did u agree to take the car back if u said the problems are still there ? this is your fault for not rescheduling with bmw after u found out they didn't fix it with the customer care package*

A+ for the review. A- for the car Mercedes has more luxurious feel. BMW is good for the money until the 5 series and even this will be overtaken by the new E class.
