Tbh I like both. Never owned a E39 but have been in a few. I've owned around 6 Omegas over the years and currently still have two 3.2 Elite models. I've always had a soft spot for big Vauxhall saloons with a big engine. They might not be the fastest out there but they do put a smile on my face. Would fancy a Senator 3.0 24v if one came up for sale. But these have gone up on value drastically and they are far and few between especially in good condition. Now's the time to buy a Omega 3.0/3.2 before they get scrapped / go up on value in years to come. Good cars but they do have their faults and nigles like all cars.

@Sink's Memes My dad owned an Omega. Recently getting my driving license, I also wanted to get the Omega as a first car, but it is totally unrealistic. This is because, firstly, they are very rare cars now. It’s difficult to find them 1. Cheap and 2. In good condition. Secondly, the prices are massive for owning a car like this at a young age. Still hope to get one some day, but not as a first car.

I had/have both cars. The Omega is bigger, which is good. But the seats are too much of a living room sofa as is the suspension. The Omega is rather fitting for Mercedes oriented owners. Also the display position of the Omega is just horrible. No matter how I adjusted my seat and steering wheel, I never saw the whole display, it's always overlapped by the steering wheel. BTW: The 535i tested in this video has a 3.5 V8 and not a 3.0l engine. The follow up facelift e39 530i has a inline 6 with 3.0l. That's the one I have now :)

Having driven an e39 and owned 2 omegas, 2.2 dti gls and a 3.2 elite I can say that the e39 is a more sporty car in general but the omega is better value for money and the interior has not aged that much compared to my dads 2002 530d. Regarding the display I've never had problems with seeing it, but I do have that difficulty with the new F10 5 series which I now own. Also the omega gets points for having fold down rear seats which in bmw you have to pay extra for.

It's extremely good on snowy/icy climbs where many other RWD cars fail. If you are interested in this for drifting reasons, that's another story. But than you would choose a smaller, lighter car anyways :) EDIT I seen we had a similar talk already. Police and 3rd party cars could have it, hard to find I guess^^

@@ysmg9010 actually you are wrong. Plenty of facelift had LSD as factory fitted. And since differential was same as old omega model, they are easy to be fitted if car did'nt have one from factory.

@@Martink9191 Hey! I'm thinking of getting an omega, please tell me which LSD can be fitted into it? From the wiki there were 3 Omega versions, the Omega A, the Omega B1 and Omega B2, I'm going for the B2, the latest one, 1999 year. Can I use the LSD from ANY Omega? Or just the B1? Thanks :)

  • @Martink9191

@@CatGuy969 original one. For B2 you can use both B1 and B2 LSD. Omega A has bit different differential and it is not direct fit. Housing has different design. And for information If you get LSD from early 2 litre B1, then you need to replace flange of cardan saft. You get that from your old dif. You need long 27mm shocket for that. ANd check out ratios. petrol ones uses 3,70, 3,90 and 4,222. Diesel uses 3,45 and 3,27. If you are going with diesel dif, you get higter top speed.
