Hi from Scotland! I just installed this in to my new 2024 M340i and it is an excellent solution for connecting my dash cam. If you had not posted this video I would have either had to hardwire it or use up one of the ports in the centre console. Very much appreciated. Best wishes.
Wow just the video i needed, exact same car and same cam and hardwire kit i ordered, thanks so much

Hi Thanks for the video, What setting have you set the OBD2 adaptor set? Thanks

I have it set to 24hr.
thanks for ur video, excellent . I have a question? if I set 24 h for Garmin park mode.. is the cam recording continuously throughout the 24 hour? I think in the park mode the cam active only if detect incident. there is difference between OBD connection and connection with car fuses? sorry for my English, I send message from italy. Hope I was clear

I’m not entirely sure but this is from the Garmin website: Select the 24 hours or Always On option if you want the Garmin Dash Cam to operate continuously while the vehicle is parked.
good video
Great video, thanks! It would be great to see the sensitivity when it's parked. Does it record just motions in the surrounding or just when somebody bumps into and how hard is had to be?

I don’t have a video but it does need to be hit pretty hard. Simply bumping it with my hip doesn’t trigger it.

@@MrGlatzos Garmin app under settings. A slight bump or tap will trigger it. I blame Garmin for leaving it on medium. It’s so stupid and needs to be set high default.
Awesome vid, so clean and informative. Do you think wiring it in voids any car warranty?
@MrGlatzos

Thanks! I don’t see how it can void anything since I haven’t tampered with any wiring or altered any of the original equipment. It always be quickly disconnected if you’re unsure prior to taking it into a dealer for any warranty work. -

@@MrGlatzos Yeah this is my thinking too, we can easily disconnect it. Dealer quoted almost $1,800 to install a dashcam I'm like there's no way.
Looks nice, will it stop automatic charging once car is off? To avoid draining car battery? And any comments from BMW when you brought the car in for maintenance ?
@MrGlatzos

The camera doesn’t charge, it receives constant power. It does go into standby mode when the car is off but will reactivate when the car is bumped. I don’t bring my car into BMW, I handle my own maintenance.
When the plastic trim states "Air Bag", I feel a bit uneasy to pry the panel out. Any chance it will set off the airbag if not done correctly?!?!?

Good question. I have no idea what the answer is to that. I wonder if cutting the power from the battery or fuse would help.

Moving that panel won’t cause the airbag to deploy. The sensors behind the bumper and other sensors are what trigger them, but you need to consider where the cable is routed. Make sure the cable isn’t passing over the front of where that airbag will deploy from and you’ll be good 👍🏻

You can also remove the + on your battery so the aren't connected. Also after that make sure you are grounded with to car with touching you screwdriver to a metal point of the car.
If the swith is set to 24h when the car is parked is it recording continuously or only when it detects a motion in parking mode?
@MrGlatzos

The OBD-II Power Cable has three options for supplying power to your Garmin dash cam: 10 Minute Mode: Select this mode if you want your dash cam to power off after you exit your vehicle. Your camera will continue to run for 10 minutes after your engine has been turned off, then it will power down. Your camera will then power back on automatically the next time you start your engine. 24 Hour Mode: Your Garmin dash cam will remain on for 24 hours after you turn your vehicle off. The Power Cable has a built-in low battery detection that will shut off the camera if your vehicle battery reaches below 12V, which prevents you from returning to a dead battery! Always On Mode: Your Garmin dash cam will remain powered on continuously, unless the built-in low battery detection sees that your vehicle battery has reached the safety cutoff threshold of 12V or below. The dash cam will then power back on once the engine is restarted. The built-in timer will automatically reset whenever outside motion is detected, an impact occurs, a vehicle door opens, or the engine is running.
great video, I have the same exact car (not e), how do you like the cam so far?

@@MrGlatzos okay great...i have an older bmw and the OBD2 is on the side and you have to take the cap off, so i might just wire it to the usb port.
Do you have any long-term issues with this device, a lot of reviews on Amazon claim that it kills your battery and doesn't actually work for the amount of time that you set it too.

The cable crosses over the airbag inside the A pillar. If deployed, the airbag would tangle to the cable.

No it wouldn’t, the airbag would simply rip the cable out of the way. They have a ridiculous amount of force.
