    YOU LOTT what do you honestly think of this camera? 🔥 I rate it heavily. Not your typical technical review, but I wanted to throw all my thoughts on the table about this camera after using it for 3 months. Its still got some downsides, but they are certainly getting there slowly but surely. HOPE YOU ENJOYED THE HARRASMENT I JUST GAVE THIS CAMERA. With big respect to you man, love your videos, but huge NO to crop camera. For me, the undoubted and only advantage of a crop camera has always been the low weight of it and the optics. It is convenient to take it for example when you are climbing mountains. But even though blackmagic 6k is not a full-frame camera, it weighs too much. but what you shoot on sony is a big respect. they are top

    wonderful videos, thanks for your inputs!! all in all, having the budget for both, would you go for the bmpcc 6k or the sony fx6? is the price of the fx6 worth it over the black magic? do you think it's harder to achieve a cinematic image with the fx6?

    If the overall body design wasn't wide and off balance feeling I'd probably fall in love with it. I had the BMPCC4k and that thing was a pain to work with because of the overall design and to me personally the 6K Pro looks even bigger and more awkward. But that's just my take. I think for a ton of people this camera is brilliant, I just couldn't ever enjoy actually shooting with it, which is sad because ProRes and Braw are beautiful formats and there's a lot to love about the camera, the menu system is beautiful, and the way Blackmagic innovate makes me want to support what they're doing. I think if they could adopt a more traditional video camera body style with all these features it'd be very tempting to go back to it.

    The image quality on this camera is insane. It is a bit bulky, especially coming from Sony cameras, however, I like shooting handheld and the extra weight really makes a difference. I also feel Gen 5 is a little challenging to grade. Overall, for the price, you are getting an incredible camera packed with features that can be used in a variety of situations. The last part where you talked about Dale operating the camera, I was intimidated at first since this is my first BMPCC camera, but I figured out everything out within an hour. The camera is super simple to figure out and the menus are EASY (not like Sony's) 😁. I do agree that you don't need to rig it out..UNLESS..you are shooting all day. I rigged mine out mainly to avoid thinking about battery life. Great review sir!

    @@markshirley01 it depends on the resolution you shoot in and a few other factors. If you shoot 6k the files are usually GB's. Im the same boat now, I have Sony A6500 since it's release. I've been wanting to upgrade this year. Looking into Sony A7S3 or BMPCC6K Pro. The price of the 6kpro with Lens and Battery grip is cheaper then A7S3 body only. But people have mentioned how the autofocus is bad. When doing action scenes that Auto focus is Major. How have you delt with focus on your 6k Pro or have you switched back to Sony?

  • @SebastianReimers

    @SebastianReimers

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@Diminish12 Yes that's correct. The autofocus is bad and i rarely use it. It is not comparable with the continious autofocus from the Sony's by any means and you have to get used to focus manually. But actually this doesn't bother me. Most of the time i'm using the 6k Pro on my DJI RSC2 Gimbal. With the RSC2 or the RS2 you can control the focus with the back wheel of the Gimbal grip. This works great for me. And after 4 month of using the 6k Pro i am super happy that i made the switch and wont go back anytime soon. The Image Quality and especially the internal ND are a blessing. But i have to say, that i have not shot many action scenes so far and tracking fast moves with the manual focus can sometimes be tricky.

    I think it's actually the best run and gun camera due to the false color, built in ND, and 5 inch screen built in. But with that said, who is ready for Blackmagic to give us gear acquisition syndrome in about 2 months at NAB when they drop something even better? 😂

I’m sick of these small 3-3.5inch screens on other cameras. How portable is it if I HAVE to use an external monitor to see anything properly. great video xDDD But I have still some questions as it's pretty hard to choose between the 6k and 6k pro haha. I've never had a video camera, so I'm somehow afraid that it will be too heavy with the Pocket 6k Pro (1.2 kg DJI Rs 2 stabilizer, 800g Sigma 18-35 mm, 1.2 kg Pocket 6k Pro, and another battery or SSD.) Do you think that could be the case? Especially when you e.g. film the whole day or when you travel and still have a drone. I also wonder if the 6k Pro's "tilting screen" is really necessary? (I filmed with the Gopro and the cell phone on a stabilizer and never really had any problems, even when I walked very close to the floor. Maybe it's different with the camera, as many 6k users said it is necessary). Buying one later would make less sense, as it costs more and is perhaps even more uncomfortable if you use the stabilizer and fix a "DJI 3D focus system" / microphone on the "head" of the camera. I've already looked a bit on the internet and apparently the 6k Pro fits on the RS 2, but it's not yet entirely clear to me whether that's really true. I have one last question then I say more than thank you; Do you actually need nd filters a lot in filmmaking? thxx

    nice one! And while on the topic of colour grading, I could really go with some new episodes of c&c, so hope you recorded some new ones while in Bali & Jakarta. Show us some with some epic shots on banging tunes pls !!!! Never used the BM cams, so don't have an opinion yet, but would sure love to try. I shoot mostly on Sony (A7iii, FX9, FS7), but use other BM stuff they make like Atem switchers and software and they always deliver amazing bang for the buck. They have an excellent software component in the company which is better than, dare I say: anything Canon, Nikon or Sony has to offer at this moment. I think this will lead to better products over time, with new features in firmware updates, available for older products as well. This worked well for fuji and apple, so works for BM. I wish sony took that route and offered 10bit in A7iii / new codecs LUT support, new menu if the hardware is sufficient.

    I loved mine to but decided to sell it and go with the FX3 instead because I was tired of worrying about focusing all the time. Best decision I ever made even though I found the P6K final image "better" but 95% of the viewers would not see the difference. If you have time and some one to focus for you, yeh the camera is brilliant, otherwise it is such a relief to film and not be worried about that 6K image being in focus all the time. Just my personal experience and opinion but depends on what you shoot and what your needs are. Although the internal ND's are great, they never get you to an exact aperture you need, so additional ND's most likely will be needed. Nice video and thanks. My FX3 hit's focus 99% of the time even wide open @ F1.4 and I shoot mainly people so the eye focus is DOPE! When Blackmagic makes a Box shape body and Autofocus like a Sony, I would get back into it. Other wise I will just rent one if I need it for those projects that are worth it.The 120P 4K full frame Sony image is 🔥🔥🔥🔥

    The Blackmagic RAW is as easy to edit as Pro-res and is more flexible. You should be able to find some actual unedited footage to test with your computer system. I would suggest you download Davinci Resolve (it’s free) and check it out. You can edit Pro-res in most editing packages. It shoots both. It’s a beast.

    The only thing that has always kept me away from getting a Black Magic camera is the durability and quality control issues .. I came close to buying an Ursa G2, but found several people who’s Ursa crapped out on them after only 2-3 years of use .. so the warranty was already gone - and that’s just unacceptable, I would pay a little extra money to get a little extra reliability + durability
