    Love the look of that rear screen - looks a lovely camera - but Im so deep in FCP that switching to resolve is a no go for me. Plus all my work is social media 1080p at the moment - so probably overkill for the res that I need.

  • @BrandonTalbot

    @BrandonTalbot

    There’s a cheap plug-in that lets you import BRAW directly into FCP (that’s what I use too) but I just shoot in prores and it’s no problem at all. Plus the 4k is a downscaled 6k image when shooting in ProRes so it’s really purty

    BM is really nice especially if you already own canon ef lenses, but if you are really considering to switch to let's say an A1 with 3 lenses (20mm f1.8, 90mm 2.8 macro, and probably a 40mm Zeiss Batis or the new 50mm f1.2 GM) you will have all your needs covered in one body (amazing video with virtually no limitations, 50 megapixel stills at 30fps if needed, and the most amazing autofocus, all in a super small package). What I love about the Sony system right now is the mirrorless lens eco-system which is huge with Tamron, sigma, voigtlander, samyang, laowa, 7 artisans, Zeiss, etc)

    I bought the Blackmagic 6k Pro because it was my dream camera as a musician (not a filmmaker). No other camera that I researched was giving me that same level of gear lust and I'm so glad this is the one I chose. It's absolutely inspiring and exciting to use - something necessary for me to tear away from my music gear and be excited to work on the visuals as well. The image quality is just so STUPIDLY good that it just elevates the visuals for anything you put it on to a level that creating emotions from your footage is almost easy. I don't know anything about camera tech or making films, but I do know that the image on the Blackmagic looks jaw-dropping straight from the lens. Now I'm learning how to make better music videos for my channel!
