What metric are hyou using to define best? I would really like to know, or is it just your fav? Personally Derek bores me, he tends to overdo solos so much , he needs to learn less is more. He really needs to listen to Kossoff.

Music is so subjective. It comes down to a listener preference. I love what TDD does. Also loving what Marcus King Band does.

I happened to be at the Allman Brothers concert at The Manhattan Center in NYC August 18th 1971. They debuted”Blue Sky “that night. I was so excited to hear a new song that I hadn’t heard by them. I was especially excited when Dickey sang going to Carolina because I’m a proud Tarheel.

Man, for us old enough to have seen young long haired Dickey back in the day, this is eerily wonderful! What a fine job folks! One of the most perfect songs ever!

Man - Derek Trucks, Duane Betts and of course, Susan Tedeschi. It doesn't get any better.

Young Duane did himself and his dad proud on this one. NICE. I liked that he put his own licks in most of this, then the signature licks of his dad's, right at the end of his solo, with the guitar harmony and all. Call me a sentimental old fart, but I clouded up, a little, with it.

Sentiment is one of mans greatest attributes. I'd rather be on the battlefield with someone who's sentimental than a man in it with a cold heart an selfish soul. You most likely feel the music more than a lot of people I cry alot listening to the Allman Brothers an the Grateful Dead.

This song has always put me in a good mood when life’s got me down. Or, in a good mood anytime!

My sons are in their 30's and listen to all kinds of music. Old and new. Recently my son is playing this on his phone after Dickey passed away. I just smiled. What else could i do. 😁

Terrible, right. Although, he had a rough way of life. I am getting ready to reboot an old channel about music and reminded people at the end of my RIP that it's not for us to reconcile loved ones when they pass. I don't know who they replaced Yonrico and M'butu with, do you?

I think of Duane Betts as the next generation from the Allman Brothers, but for some reason I don't think of Derek Trucks that way as much -- probably because Derek played in the ABB for 15 years, and those 15 years were my second favorite era of the ABB, second only to the early years with Duane Allman. (Though the early 1990s were a great era too.) But in reality, you're right. Derek and Duane are both part of that next generation, in the sense that each of them is either the son or the nephew of an original ABB member. And yes, it's wonderful to hear them keeping these great songs alive.

I absolutely love this!!! Side note: If you have not checked out Jason Bonham Led Zeppelin Experience, you should! Talk about 2nd generation of the greatest of all time… he’s been playing zeppelin longer than zeppelin played zeppelin!

2nd Time watching this. Absolutely so blown away impressed with the stellar clean picking from Dickey’s Son Duane. Love Derek and He’s a Monster. But Duane truly makes the Great song rambling solo so reminiscent of His father. RIP Dickey❤️

I was at the Fillmore East 3/ 12 / 71 and too many other shows to count since Blue Skies is always a favorite the guitar interplay was always awesome then and now no surprise that these two great young guitarists would keep it so close to the roots God bless Southern Rock

Amazing to see these two collaborating. I met Derek when he was a pre-teen and then went to see his shows in downtown West Palm Beach. Butch would call my radio show and promote his shows. Hung out with Duane's dad at a capitol hill hotel during a radio conference. We smoked , drank a beer and talked about his new solo album. He was the nicest rock star. Bravo guys and Susan as always!

No disrespect to anyone else, but Derek Trucks has to be the best blues rock guitarist on the planet by a country mile! Wow!!

Outstanding! Have heard this in so many iterations since the impeccable brilliant original and this one stands out for it's soul and pure musicianship. Derek brings it to another level like he does just about everything and Duane just brings it. Bravo!

Not only are they extremely talented but in a way extremely brave. Knowing they will be compared to one of, if not the greatest live band in history takes more than great talent. I've seen nearly every band from late 60's through 70's in concert, including Allman Brothers 10+ times; Zeppelin, Clapton, Stones, Deep Purple, Eagles, Beach Boys to name just a fraction; the most powerful and dynamic band imo -The Allman Brothers. There's a great reason why Clapton was so impressed.

There were certain times during this performance that I thought WAS actually seeing Dicky! Amazing! Love this!!! Can’t wait to see Tedeschi Trucks in Milwaukee this August! Wouldn’t it be great if Duane was there too? Thank you for posting this.

I saw the The Allman Brothers in 1969, I was 11 and with my Mom and Dad. Yeah I grew up in a wonderful great time. 65 and a half now and still CAF!
