Really great work. How long will this fix hold and work? One thing, the background music is a little bit strange.

This is the quick fix, I have a previous fixed one that has been fine for a year+. However the real "proper" fix is to take the faulty chip off and re-ball. Unfortunately I don't have the tools to do that. So this fix "could" last but you wouldn't want to be doing this and selling on as you couldn't really guarantee!

It will be interesting to see what happens to this console once it gets discontinued. As far as being repairable... They're not worth fixing. As is probably cheaper just to buy a new one.

Sometimes the fix is a few pounds so still worth the effort. Also if you are lucky to find an unpatched one, really is worth it as so easy to hack rather than installing a mod chip.

@@fixingmoddingbuilding Maybe in the UK they're worth fixing. I do microsoldering as hobbyists. For the average consumer 120$ here in the US to fix their 7 year old console doesnt seem cost effective. If they cant fix it, you get charge 50$ just for a tech to look at. :) Ran this social experiment and I got scammed on purpose. The EMMc chips seems to fail more often and Backing up data,reflashing and reballing just isn't possibility for regular people unless they posses an upatched switch or have 300$ Flash tools, neccesary skills.

Do you think I’d be able to take this to a repair shop and they can fix it? Cause I have this same problem
@fixingmoddingbuilding
Жыл бұрын
Yes but the cost of it might not make it worth while and might be easier to sell as faulty and just buy another unit. Some repair shops might not be happy just reflowing as there is no long term guarantee, they will probably prefer to reball.

Use aluminum tape. Works much better as it dissipates heat. Copper attracts heat.

@@fixingmoddingbuilding yea kaptom tape is useless. Aluminum tape is amazing. You can heat directly right next to a plastic connector and it will protect it. Just pick up a big roll of the aluminum tape used for HVAC at your local hardware store or Amazon. Keep up the great content bud!
