Blue October was my dad’s favorite band. He passed away almost exactly 5 years ago. I never gave much thought to this kind of music. This morning I woke up with song lyrics stuck in my head so I googled them. The song didn’t exist. One of the first search results was the lyrics to this song. I read them and cried… I’ve been feeling down lately and I feel like this was a message from my dad, telling me to cheer up ❤️

Lexi Garrett so many people are Steve coming in a pit of anger and unforgiveness when a relationship goes bad. When someone is left behind, divorced, done wrong. Being happy, even when your former love moves on... even when it caused pain to lose that person... that’s a blessing.. and the song seems to be about being that healthy person.. not a bitter wrinkly unhappy soul.

yup..... makes me think of a specific special person from my past. His voice just triggers emotions. Hearing that on its own is like meh. His voice attached is like O.O Okay you got my attention now.

My Fiance passed away and 5 days after his passing this song came on randomly and I felt it was from him… One more song that I feel connected to him when I listen to it💞

My girlfriend has cancer and only has months to live... So it hurts hearing this song. It goes way deeper than just breaking up with someone.

Exactly. Like.... As someone who's been in several abusive relationships, obviously what I'm about to say doesn't apply in cases of abuse.... But...i just don't understand why people feel they automatically have to hate their ex or ex friends solely because it didnt work out. SURPRISE!!!! NOT EVERYONE DOES WORK OUT! Everyone is looking for different things, everyone is hurting and healing from their own shit, and at different stages of it. And not everyone is meant to be forever. Some people are meant to be temporary and to teach us whatever lesson we need most from them. And then you both go your own ways. It doesnt mean you have to hate them. Try to remember how much they meant to you at one point... So i love this song.

Honestly this song makes me melancholic. My best friend showed me this song before he moved across the country. He unfortunately passed away this year at 24 years old. Here's to almost 2 decades of friendship brother. Until we meet again.

Dr. Pepper is very popular in the mid-west U.S. but especially in the southern U.S. Justin probably grew up drinking Dr. Pepper in Texas which is most likely why he used this particular cola for a reference.

This song.... speaks to a specific person I knew at one time or another. The lyrics "I remember how we tried and we tried I remember everything".... speaks to my bones. A specific relationship was like that. Really several. but one in particular who I still care a lot about. But it would never work in reality. Amazing how something so simple, can be so powerful. Each time I listen to it. It helps me move forward an accept the past. Sometimes a song can express something far better than words ever could.

I used to listen to this sone with someone and I believed every aspect when I was with them. Now I am no longer with them and I still listen to this song for them. I still wish them the best with all my heart. As Eugene says "my intentions does not excuse my impact". I understand that now. They are an amazing person and I know they will do fine in life. No matter what, I will still have their back, even though I am no longer apart of their life

Yet another Blue October song that has some-how, some-way channeled my life in an uncanny-autobiographical way. To say that Blue October is the soundtrack of my life is a vast understatement.

Hi. Dislike number 7 here. I disliked this video not because I don't understand what music is. I disliked this because I don't like this video. Been a fan since I first heard Consent to Treatment back in 2000. I don't like the direction the music is going in. I feel it's too far a departure from the band I fell in love with 17 years ago. To like this video blindly would be dishonest to myself, and to the people who made this music.

I'm sorry you feel this way. I love that he's sober. I'm very thankful he's still around to make music and he could sing anything to me but I'm just not digging this song. I don't understand why just because we dislike a song you like we don't know what music is. People can have opinions different than you and still have it ok. I don't have to love every song to 'stick by his side'. I find this song very overwhelming. I hope the rest of the CD has us hearing a little more of the other band members, especially Ryan on violin. Either way I will stick around to hear it.

This song is a certified hood classic.

This is so good. I know there are some Blue October fans from their early days who don't like the direction they've taken. People change and grow, and bands reflect that, and maybe the haters haven't moved in the same direction the band has and don't connect with their newer sounds like they did the early stuff. That's okay. For me, their early music was exactly what I needed at the time, and their newer, happier music is exactly what I need now. I've been walking a similar trajectory, I guess. More than that, though, I think the happier direction is exactly the music our cynical and angry culture needs right now, and I hope this song blows up in the public consciousness and helps people heal.

The difference between BO and other bands is that Justin writes what he feels. He shares his emotions with the fans. Other bands simply make songs for commercial success. I appreciate the effort he puts into his lyrics. They are from the heart. That's what sets them apart from other bands.

My dance teacher I've had my whole life plays this song sometimes. I've been hearing it since I was like 10. What would be cool.... is if Blue October released a lyrics version just like this for karaoke.. So people could sing it ( not as well ) but then they could also spread the word of this band... Because afterwards let people ask.. Who was that.... Seeing the lyrics and hearing the music ... might pull in more fans.

i remember the first girl i ever fell in ‘love’ with. looking back now i don’t know if it was love..but she taught me a lot about letting go and being okay anyways. even if it hurts like hell. we rode out by the lake one night and turned the stereo all the way up, and left the doors open so we could still hear it from the beach. the world felt complete and this became our song. years later i am truly in love now yet i thank my first for teaching me so many lessons to carry into my future with my gorgeous girl 🖤

It's kind of funny that I finally gave this song a listen right when I was experiencing feelings of unrequited affection and was trying to find a good song to explain it with. The world's got a funny way of doing that, huh?

Love Blue October, one of my top 5 bands of all time. This song made me realize I just want my wife to be happy.

I just love this band. I wish they had more attention. They deserve it.

I really liked it the first time the second time and third time it grew on me even more! I love the positive vibe of the song that energy and just that they had the balls to do something a little bit different bringing in the 80s element into the song! Love you guys!
